  1. If you are looking for Buffalo, there are a lot of them in the Kimberling city area of Table Rock. Just find a gentle sloping bank with moss (shouldn't be hard to find). I was down there last weekend and there were several over 30lbs swimming around.
  2. I fished a small club tournament this weekend. We didn't win, but did catch quite a few. The winner was throwing a blue back bandit 100 or 200 crankbait. They finished with over 20 lbs. I did catch several on a crankbait that were similar, but only one keeper. Most of my bigger fish came on a Green pumpkin and a watermellon chomper fished behind docks. Our crankbait fish came off of chunk rock banks. Did catch a few shorts on a chart. spinnerbait too.
  3. is painting baits in the basement

  4. I just picked up a few wiggle warts from BP today. I opened them up tonight to find out that one of them does not have a rattle in it. Has this happened to anyone before? I may keep it because I don't think I have ever had one with out a rattle. What do you guys think?

  6. I am wondering how you now that they are pre-rapala baits. The only way I was told to tell the difference was if it had wiggle wart painted under the bill. After repainting the bait that will not be there. Is there any other way to find out. If you look at his detailed sales, he sells a lot of Pre-rapala baits. I didn't think that there were that many left.
  7. I have painted some for friends and they have told me that I should sell them. I have thought about it but, right now I am just trying to bet better. If you want anything done, let me know, we can work something out. I would work pretty cheap just to get more repititon. If you have some old lures that you don't like and would like a different pattern on let me know.
  8. As far as the jerks from Janns go, I have a ghost minnow Lucky Craft and I have placed it up to a blank from Janns and I can not find a difference in the construction. Same number of rattles, same size rattles and all of them are in the same place. The only thing that I have found is that the bill is not as clear on some as you would find in a store. I can live with that. Keep in mind these were all blanks, I have not bought any that were already painted. Moto, I started that way also. If you need any help let me know. I am now addicted. I have sanded down about 75% of my cranks and repainted them. I painted a Nemo colored crank eairler this year, but my daughter will not let me keep hooks on it. Instead she made me tie it on to her princess rod. Now it is here practice plug. I have run out of stuff to paint so now I am repainting my Save Phace mask. here is my nemo, I got the blank from Jann's as well, and a pb&j craw.
  9. Quill, I am talking about tweeking the eye left or right to make the bait run true. I don't have to do it to all of them, but some. As far as suspending, they sell floaters and suspenders, so make sure you are buying the ones you want. I think the Floaters are cheaper. They do suspend fairly straight. I have adjusted some of the suspenders, but only to make the nose ride higher or lower when suspending. Also they sell 100's and 78's so make sure you are getting the ones you want.
  10. It most likely cost less than that to make them. I have bought quite a few from Jann's Net craft. I buy them unpainted and paint them myself. I have been using them for over a year now and they work fine, some need tuning but so do baits that I buy form Bass Pro. Here is what I have been doing with them.
  11. My dad and I were fishing Truman near Sterret Creek. I told him that there is a cemetery around there somewhere. He didn't believe me that their were still stones on the bottom. At the time he had a Hummingbird 3D view. It worked really well for what we were doing. Anyway we motored over the area and he was very shocked when a cross appeared on the screen. If anyone with a SI unit gets around that area, I would like to see some shots of it again. By the way dad just purchased a SI unit two weeks ago. Where is the Yahoo discussion group? I have been on the BBC site, very helpfull.
  12. http://www.manotak.com/ Manotak lodge is a great place. I have been there twice(06 & 07) and I will go back again. The staff is great, the food was wonderful, and the fishing was out of this world. Both years we went in early June, and usually lost track of how many fish we caught by the middle of the 2nd day. It is a 4 hour drive north of International falls MN, all pavement. They have smallmouth, walleye, northern pike, muskie, and perch. Check them out, you will not regret it. Jeff
  13. Brian, Please check your e-mail. Jeff
  14. I have had BPS Pro Qualifier rain gear for 2 years now and love it.
  15. I love TR. It is my favorite lake in the state. I live and work in St. Louis and I only get down that way about twice a year. I usually try to hit the rock at least once and tanney at least once. When I am on the Rock it is usually for a 4-5 days with a club tournament taking up the last two days. I fish my tail off those three days before the tournament and I have done fairly well over the years, 3 wins. This year I fished with my wife and won our club tournament with 23.49lbs over two days. That was my best result on the rock yet. I would be running blind if it were not for this website and the reports that you guys post. All of my information that I use, I get off of the posts that are on here. Anyone can do fairly well if they just read the post closely and look at a map when they do it. If you want something for free, it is all right here, just read it. There are many of us that really appreciate the work that you guys do. From all of us I say thank you. Try not to let those other guys get you down. If I were you I would give them the wrong information and when they complain I would tell them that they got what they paid for. By the way, I have a tournament next April and I was wondering if you could give me some spots that I can bump that 23.49 up to about 33. For no cost, of course. Thanks again for all you guys do. I feel pretty good that my best two days equal Bill's average days.
  16. Thanks oneshot, We ended up fishing Saturday and Sunday. I was surprised that the water was fairly clear. Visibility was about 5' and a little dingy. We only caught 2 keepers, but had a ton of shorts. We were throwing soft plastics. It didn't matter what brand, style, or color the shorts were hungry.
  17. Which ramps are closed? I am heading down this weekend. I might as well stay home though, I am not very good when the water is high and muddy.
  18. Has anyone been down to the lake this week? Is the Lake still clear, or has it muddied up?
  19. I am heading down next week and was wondering how clear the water is? What temps are you finding?
  20. It is not going to get any better. It has been raining here in St. Louis for the last couple of hours. All of the rain is coming from the direction of Mark Twain.
  21. Does anyone know how old a fish like that could be?
  22. A friend and I drove down for the day. We got into the water around 9:00 am and started behind the lodge. We caught several fish on egg flies and rooster tails. The bigger fish of the day were caught there. We then wadded down into the campground, each of us picking up a few fish. After lunch we headed up to the fly area. We entered the river at the first pull off and worked our way down stream. I ended up putting on a rooster tail because my friend was catching fish at will. We had a good day. It seamed like the fish in zone 2 were a little more aggressive than in zone 1.
  23. Lilley's is the best, but it does fill up so you need to book early. I have also stayed at Trout Hollow. It is not as nice as Lilley's, but when I am down there I don't spend much time in the room any way.
  24. Can someone post a map and regulations for the area. I have not been out there before. I hear about it all the time.
  25. I am looking to come down in mid July, but I have never been on the lower part of the lake. Could you guys give me a few suggestions on places to stay. I plan on bringing 4-8 guys with me. thanks
