Is it true that during a night tournement that these guys "pop" the air baddler of the bass to help them get back down when they are released?? I was kinda described how it was done.. It something I dont want to post because if no one is doing it I hate to be the one giving out the idea....

over the past few weeks I been hitting the water over the weekends and late evenings... Ive noticed a few patterns the are getting some attention..... BIG TIME.. today I hit the water and Dan joined me for a little fun in the sun. starting at outlet 1, the fishing was really slow. I did hook up a couple and decided to move out to the drop-off, got a couple good rises.... yes top water!! then walk around to the lower side of outlet 1. that is were the fun really started... every couple of cast got some good rises... and then it happened... cast 1... a miss cast 2... right back on the same stop... another miss. Cast 3... HE INHALE IT.... a 22+" rainbow maybe a good 4lbs (if not more) Yes it was a freaking football.. yes the same fish hit all 3 times... WHAT A SHOW HE PUT ON.... he must have been in gymnastic... man could he jump and flip. He went air bourne about 2-3 feet out of the water.. I dont think Ive ever seen a big fish jump that high before. what did the take??? A grasshopper of course!! hoppers, crickets, ants and beetles are really going great on upper Taneycomo.. Dano... enjoyed the company and the chat...

There is a small creek off hwy 5.. (just out side the city limit of Hot Springs Village) it is loaded with panfish (bluegills and sunfish).. Also has a great number of smallies.. not any monsters.. about 7-14iner Great for 3 or 4wt rods.. I used to fish here when me and the ex-wife lived there (about 14 years ago)... There is also alot of small (back woods) creek in Malven... lots of goggle-eyes and more smallies.. If its still there ... use to be a tackle store in Malven .. the guy that run it like to fish alot of creeks, I cant think of the name of the store.. But I think he name was Richard or maybe Frank... I never did find any small trout creeks there.. but the big lakes where always great fishing Leonard

I Am Dumb And Need Help Please!
Leonard replied to Ozark Baby's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Great tips guys... One thing I like to do is strech the new line. since Ive started this Ive had less break off and lot less tangles. I carry around an old rapala (it has a busted lip)... after adding new line. I put the rapala on and find a old tree stump, log, bumper of a car, some strong... attach the rapala to it and sink in the hook a little, then I back up until I have completely pulled on the line off the spool. Next I bring in about 10 feet of line and just about as tight as I can start adding line to the reel.. while Im doing this, Im resetting the drag, so this is one thing I dont worry about on the water. .... -
wading is still possible down there.. just cant get to the rebar or the big hole...LOL we are starting to see some big fish (over 5lbs) moving in....... when this water shuts down... it is going to break loose.. Leonard

a security system is less then you really think... http://www.gadspot.com/product_info.php?&products_id=119 they even make systems that have a weblink, the computer starts beeping when the camera has pick up something.. only problem with that is all the boat going by setting it off....

bigred.. If I were you I would go over there to BCO.. Micheal can help you out.. bass pro just isnt the place for information for that.. shoot you could probably say you were going to Taneycomo to fish for bass... and they would laugh at you and say there is no bass in Taneycomo... as for as flies.. he has them there too....

I had to run into town and drop off a few flies.. with the sun still out, I headed over to the dam. Grabbed the fly rod and a couple "new" sculpins to try out on a few smallies. when I got to the water it was very low (lower then it has been). so I played around the outlet for a little. Sight fishing for a few big fish. I saw alot of big bow and browns there. a few cast and few bumps. One heck of a hook-up. and that was it. we noticed the water really starting to drop out. A friend was there so we call the dam and they had 1 unit going at 8pm. I run to the van to see what I had.... LOL... I forgot with all the spin fishing I had taken my vest in the house. I found 1 fly... a beaded PMS in a nat/tan. From about 8:30- 9:30pm caught probably 5-6, and then noticed the water dropping again. so I went down to outlet 2. walked in down by the old tree... first cast... a 17in brown... second cast a 15 in brown.. the next 4 cast all browns... I walked out a short time later catching close to 15, those first few cast and the browns was the ony ones for the night... all the rest was feisty fat bows.. Leonard

Hey Jim... Im so bust this week Im cant even see straight. as far as the flies....I think Phil has some in the shop.

Fly guy.. still looking for walleyes... need to check Taneycomo... Leonard

Sounds like you need to do a virus scan.. the red screen is a early sign of a bug or you need to clean out some "cookies"(No... you dont need a glass of milk for this.... but it helps and taste good when you do it...LOL)... the reason for the lack of post on the Taneycomo is because some people just doesnt want to fish the high water.. Some think just because the water is on (generating) you "have" just the outlets to fish.. After the flood gates it has made some AWESOME places to drop a line. another reason is the lack of room to cast a fly rod... I guess some has forgot it is possible to tye up a spinning rod with a float and fly and still be able to cast a good distance.. Leonard

Friday evening I hit the water about 6pm... and met up with D.T. Water was very high (over 710).. so we walked through the water and woods.. Using spinning rods and the PMS jig... D.T. started his evening off great.. ******* QUICK QUESTION****** Whats better then catching a 5 pound brown on a ultra lite??? ****answer** on Dave's second cast... he hauls the little honey in.... about a 3 1/2- 4lbs smallie.. and few cast later a white bass... and few more later about a 24-25in walleye.. and through the evening we caught the crap out of goggle-eye.. we ended up with 4 smallies ( the picture is the smallest of the night).. a white bass about 17in (Released)... 7 or 8 goggle-eye (released).. 3 walleye (a 24.. and 2 26's... MEAT)... Then Dave went and did it.... he caught a trout...LOL... after the the fishing just died off....LOL The walleye are still there and some really nice ones.. I Told Bill B. That I was throwing the 16-18in walleyes back... I thought he was going to throw me back.... LOL ________________ Saturday evening.. I got there just after 8pm and Fly2Fish was there so we fished together for awhile all we caught were trout.. the water was down. and the "special" fish just wasnt hungry.. we caught fish on beaded pine squirrels, PMS's and jigs.. Leonard

after work last night.. I decided to see if I couldnt hit the water for a bit (an hour or 2)..LOL... yeah right!! I got the about 11:30pm With a new pattern in the box (The HIBERNATOR) ... I headed to the flats.. 2 cast and the first fish was hooked up... 2 casts.. 2 strikes.... then 4 fish in a row.. back and forth.. missed some.. hooked some. within an hour I had 15+ fish... I decided that was enough and the rain was coming down.. As I turned around to head out.. I saw a car light.. well I head up and started to chat.. 3 young men get ready to face the night. well after talking to them for a few minutes, we decided since the water was off to head to the big hole.. within minutes all 4 of us was into fish and catching the pretty good... (Yes with the HIBERNATOR). most all the fish were FAT... very FAT.. full of fight.. and just a great time.. after it was all said and done.. around 3am... I had caught over 40 + fish Leonard

the spoon wasnt caught in the mouth... (I guess you can call it a snag).. I think what happened was as the fly was drifting though the water and the line itself went into the its mouth... he twiched making it feel like a strike.. when I got him in the fly was on the outside of the gill plate.. less the 2inches from the mouth.. ******I think what happened was as the fly was drifting though the water and the line itself went into the its mouth***** I was talking to a buddy in Washington. He tells me this ia a legal way to hook up salmon and steel head.. It is referred as Lining or Flossing....
