  1. well I guess it happened today!! Im guessing somewhere between 11:30-1:30 (when I was napping) we are now over 4,000,000 hits
  2. I was ther night ater the storm passed.. it was really icy then... But now almost all the ice and snow is gone here (Ridgedale) but keep your eyes on the weather my knee is hurting.. there is another change in the weather coming... Leonard
  3. I have alot of gloves.. reg ones, Neoprenes, fleece... I really like the ones Randall had... Thin small one man did they look comfy!! The glove I have I just dont like... the neoprene is big and bulky.. I have to take them off to unhook a fish... fleece just dont like the feel.. reg glove.. if they get wet you get cold!! I have yet to try wool...Like fleece I dont like the way it feels.. but Im willing to try anything... But here is a small trick I found.. Carry some vasilene with you (it will freeze if left in cold to long)... rub it on your hand and it sheds the water keep your hands warmer and dryer... Only bad thing is it really feel awkward it gets really greasy but after a few times using it.. you get use to it
  4. I like my vest... although a small chest pack to put a few odds and ends in would help me out... I like to carry an extra flashlight with me at night and a few spare batteries... well just here lately I have been blowing blubs in my light (I think its the cold weather that does it)... so I decided to get a new pair of waders the has a few extra pocket on it.. but I have also thought of a small back pack...
  5. LMF... since the DO levels or still low the faster water has the most oxygen.. there for you'll find more number of fish in these areas.. that another reason you see a lot of fouled hook fish... Flysmallie... Im not expert or an instructor at casting... but I think I can help you improve a little on your casting...
  6. Is this Banana Nut bread were talking about??? That is my weakness!!
  7. This was talked about on a different topic... so I like to make one for this only... Who is up to fishing on New Years Day.. we'll try to meet at the pavillion between 8-8:30am... fish and BS and get to know everyone... any takers???
  8. Chris... You picked the 2 nights I cant fish.. or Id love to join you... tuesday night the wife is working.. wensday night Im working... If I was to come out wensday night.. I wouldnt be down there till after 1am...hummmm?? I think about that one.. I wont rule it out.. yet!
  9. 9:30pm I hit the water to find 1 unit going strong.. it was almost the the bottom of the stairs at chute 2.. well as I got rigged up and ready.. I decided to start with a scud and red egg dropper till the water dropped out... first 20 minutes 13 fish.. 1 of those was on the scud.. biggest was an 18in brown and a 17 in bow.. well about 10pm.. or just after they shut the generator down.. I think.. the water started dropping fast.. well for 45 minutes to and hour I had the water all to myself.. and a couple of guys showed up to fish chute 2.. well I started working my way down stream head to the rebar.. I tried.. pine squirrels (2 hits no fish).. white woolies (nothing), zonkers (nothing), leeches (1hook up, but come off)... well then I decide to go all out and try my new bugs (the Matts Bug #12 maybe #10) in moroon (sp?).. BINGO!! I had it.. 4 fish in less then 10 minutes.. well then they shut off.. so I went bigger.. to a fly kinda revised... the CPS (it a sculpin) 15 fish in about 45 minutes and hits like crazy.. then I was almost done... I want to see if I could draw a few strikes on a olive Mohawk... Oh I did!! last 4 fish of the night was a 22in bow, 20in brown, 24in brown and a 18in brown.... I ended the night at 2:30am and with a cold... oh well I be back out tommorrow to get some fresh air... so it doesnt set into fishing fever Leonard
  10. Jcvistait.. there are big fish in the area year around... the trick is to know where... and where to avoid other people.. yes the chutes will always have people in them.. yes a lot of people fish the head of the rebar.. fast water.. alot of fish and I think it is a staging area for spawning fish.. I wonder how many time a day those fished get hooked??
  11. thats way night fishing is so much fun... 30% of the time you have the "WHOLE" lake to yourself.. you may see a light or two on... but there up by the cable and your fishing the big hole..
  12. Interseting... I had no idea someone owned that... is it the whole slough or just the land around it and the train track? Thanks for the information.. Leonard
  13. The are probably some nice crappie in there now.. I havent seen anyone fish it in a long time... if you decide to try it and a little canoe or a small boat... Id be have to tag along to help carry the boat...
  14. Well I met up with topjaw and centerpunch today... fishing started out slow.. but then got better... hit the water about 10am.. and fished till about 1:30... it looked like they were running 2 generators... but I guess it was just 1 all the way.. started up around chute 1 (well fished in it)caught nothing...as the water started dropping I noticed some working the top Im guessing a good midge hatch... well from the I started fishing a #16 softhackle, picked up 4.. broke it off (the last one I had).. so I put on a #18 crackleback, caught 3 more.. well they broke for lunch and I stayed (thanks guys for lunch!!) well they were gone less then 10 minutes and I caught 4 in that time... ate lunch and the the fishing took off... I pick about 7 more fish on a good'ol white wooly.. I caught some where around 15 fish by 1:30... I would add their report... but I'll leave it to them.. they have 2 reports to add.. todays and last nights... Guys... you never showed me the picture...LOL Im waiting!! Leonard
  15. Yes ... I was just kidding about it being to cold for them... I kinda figured the roads was going to be a problem... oh well they will just have to make it up some other time.. By the way I headed to the water to fish with them now... oh no... that would mean I have been fishing 3days in the past 2 weeks... oh well I call it sight fishing for later tonight
  16. MAN WAS IT COLD!!!! there is the report..... OK here it is..I got to the water about 9:30 pm as I was to meet up with topjaw and centerpunch... I guess it was to cold for them.. so I had the water to myself.. when I got there it looked to be 2 units on.. but after getting my waders on and rod lined and rigged.. went down the stairs.. it then looked like they were dropping it or still had one going I started off with a weighted egg #12 and a dropper Roo bug size 12 fish under a lighted indicator.. didnt catch any thing on the egg... but did catch 9 on the roo... well after that I decided to olive pine squirrel.. caught another 6.. this was one fish on every cast.. 6 cast= 6 fish they hit it solid, I didnt even have to try to set the hook.. I loved it.. but I had got the inside of my gloves wet.. so my hands started to get cold.. it is now midnight.. and time for a cup of coffee!!
  17. crappiefisherman... I have fished that a few time... its been a few years ago... yes it has fish in it.. yes you should take a small boat... oh yes that thing is full of snakes and turtles... its is only about 3 foot mostly... but I remember that is alittle pothole in there just under 5 foot deep.... DO NOT TRY TO WADE THIS WATER... mud bottom!!! the fish we caught when we fished it were: a few smallies (nothing over 10in) some LMB (biggest was about 17in) crappie (nothing over 8in) bluegills (all just under hand size) Im not sure but I think someone told me at one time that was a fish hatchery.. then the one at the dam was built.. so then they turn that in to a water treatment plant... Leonard
  18. oh come on guys... I'd do it if it was for a "GOOD" cause!!! and by the way its not do it naked... you can do it with swimming shorts one and a t-shirt....

  20. Last night as the storm came through.. wind, rain and a drop in tempeture.. flies of choice.. egg sucking leeches and sculpins size 12 weighted scud gray with a dropper SJ Worm in size 12 about 2 1/2in long with a pink band.. under a lite indicator black size 6 sculpin.. nobody on the water... Not even me.. wish I could have been there....LOL Leonard

  22. For almost $800... I hate to tell you.. thats a creek chum... not even a trout..
  23. I dont think line is that big of an issue... mono or flourocarbon... I myself use mono... 4-10lb Maxima line... Chuck, Brett, and countless other guides site fish using scuds, eggs, sowbugs ect.. and they know how... yes true you may catch more fish on a sunny day with no wind and no chop on the mwater using 7x or even 8x tippet (flourcarbon).. but I have caught my fiar share of fish use Maxima line as leader.. Yesterday I was there almost all day... I was using 3x orvis leader and about 3 foot of maxima tippet 6lbs... site fishiing with a sculpin .. I caught maybe 30+ fish until the wind picked up.. It could be just the way I fish it.... but .. I dont think so.. just my thought.. Leonard
  24. 35 days left!!
