  3. Leonard

    Head Count

Hey guys... Momma and I are talking about it.. It looks like we will probably be there... Ollie... I have some thing from the last one I can bring if you need it.. Also.. You may want to look in to some latex gloves (extra protection).... never know whats living in that water. I'll also bring my waders (and maybe a rod.. to play before everone gets there..LOL)
  4. Yes thats the Kitchen table!!! Momma didnt care about that.. Should have heard her the morning she went into the bathroom and I had the tub 1/2 full of water and 3 big walleyes in there....... when I say that was #30 ... That is how many I have taken home... Between 22 and 30 inches.... (Dont tell Babler this)... But I probably caught close to 45-50 walleyes that were in the 15-19in range.. and released those.. I mean would you reather clean 4 16in walleyes.... or 1 25in walleye....
  5. Here you go... Late night fishing at Taneycomo... This was the first night (after the flood last year) they shut the water down.. with a 7wt fly rod.. and 8lb maxima leader.... It was caught (snagged) just a couple inches outside of the mouth on the cheek.. Troutn was with me this night Not sure what it would go.. but several people says in the 60lb range
  6. Ok... June 24th... 2009... Leonard
  7. HA HA HA HA HA IN a year this makes # 30 for MEAT ANd yes that is the PMS jig in the corner.. and the rest of the night a few here and there.. but it was SLOW! Leonard
  8. HOLY &%$#... Here we go again!!! First things first... If any of you have a 25in trout.. In a picture post it... Lets look at the size.... Andy stand between 6'6" and 6"8:... he looks like a linebacker.... (and for everbody who know Jerod .. aka. centerpunch.. knows how big he is)... Andy is about the same size if not taller.... Laker... you know Jerod!!!! Im just under 6'2"... most everyone on here when taken a pictures of a fish "WILL" extend their arms to show the lenght of the fish better.... NOTE: I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS!!! rather you want to believe me or not.... that up to you... this fish was a solid 25in................. Next.. The Hibernator is a streamer/leech .... it CAN be used either way... How to tye the Hibernator... Tie in your pine squirrel tail... then your polar chinelle... make 2 wraps with the pine squirrel and then line up the pine/chinelle together and wrap at the same time.... NOTE: sometimes you might have to back up alittle to line them back-up.... Hope this anwser everyones question.... (and thoughts!!) Leonard.
  9. The hibernator... http://lilleystacklestore.com/xcart/produc...at=0&page=1
  10. I hit the water last night around 9pm.. started off in outlet.. High water.. did a bit of indicator fishing with midge and SJ worm (since it was raining)..pick up about a dozen in about45 minutes time..... well the water was starting to drop and I went up to the car to change rigs... I switched to a streamer rig and started with a PMS around outlet 1.. picked up a few.. switched over to a hibernator.. and the fishing picked up... I met Andy (from KC).. and he asked what I was catching them on.. I give him a hibernator... and with in a few cast... he caught this BRUT!!! 25in rainbow...
  11. The 3 guides you should look into for probably both lake (off the top of my head).. Bill Babler, Bill Beck, and Don House... I dont know if Eric Prey does both lakes or not... these 4 probably spend more time on both lakes then anyone I can think of... (right now).. Im sure you can work something out on hitting both lakes the same day... or one lake one day and the other the next... (Note: If you want to fish both lakes with the same guide.. Id call them to make sure you can get with them).. These guides full up pretty fast!! May and June fills up fast...
  12. Hey Bman... It was good chatting with you the last time you were here... I came home and started play with a few different thing... Wait till you see these flies...LOL Next time you up shout... and we have to walk the banks... Leonard
  13. Ok... There is alot of opinions about this... As Ive said before.. Most people rather someone release a fish 22in or bigger... GREAT!! someone else can catch.. But take into factor.. If you catch a fish on 7x tippet that is say 8lb (say close to 25/26inches long).. Most of us will take a picture and turn it loose and brag about it later... WHERES THE FISH.... more then likely you fought that fish to death and it is DEAD on the bottom of the lake somewheres.. When it comes to keep and take.. or catch and release.. If your gonna release the fish make sure it "WILL" survive and not end up dead on the bottom... those are the fish I reather see taken out... dont care about the size (as long as its legal) Like a few years back.. Was down there night fishing.. some guy caught a big pig of a brown (we measured her at 28 1/4in)... He caught her around the big rock just below 2.. landed her.. brought her up to the pavillion.. take about a dozen picture and then (OH... THIS PARTS GOOD!) Then tried to release her... A he was quit surprized when she didnt make it... hmmmmm?? darn if I know... this one puzzles me too!! I really dont care about the fishes size... if it over 20 inches and you dont think it will make it.. take it!! (But try to give the fish a chance.. it could take a minute or 2 to recover.. or it could take a half an hour..
  14. Thanks Henry... And the owner of the fly rod has called...
  15. Back at the end of last year we lost both our PC and Lap top... I think due to age... (both were about 8-9yrs) We tried to do a quick fix.. so we ran to wally world and got a e-machine (tower).. We thought it had a bug in at when we got it... it did.. Also I just found this.. the virus program the recomended for this tower had a Trojan Worm in it.. and we it uploaded 2 a horse and a spider (I think this one is new!! WATCH OUT FOR IT!)... dang near couldhave started a farm with this!! LOL so we upload a new one and cleaned out the system.. I think Ive lost alot of data because of this.. BUT... we never used this tower for any "private" activity.. (Like passwords to bank accounts and cards) Here is what was happening... I would sign into a website and it would boot me out within about 5-10 seconds.. up toward a minute.. So I tried write a few post and tried to copy a paste.. the word would be all mixed around (I know.. whats the difference, I cant spell anyways right)... Well I think we got it fixed.. so Now for a little catch-up.... Leonard
  16. The cold weather "here" does mean squat!! Table Rock Dam sell the power they generate to other states.. If they were to sell power to the city of Branson... They would need to add at least 3 to 4 more generators.. and run it 24/7 full bore. TRD sell the power to states like Az, Nv, Colo, and I also think Tenn, Ken, and either Neb or Kansas if not both.. So yes it maybe cold here.. but the power is going to different states. Yes some of it is also as Terry said.. To control the lake level.. Last spring before the flood.. The lake was sitting close to 885 to 887.. Think back to the fall before that... Everyone was complaining that they "wasnt" running water.. A lot of leaves, branches, and just crap was building up on the bottom of the lake.. You would walk through the water and it would smell like a sest pool.. IT WAS STINKY!!! It smelled worst the the water that comes out of the hatchery when they flush the runs.... It is very possible to fish Taneycomo in high water... wading... And NO you dont have to stand in the outlets to do it.. there is about 2-3 miles of water above fall creek.. lots of room and if not... You dont alway have to fly fish at the dam to catch fish... Taneycomo is a big lake there is fish everywhere... so many place to fish... Leonard
  17. Thought of a couple more.. Before the happy pills kick in.. LDR.. Long Distance Release The Mug Shot.. Up close an personal picture of the fishes face (AKA..mug) The combo trio... used under a indicator.. A midge/sowbug/scud duck tape... just in case something goes wrong. (e.i. reel falls off, rod tip breaks, slip and fall and gash a hole in your waders)
  18. The HORN..What makes a Duck poo and run.. LMF.... When you loose your better half.. She is down stream catching fish without you FMW.... When you find them and fish stop bitting.
  19. Go to the doctor get a gash in the belly 10 stiches.. come home laugh so hard.. Went back to get a couple replaced.. Now this was FUNNY.. (the happy pills probably made it funnier...LOL) Leonard
  20. Sweet fish Michael..
  21. 12-30-08 I met up with Chad and his wife Kerri (hope I spelled that right.. so many ways to spell it)... well with a week of low water.. yep.. they run the water this night.. We fish outlet 2 with the Midge/sow/roo combo.. Kerri tore them up and even catching a true double 1 on the bug and another on the roo. Chad well I think he was having fun just watching her catch'um. Although he did catch a good number and was happy. Later after the water was shut down we went searching, I thought KOA would be great .. man was I wrong.. well we went back up to the outlet to try a few more.. not many there... I think chad picked up 1 more. 12/31/08 New Years Eve night (into the new year!) I met up with a great friend (3rd year in a row for us fishing into the new year) at the Pavillion and had a cup a coffee. I found out that Chad and Kerri had already beat me down there for a second night on the water. John and I head up top so he could "test" a HIBERNATOR... I think he said... It passed the test and it will catch fish!! he was using olive/UV purple.. and I was using the Black/UV purple.. we made the first run through outlet 1 almost down to 2.. caught some really nice fish.. time for a warm up, snack and of course coffee... after the break... we went back up and started all over again... same flies.. more fish.. alot more fish.. well the temps has really started to drop out.. low 20's and stuff was freezing.. even us.. so we called it a night around 4am.. AWESOME WAY TO END THE OLD YEAR AND BRING IN THE NEW!! Id also like to thank everyone who help out and help supply everything that we needed to do this.. Next year 2010... lets make it a bigger one!!
  22. OSUC.. If it was me.. Id throw cloes and little jakes.. Jig fishing at cooper creek I think would be very diffucult if your bank fishing (or even off the dock).. I would think jig fishing either up by the dam.. or downtown Branson.. between Scottys and the landing.. then you got Roark Creek.. havent heard many report from there lately... but alway worth a shot. Leonard
  23. Paul.. when does it start?? answer.... when ever you get there.. join in.. Most likely you will see a few guys hanging out in the pavillion area... or grab a rod hit the water and when you smell Terry's cooking (not just Terry)... you will know it time to head that way.. This may also help... about 10:30-11:00am.. we will start fire up grills, fryers, warming up with some coffee.. Leonard
  24. Now that sounds like a plee for "hot totee" instead of special coffee.. LOL.. That does sound a little better though... Hummmm... 4 thermos's = 3 coffee and a hot tea ( who want to pick the "JUICE" for the tea??)
  25. Is everyone ready to fish?? food is ready... flies are ready.. I think Im ready..LOL JJ... we still hooking up??
