  2. I guess I don't understand the debate... it is an easily renewable resource. If you want more, buy 'em and put 'em in the lake. If you don't want to pay for new ones then throw them back and let them reproduce.
  3. Now that's crazy talk.
  4. B - what a great story. From the looks of your picture, you've come a long way since the jon boat. I can remember launching a jon boat from the back of a pickup... 3 guys in the boat, back down the ramp fast, slam on the breaks... away they go! Occasionally they even stay dry.
  5. Creekfreak, Got any updates? It has been a few months. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the pics!
  7. Had a huge one boil at a topwater last evening over lots of bait and some big marks on the graph, but no catch.... in PC right between the buoys.
  8. An Open Letter To Our United States Congress: Dear Senators and Representatives, As of this writing, you currently have more than eighty days before the next debt ceiling deadline is reached. Take it from someone who deals with schedules, deadlines, and budgets on a daily basis, START NOW! I'll bet you won't. In fact, I'll bet you 17 trillion dollars that you won't be responsible and start early and address this before the deadline. What? I dont have that much? You don't have it either but it has never stopped you before.
  9. Loads of shad flipping in the sun in the back of both of these coves. With these cold nights I wonder how far away the stripers are?
  10. So how about the paddlefish? I've never caught one and probably wouldn't know what to do with it, but they have always fascinated me? Just a random snag?
  11. Well, do the math. At $9500 per student, with 15,000 students in the district, that is $142 million dollars. You could pay for 9500 hospitilazations at $15k each with that amound of money! If people don't like the healthcare in their area, you know what they could do? MOVE! People buy homes to be in good school districts. Property values reflect how good a school district is. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Key word being pursuit. It doesn't say "Premium Healthcare, Liberty, and Guaranteed Happiness." Earn it, man.
  12. If you think you are being charitable because your Federal Government providing assistance to the poor you are sorely mistaken. CHINA is giving them assistance. You are merely paying the interest on this. ($16,000,000,000,000) remember?
  13. Somehow I pay a very small reasonable local tax each year and my local school district is able to employee nearly 1000 staff and educate 15,000 students each year. The majority of the funding for this comes from local and state taxes. Could we not care for the small number of local individuals who are in dire need of medical care and unable to pay for it the same way? Also, if I don't like something in my school district, I march into the Superintendents office and we talk about it.
  14. Guess you don't think the Supreme Court has ever been wrong before? In 1884 the Supreme Court declared slaves the property of their masters. In 1896 the Supreme Court ruled that segregation was legal. Among others.
  15. Believe me, I see the problem. I know there is an issue with healthcare costs and availability. Based on their track record, I don't trust the Federal Government to be able to handle this. I really think that this should be addressed locally, by physicians, and in conjunction with charities.
  16. Yes. I am willing to provide inexpensive healthcare to low-income folkes...Locally - Where it can be controlled. Where it can be visible. Where it will not be abused. And most importantly... Where it is NOT UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
  17. I'll agree that any health insurance required should be just like car insurance... You never expect to have to use it. It is only for a horrible situation. It doesn't pay for regular tune ups or flat tires or fill ups. There is incentive to be in a low risk category by paying less. You can lose your coverage (too many traffic tickets, DUI's, etc).
  18. Exactly. It doesn't need to be addressed by the Federal Government. They can ALREADY go buy insurance if they are so inclined and are as concerned about their health as people want me to think they are.
  19. First, I know what you describe sounds sensational, but this kid doesn't exist. If he does, he is very rare and not a common occurrence that we need to address with a nationwide overstepping intrusion into every American's life and pocketbook. Second, there are already charities in place for this scenario. Some of you make it sound like people are dying on hospital doorsteps all over the place. Really? Give me a break. I can tell you that there are very very very few people turned away to die in this country due to lack of funds. There are however, millions of lazy, unhealthy, twinkie-eating, cigarette-smoking Americans who can't seem to be able to afford healthcare, but can somehow afford a flat screen TV, smartphone, and a car note. This is the REAL problem that needs to be addressed.
  20. Come on, man. Enough politics, I was wondering when we would get around to religion. There is sure plenty happening in this country that Jesus would not approve of. But to say that being forced to pay for someone else's healthcare is somehow "giving" or "charitable" is far from the truth. It isn't giving if you are forced to do it. Also, if I am going to end up being forced to pay for anyone else's healthcare but my own and my family's I have a few rules for you too... 1. Tobacco is illegal 2. Alcohol is illegal 3. Little Debbies are illegal 4. Corn Dogs are illegal 5. Demolition Derbies are illegal 6. 30 minutes of cardio a day is required Let me know if this starts to feel intrusive. I happen to really enjoy some of these things. But really, you want to pay for someone else's healthcare which is directly related to the choices they make? Have you ever been to a State Fair?
  21. That is neither brave nor impressive.
  22. Basic Fundamental Question: If you can afford the absolute best healthcare available and are willing to pay for it (best technology, best hospital, best doctor, etc), great. Are those who can't afford it entitled to the same? Yes or no?
  23. This would all be easier to settle if we were sitting out in the boat or around a campfire.
  24. "International" is just the name. It has nothing to do with jurisdiction. There is also a Uniform Mechanical Code and a National Standard Plumbing Code, The names do not mean anything. The point is that the States CHOOSE to adopt these codes. They are not Federally required to. There are actually quite a few differences in Building Codes from State to State.... most notably in the Building Energy Codes. Try building the same building in California as you do in Oklahoma. Even among different municipalities in California, you could be REQUIRED to install solar panels or electric car chargers, among others. Does the Federal Government know what's best for rural Oklahoma or Osage County? Of course not.
