B1.. I was fishing on Taneycomo (downtown Branson) one afternoon.. a gentleman and a friend of his walk over to me and start catch fish like crazy.I started talking to them.. One of them was using a ultra-lite with a dime (yes money)... and the other guy was using a nickle (yes money).. They some how bent the center of the coins slightly to give it a wabble in the water... I was throwing a silver cloe and they out fished me 4-1... One of the guys showed me a bottle cap (I think it was a MGD cap).... he put it on.. and every cast he had a fish. These guys stood there for over 2 hour and I swear they caught over 75 each... And I maybe land 20... If I remember right I got his name and address .... he was from the KC area.. Was this you??? Leonard

BigBassn I have lived with in 4 miles of table rock for over 30year... ever time I have caught a big gill was around Big ceders cove, or in and around 86 bridge, or the north bank around Gages docks.. I have pulled out a few nice (pan size) gill over around the dam and moon shine beach.. but this has been years ago.. If I was to start hunting for big gills these would be the place to start.. and I would add the cove in and around Oakmont and dont forget the dock close to the in-water trees... I would focus on the areas around 86 bridge... Minnows, night crawlers, rooster tails... and even flip a wooly bugger or two at them. Time of year I had the best luck was early may through mid july.. and in July it was early morning or late evening about the time the sun was coming up or setting.. Leonard All of these locations has produced some nice goggle-eyes as well.... I would be more then happy to chase them with you as we would split the BOUNTY!

the wife wants me to start on it too... here.. www.chantix.com http://www.chantix.com/content/Chantix_Bra...ed_Homepage.jsp SIDE EFFECTS: 1. nausea 2. changes in dreams 3. constipation 4. gas 5. vomiting the way I see it.. after drinking a few (some/alot) beers.. most of us will have nausa.. gas.. and more then like end up vomiting.. and if we drink enough.. then the change of dreams could happen (until we wake up and it becomes real!!) SO...If these are the side effects.. I think most of us could survive.... Leonard

I like to swing drift it a deep fast water. Toss it out, and strip the line to keep it tight. but other then that.. Just letting it set in the water.

EXTREMELY HIGH WATER!!! The water was over 710.6 .. not the highest Ive ever fished but man was it high.. Stared off in outlet 2 with a midge (size 10) and a red SJ worm (size 12). The water was moving so fast the big midge didnt even get down. so I ended up going a 3 fly rig. The midge/ a weighted size 12 sowbug (black) and a jig egg. Running about a 10 foot leader with the midge set about 4 1/2' under the indicator. I finally got to them. It was a very slow night. Picking up 4 on the egg. Then switch back to the SJ worm (red). Picking up 2 more. Then I put on a big pink sj worm. with 2 more there. Well as I was watch the drifts I flip on the light and noticed the flies still was gettting all that for down. then went to a mohawk sculpin at the end.. Pick up 5 more fish. All in all still able to fish. The water was very high. The bite wasnt there but did pick up a few. Walk up to outlet. Just to much water. The water was all the up to the bottom off the step. I fished from about 10pm- about 12:30am Leonard

Dead Rainbows Coming Out Of The Outlets?
Leonard replied to zsmith62's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Zs.. when I said chocolate... The water would have been a brownish color... with a hatchery flush.. this is useally what happen.. first a lot of bubbles starts to flow out into the water.. a few minutes later the little (a few nice ones) starts taking thing off the top of the water (trout pellets).. next comes the brown water... alot of the time dead fish are mixed in with the brown water.. a short time after the water clears.. you see a few fish here and there coming out... Im guessing these are the one that got caught on thing (rock, stick, ect) in the outlet and finally broke loose and started it way back down.. Zs. I sent you a PM.. did you get it?? -

Dead Rainbows Coming Out Of The Outlets?
Leonard replied to zsmith62's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Zsmith.. The dead fish coming out of the chute is not a bad thing.. nothing wrong with it... Also was the water a chocolate before it happened?? (or right after) This is called a hatchery flush.. They are cleaning out the hatchery.. either getting ready to transport fish for stocking or moving the fish to get the holding run ready for the next batch of fingerling. -
Hey guys.. This is one of those he said she said things.. My understanding is the Kings and the James is seeing alittle action around the mouth and brush piles..(and the deep bluffs) Fact: 2 guys came into the gas station tonight with 25 crappie said they caught the on the james (holding 15-20') .. heres what got me.. they said they caught them on little cleos and spoons (jigging).. I did see the fish.. but I didnt see the rods they were put away in the storage bends... Leonard

Granted outlet 1 has withstood the test of time and 100's of 1000's fishermen walking all over it. Standing on the banks, walking in and out, moving rocks. I mean it could come right down to the most simplest things. Like someone looking under a rock to check for bugs (scuds, sowbugs, nymphs) and didnt put the rock back in the proper place. High water soften the gravel, increased flow. The gravel starts to wash out. Someone walks through there a little more gravel gives away. Well then the process has started.. Next ... someone walks through the outlet and trips/stumbles over a rock jaring it a little bit. then you have change in flow. I really think it was the cause of the increased flow, high water (that soften the gravel),someone step on a soft spot some gravel, a rock that changed the flow, put all that together and the wash out has began. I noticed this back in early spring, I said something about this at a TU meeting and I guess at the time it was not nothing to really worry about. But it did get alot worse. At the time the wash out was just barely moving the gravel (just a small little area), well by early summer it was getting bigger and deeper.

I think personally there was a couple of reasons. first, High generation this past spring (2007), They run alot of water for a long time. second. Increased flow after outlet 3 was shut down to build the ladder. third. I know guys moves the rocks around in the outlets, to change the flow and direction of it. Here is a picture of what the bottom of the outlet liked like in late summer (2006) the outlet use to be about 6-9in deep and you were able to jump across it.
