  1. Welcome aboard, Kev. Russ Doughty
  2. I mixed a rich solution of 2 1/2 to one to bring them in but it hasn't worked. can you mix it too sweet?
  3. I told that story in an article I wrote for a local paper years ago. It's an oldie but goodie.
  4. You're an artist, Duckster!
  5. Good write-up, Bubby. I'm proud of you. Dad
  6. I had some recent luck on the White on a nitro caddis in chartreuse, when the caddis were hatching, fishing it down and across.
  7. welcome. leave some reports and updates. we are all anxious to read them.
  8. "Really? Apparently the trout were just barely getting by for preceding 60 years. Not sure how it became so popular or produced a world record?" Wayne, if you'll notice, I didn't say it wasn't good for the trout, I said I didn't like it.
  9. Try Hook & Hackle for your components. They have a ton. Also thread and glues, tools, blanks, you name it.
  10. 3 buddies and i fished bssp Thursday and the morning was very slow. I only had 4 by lunch time. We went down below the stone bridge after lunch and did very well on a black midge with a copper bead on a #14 Tiemco 2499 spbl.
  11. I wonder how the new lake levels have changed the fishing in the Bull Shoals tributaries. I know the minimum flow has changed the White River below the dam A LOT, and I don't like it at all.
  12. #14 tan scud, or egg pattern under an indicator.
  13. I like an up locking wood seat; just looks classy. Without seeing the actual blank color, I hesitate to recommend a thread color, but try a couple and dab it with a drop of water to see what it looks like with epoxy on it. I use titanium snakes for the guides, but have done single foot before. Didn't notice any difference. Look on Google for single turn trim wraps. They really look great. Russ
  14. Holy crap! what a day!
  15. What kind of boat you got?
  16. Chris, there is a stream team for Crane. It is part of the Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers club. We do 2 critter counts each year and have a cleanup every Superbowl Sunday. For more information come to our next meeting the second Thursday in April at the nature center in Springfield at 6 pm. Lots of good times and some great information.
  17. My son, Rusty Doughty, and a fishing pal took his drifter and his 2 boys out on the river yesterday and the caddis were just crazy. We didn't have the right pattern, so didn't catch any on dries, but the fish were just busting the surface. We did manage some fish on nymphs and my buddy got a 19" brown on the last drift of the day. I spent most of the day playing with the grandsons. We seined the bottom and got a ton of big black stones and some golden stones.
  18. You have taken up an addiction from which you will never recover. Welcome.
  19. I take my 6 year old granddaughter trout fishing at a pay for play place in Highlandville, Mo. Sometimes she wants to catch fish and sometimes net the ones I catch. She loves to go with "Epa."
  20. highly recommend River of Life. wonderful people and good fishing. Blair and Patrick bridges and Sunburst are on highway H, I think, south of the 181/H junction. someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  21. yes, Mtn Home, Ark. Usually either the White or Norfork is off so you could wade one or the other. Fish dark midges under an indicator or strip a wooly bugger, or strip a 56er with a sink tip line.
  22. Jeff, it's good to have guys like you on the forum!
  23. 2499's are all I ever use for my midges. I use size 14 which is 2x short, so they are equivalent to 18 in length. you can always tie 'em short, too, if you want to make them smaller. Hook almost all fish in the upper lip and easy to get out. Well worth the money.
  24. I'll have a table there representing Project Healing Waters. Inviting everyone to stop and say HI. Russ
