  1. Friday is a yes... 10pm top of the steps chute 2 saturday and sunday... momma has to work and I got the boys... but maybe try a little while saturday... you may have to help me... I think I forgot how to fish during the day..LOL Leonard
  2. I got mine and I like it!!! My van is not hard to recognize...
  3. Im working till 9pm... then Im headed to the water... I had to weigh the options.. 1. come home and spend time with the in-laws...NOT 2. come home and go to bed.. but then Id still hear the in-laws talking.. NOT 3. come home and watch Denver kick the crap out of the KC Chiefs.. maybe (even though I dont like Denver.. but I hate the Chiefs even more!!) NOT A FAN OF EITHER.... GO RAIDERS!! (even though they suck this year!!) 4. GO FISHING... thats what Im doing... anybody wants to join me... I should be there about 10:30pm... trying to talk my dad into coming out with me tonight... we maybe doing a little spin fishing... But hes a Chiefs fan.. so he may wait till the game is over unless it score is Denver 45/ Chiefs 3.. then he may come just so he doesnt have to watch the Chiefs lose another to Denver.. Leonard
  4. I decided I was going to go find me some dinner last night up by the dam.. so I needed one or two fish, 20-23in to bring home so I could stuff it with cornchips and smoke it.. here is what happened.. I got there at about 9:30 and meet up with Raincrow.. so I talked him into joining me for a little while.. I got geared up and we headed down the stairs at chute 2 I saw at least 5people in this area.. so we walk down the bank until we were out of their way... less then 5 minutes in the water hooked up on a nice 18 in brown (not dinner)... less then 5 minutes later another nice brown close to 17in (again not dinner).... well we fished through the rebar, down through the gaunlet and to the big hole...while fishing the big hole and listen to someone "JAMMING" the radio in the parking (at least it was good music), I caught 7 from the big hole. ... no size biggest was 15in rainbow... smallest was maybe 10in (not big enough for what I had in mind!)... Raincrow.. head upstream alittle early...not sure how he did... well I headed back up toward the dam... past 2 guys fishing the head of the rebar.. these 2 guys would be the only other 2 I see until I left.. Fishing the area around chute 1 and down pick up another 5 fish a still no size.. now it was almost 1pm so it was time to head to the house... Looks like im going to be hungry for another day or two!!
  5. Well first off ... It was cold!! second no wind, a little fog rolling on the water.. third I meet up with Randall from this site.. last but not finally... FISHING WAS GREAT!!! and we had the water all to ourself.. when we made it back up to our cars there was a truck in the parking lot... but I never did see any lights come on.. We started fish with a lite float by outlet 2 with scuds and eggs.. 30 minutes nothing... then we change over to a black beaded pine squirrel (Im thinking of a new name for this fly!) and with 5-7 hits in a row we started hooking up... we carried on till about 3am fishing the guanlet and the big hole.. then moving up close to outlet 1 where picked up a more... it was slow and cold.. but with the hits we were getting it kept us pushing on by the end of the night Randall caught somewhere close to 15 maybe 20 fish... Now for the reason of the name change to this fly... Ive been calling it a "pine squirrel sculpin".. but the name just doesnt fit.. Its not a sculpin!! It does not ride on the bottom.. It stays in the upper part of the water...somewhere around 1in - 2foot.. and if its beaded, its still sink but very slow and at the end of the drift it lifts back up into the middle of the water.... This fly is tied on a TMC200R and is made from pine squirrel... its a very simple fly and yet it is very, very effective... Some of you guys on this site know the fly Im talking about... So if you guys want to post your opinion on this go ahead.. or if you want to send an e-mail to me about this fly Im up for it... Leonard
  6. YOU GUYS ARE SICK!!!!! I like the twist about the baby beaver..LOL You and Terry really needs to get out more!!! Remember... If Your Dreaming... Your NOT Fishing!! Your turn Terry.. Leonard
  7. LMW.. I'd be happy to show you what I know during the day.. Its not much but im sure it will be enough to put you on fish... I not that much of a daytime fisherman anymore... so Im probably not the guy to ask about day fishing... but Im sure I can show you the basics that your looking for.. I like the night thing... where its so cold your line freezes in the eyes of your rod.... you cant strip out any line because the reel is froze up... you cant tye on a size 2 fly cause your finger is so num you cant feel them anymore.... full moon above, sky full of stars, owls hooting, coyotes barking..and darn beavers everywhere And you have the lake all to yourself and the fish are biting..... NOW THATS FISHING!!!
  8. Can I play?? Walter comes to the whistle... he should be about 15lbs this year... What a beautiful rainbow he was last year... I guess Im going to have to see him soon to get another picture of him... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/LeonardK73/bigbow.jpg (NOTE: this picture was originally copied and post fron this site!!!).. this was not my fish!!!!
  9. Isnt it great to have the water to yourself... great report...
  10. I got on the water about 9:30pm... Id say there was about 5 people there when I got there I rigged up with a glow indicator and started at just out from chute 2... had 2 hook ups on a scud... fished there for about 45 minutes and had enough... changed over to a olive sculpin and had 2 quick bumps... well I notice up stream by chute 1...I didnt see any lights on... so I moved up there.... there was1 guy up there using a spinning rod... 1st cast with the sculpin was a 17in brown, second cast was a 18in bow.... well for the next 45 minutes I was on fish.. and caught maybe 15-20.. missed alot more than that then the wind started to pick up... so I went white and heavier... pick up 2 more on a white wooly and then put on a white bunny leech caught 5 more dead drifting on the bottom (NOTE: Dont cast a weighted leech in the wind... it will hit you in the head ) all in all a good night... as I was leaving I run into fly2fish.. and decided to throw a rapala for a few minutes... caught 1 fish and then I started to see a little lightening and it was time to head home.. 2am
  11. fly2fish... I was thinking about going tonight.... but if your there I will be there to... I was thinking closer to 10pm.. The weather is going to get crappy tonight... cold, rainy, and windy... sounds like a good night to fish

  13. It's was great getting out and fishing with you and Rolan... Now for the topper of the night... No matter how well you think you know the lake... There is always a rock (or something) somewheres ready to take you off your feet... Last night was my night it jump out in front of me... "I went in"...only elbow deep.. caught myself with my hands and my knees... Yes... I did have a spare shirt in the car.. and another jacket Note: THAT WATER IS COLD!!!
  14. Flem... Nice catch!!! For some reason that back gound... I think Ive been there before.... Looks different in the daylight well since there are a few people posting some fishing pictures... Here is one of my favorite fishing pictures... IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THEN THIS!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/Leo...hefisherman.jpg
  15. Well I rather not stand jewel deep in water with a lightening storm overhead with a fly rod in my hand... I'll fish if its close but not over head... I dont mind fishing in the rain.. I enjoy it sometimes... Snow... it just depends on how deep its going to get... I got a van.. not a 4 wheel drive... 3 years ago (in Jan) I stayed overnight at the dam.. I couldnt get out till the next morning about 11am when the sun come out Ice... sorry guys... I live right on Table Rock lake... there are a few hills between here and there... If Im coming off Taneycomo in a ice storm.. I hate to end up in Table Rock before I got home to drink a cup of coffee
  16. OH MY GOSH!!!! I think we need to go get Terry.... I think fishing fever is setting in on him.... Terry... talk your wife into bring you down... I'll bring a chair for you to set in and a stool to prop up your leg.... Ice packs, heat pack, Crown (to help with the pain).... Shoot If anything I'll cast the rods and hand it to you and you can strip them in... just say when buddy!!! Leonard
  17. the wife was working nights... but has now swithed to days... Most all nights are open.... nights that are already booked Nov. Sat 11 Tues 14 Thus 16 Dec. Mon 4 Thur 7 Tues 19 Wed 20 Leonard Most trips start about 9-10pm and should end around 1 or 2am
  18. DT.. I hoping your talking about acrossing as soon as the horn goes off... and not just after your seeing the water rises... theres not many places... but heres a start.. the area above and around chute 2... just above the ripples about the rebar... the is a place just above the mdc boat ramp thats crossable...but cant tell you exactly where you have just a few minutes (about 10) beforw the water really starts to come up.. and that with 1 unit on... if they hit 2.. you really need to move across fast hope this helps... hopefully someone can give you more... but these are the place I cross safely Leonard
  19. There is a big differance in snagging and foul hooking.... snagging your trying to foul hook a fish... someday stand at the stairs above chute 2... and you can tell who trying to snag a fish.... yes there are alot of fish foul hooked.. but when you see a guy set the hook like he's trying to win the bass masters classic at the end of ever drift... that's snagging!!! I was down a few days (maybe a week) ago and saw 5 people standing in chute 1... yes there were all 5 standing there... and shuffing there feet.... I watched them for 10 minutes... and between the 4... I think there caught 2 fish... and foul hooked (or snagged) atleast 15 fish... I left and was going to head down stream... seen a couple of guys in the parking lot.. and started BSing... the guy who was right in the chute (the main shuffler) walked up and was talking about the day he had... caught over 200 fish in 5 hour...
  20. Phil... you should have joined us... we werent leaving... we were headed up to chute 1... but yes it was a slow night... we ended up leaving about 12:30... I think each of us caught a couple fish.. Leonard
