Title pretty much says it all. Whats on the fishing to-do list for this year? Mine are:
1. Become a more capable fly fisherman and tier.
2.Fish one of Missouris wild trout waters.
3.Catch a Pickeral and at least get some casts in chasing Muskies.
4. Catch a Brook trout since they are the only trout in the area I havent caught (if anyone has tips for where the best place to find one that would be great haha)
Also where do brookies in the area come from? are they raised in a hatchery in state?
So the trip will be the first week of may. Is there still a caddis hatch on the water or any other bugs I need to know. Also what size streamers should I tie I haven't gone bigger than 6 yet. Should I?
The less weight you are swinging around the less you are going to tangle up, for lures you actively retrieve (rooster tails, crankbaits etc.) you dont need a bobber
Very nice bass. I think it says a lot about the guy that rather than kill the fish because of ridiculous requirements he released it. I would hope I could do the same
haha I appreciate the post otf. I have fly fished the actual park so I know how awesome the glo bug can be for the rainbows around there and have a couple dozen I tied up on 1/80th oz jig heads ready to go. OK thanks for tippin me off to the caddis hatch I willl have to tie some patterns up since I'm going mid april.
I'm currently tying up flies for my trip to montauk park and the BR section of the current coming in spring. Have a few size 18's tied up was thinkin about doin a few other sizes. Is ten probably too big or would that work. I have only fished that section with rooster tails and jigs before so I'm a little in the dark here. Thanks guys.
Sorry, what happened this summer at montauk?
Also on topic the only reason i could see them not flipping the FF and bait areas would be that alot of the bait fisherman probably enjoy having stream right behind the campsite
