  1. The reason behind the Question is ,One time we arrived at the river ,no horns blowing got into our waders made it across the river and upriver about 200yds only to find the River starting to come up,So we Scrambled backdown and across, with no time too spare. Some Local was on the bank when we crossed both times, was told after we made it back across the second time, that the horn had been blowing solid for over an Hour,Prior to our arrival.we were at the Watts.
  2. Does anyone know if there is a rhyme or reason to the horn blast signals, when water is released? like a solid blast for 30 minutes or longer = what? 3 short blasts = what?
  3. http://www.wildlifedepartment.com/ There's been some changes you need a non resident fishing license, can't use but one pole on the lower illinois length limit none on rainbows except inside trophy area limit is 6 a day.the web site above will give you more info.
  4. I was not Asking about Marvals.I am asking about the 2 campgrounds on the Arkansas river.
  5. I saw 2 campgrounds the last time I went through Gore and Webbers Falls on the banks of the Arkansas river,Are these Campgrounds functioning during the winter?
  6. Hey,what was the Fly? anybody catch any?
  7. Gore Landing Campground? Is it operational? How do you rent a spot?
  8. Chiromids about size 20 black with silver wrap, fished under an indicator ,(if bobber watching is your thing)will keep you happy.
  9. DaddyO,about every angler i talk to on the LIR has caught over a 100 fish a day.with the Exception of the days i'm within sight of them.LOL!!! and to confirm what DaddyO has said. Seriously,If you know your stuff, you can easily catch over a dozen in 4 hr. 13"-15" occassionly a couple of 16"-20" Rainbows. To me it's heaven!
  10. Zach your Right, those worms are flat. When i first seen them, i thought it was a stem of a plant, until i saw them move.
  11. I knew that would draw some attention.LOL!!! diameter= 1/16" length = 1-1/4"--1-3/4" color = transulcent dull yellow tint about the color of expoxy when it yellows here's a link to a tye that could be modified to fit the bill. http://hatchesmagazine.com/blogs/Hatches/2010/02/23/tying-grubs-by-fred-hannie/ http://www.warmfly.com/smf/index.php?topic=3124.0 Little nasties « on: January 13, 2010, 03:14:38 PM » Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are tied with mono thread over mono fishing line pieces. Just a little permanent marker for color. The mono gives it a translucent quality that adds to the "ick" factor.
  12. Compared to Ark Tailwaters Beaver,Bull SHoals,Norfolk,Greers ferry,Table Rock/TanneyComo. There is a huge difference in the number of Sowbugs,snails,Scud/freshwater shrimp, per square yard as compared to the others mentioned.there is an Aquatic worm called Annelids in the Lower Illinois that i haven't seen in the other waters. But the other waters don't have the poplation of Carp like the LIR does. I have never Sampled the Upper Illinois,So i am hesitant to blame Chicken houses. The other waters have chicken houses around them as well. Now I'm curious about the bug population in that creek that a carp festival is held in up around bella Vista.
  13. Hey Zach, I saw that couple you did down at the LIR.
  14. Mr lilley,I have been reading your reports for many years on the internet.Great Job! I have a copy of Ozark Trout Tales.and it's worn from use. I would like to see one similar about walleye & sauger,Between Oklahoma & Arkansas should be plenty to write. I read quite a bit of what you have put out on the subject already,The one that sticks out is the time you helped the Missouri game&fish Electro shock below powersite. Many moons ago. again Great Job!
