i agree. i caught a couple 5 pounders this year, i have been fishing lake springfield for about a yr and a half. i am looking forward to trying my hand at catfishing and then fishing in my boat closer to the bluffs at the spill way. do jigs do any good this time of yr? what would you suggest for bass?
What were you using to fish? I have caught a 17 inch crappie and 24 inch bass in july this last year the same day. i have not fished the warm water but once. any place there better then the other and what works there? i fish the main lake by the boat house normally in my boat.
I'm thinking about going to Bridgeport tuesday to fish crappie and maybe try bass fishing. it will be the first time i try fishing TR by myself in a boat. i just want to stay in that area with a small motor. I have to get some stuff ready on the boat but think i can get it done by then. if not i will fish lake springfield.
i do not have a fish finder yet. i want to take it out to see what it is like on TR. i will take a map with me. i know it has been out at eagle rock portion of TR/ Roaring river with a bigger motor on it. is the crappie fishing good in that area?
Was thinking of fishing Aunts creek for the fist time. I know bass fishing is slow but how are the crappie? how is boat traffic this time of year from monday to wednesday?
I have a 14 ft Richline boat with a trolling motor and 5 hp motor on it. Do you think i could use it in the cape fair area or on the james? i know i will have to stick to the small coves.
How deep is the water you are fishing in? I have a 14 ft Richline boat with a trolling motor and 5 hp motor on it. Do you think i could fish the areas you were?
Went fishing tonight with the wife and caught 3 Fish. wierd thing was caught all on 3 different baits. i caught 2 one on a buzz bait and anothing on a spinnerbait. both chartuse and white. my wife caught one on a tequila sunrise power worm 7 inches. it was funny watching her try and bring it in. she thought she had got moss and made me take it off the hook. went out from about 4:30 to 7:00 pm. seems to be slow. there are alot of shad. saw some bass hitting on top water. none of the 3 were keepers. all in the main lake weeded areas.
are you talking about lake springfield? if so i was out wednesday and did not have any luck. i fished the lake this time and i saw them hitting the surface but no luck on top water. did not get a chance to fish the river much.
im in a 14 foot boat witha 5 hp briggs on it. i can make it past 60 but dont know how far i can venture up much further. i usually have luck with plastics. i am getting some jigs made for me so i will have to try those next week. learning to bass fish this year has been fun.
I am not sure. I am hoping to hit lake springfield this evening around 5:45 or 6:00 hopefully the wind will not be bad at that time. if not tonight i am gonna hit it 1 of the next 2 days or both. take advantage of this nice weather. have they been biting?
