  1. Thanks for the report FT, me and a few buddies are planning to go down and try to catch some crappie this weekend. Hopefully i'll have a good report to give when we get back. What's the water temp/clarity like right now?
  2. Thanks for the all the advice Bill. You are right about table rock, the white bass there are well above average size. I can't wait to get down to Grand and chase some whites this year.
  3. I've never been down to grand lake but I have heard good things about the white bass fishing. What is the best time of year to target the whites? I've gone down to table rock the last few years in late march/early april to get in on the white runs there and had some decent success, but I didn't know whether spring or fall would be my best bet to fish for them at grand.
  4. Went down to LOZ this past weekend and absolutely slayed the crappie...We caught some suspended in 20 ft of water and others shallow. One of the best spots we found was in 3-6 ft of water. It seemed like about half of the fish we caught were still full of eggs, so the spawn's not over quite yet.
  5. Sounds good, I'm heading down there this weekend to do some crappie/bass fishing...Can anyone tell me what the water temp/clarity is like up the Gravois Arm?
  6. Look for fairly steep bluff banks and fish them methodically with a drop shot.
  7. Anyone have an up to date water temperature? I haven't been down there for a few weeks.
  8. In my past experience the water clarity in this part of the lake seems to remain pretty good regardless. A good number of fish should be shallow and willing to bite.
  9. A Senko or Texas Rigged Lizard (especially anytime I'm fishing around grass)
  10. Those are all good choices, and very effective... the only other baits I'd suggest would be a spinnerbait or swimbait if there's some wind
  11. I used the flouroclear for a while, it's decent i guess but i'm much more impressed with Berkeley Vanish or 100% Flouro...I usually use vanish since it's cheaper.
  12. Glad to hear the crappie are still going strong...unfortunately I won't make it down there for another 2 or 3 weeks, but I imagine we'll still be able to find a few papermouths when we do finally make it back down.
  13. Very nice fish, I wish I could've caught one like that up at the Big Bass Bash last weekend at LOZ.
  14. How's the walleye bite been going up there off the dam?
  15. Any recent updates on the water temp or water clarity at Mozingo?...I'm planning on heading up there for the first time this year if the weather forecast holds up. Thanks
  16. What bait did those two bigguns bite?...It seems like I normally catch bigger fish on jigs, but I've got some buddies who swear by both squarebills and spinnerbaits
  17. Concentrate on the peagravel and also try chunk-rock/peagravel transitions, a good number of fish should be spawning by then...try using a 1/4-1/2oz jig in PB&J or Green Pumpkin for bass and pearl grubs for crappie. A shakey head rigged worm should also produce good numbers of bass.
  18. I feel your pain, the weights on Saturday were ridiculous it took at least 5lbs to make it in the top 20...I thought I might crack the top 20 on Sunday with a 4.52 lber I caught flipping brush, but I missed out by 3.8 ounces. A friend of mine also fell 2 oz shy of getting a 3.0 and $500...I still had a good time regardless, but I would have much rather gotten a check out of the deal.
  19. Is anyone planning on fishing the Big Bass Bash this weekend? I've never fished one before, but I figured I'd give the one this spring a try.
  20. Thanks for the tip, I fish Lake of the Ozarks quite a bit so fishing docks should be right up my alley. We also did plan on setting some jug lines for catfish, but it sounds like maybe we could also do well with a rod and reel.
  21. I'll still throw the old texas rigged worm, it's what i grew up fishing with so it's hard to totally get away from it...a 7 or 10" tequila sunrise powerworm is my absolute favorite. I've caught quite a few good bass on the 10" in the summertime.
  22. Hey all, I've never been down to Grand Lake but I've heard good things about the fishery. A buddy and I are planning on heading down that way in mid June, what can we expect the bass bite to be like that time of year? -Thanks
  23. How did the tourney go? I caught a ton of shorts on a shakey head yesterday, but most of my better fish came off black/blue or PB&J jigs depending on the water clarity. My biggest fish was 4.5 lbs and I lost another good one at the boat. I only bass fished for part of the day since the crappie are starting to spawn.
  24. My buddy and I caught 2 limits yesterday, all of the fish were in 8-15ft over brush. We caught all of ours on chartreuse or white grubs. I can't wait to get these babies in the fryer.
  25. The crappie are definitely biting, we caught 2 limits yesterday all on pearl or chartreuse grubs.
