Ive been partial to a 3/8 Spot Remover head in black or grn punkin, paired with a Zoom Fish Dr in grn punkin. Its really produced for me this year, especially around cedars. Just my 2 cents
Fishing a spoon off a timbered point in the Kimberling area i boated my first rock bass. Heard alot about them but never had seen one. Little guy fought like a champ and was bulging with crawdads (he deposited some in the boat). Measured 10.5" and found out that qualifies for a master angler. Made an otherwise slow day pretty cool. Also, i wasnt aware they were a main lake fish, always hear about them in the canoe streams. Do they regularly come out of the Rock?
Jenny happens to be an aunt of mine. Havent talked to her in a little while but i think she is now working at Osage Bluff n Stuff. Nice to see all the positive remarks, shes a wonderful lady and her crappie jigs have certainly put $ in my boat more than once.
Have had great success fishing bedded fish in the james area on weightless 6" tex worms. Red, black, or motoroil. Otherwise not so much on TR. Truman/LOZ u betcha. The Warsaw river area between the 2 lakes is one of my favs for 11" worms
Thanks MST! Im more used to a "truman" approach but always looking to learn new things. Im assuming you guys use a chompers style skirted jig, any trailers you prefer? Ive used paca chunks in the past with good success but again the Rock is a new style for me. My jig rod is 6'6 with a 6:4:1 baitcaster and 14lb mono, wonder if 14 is too heavy for the water clarity down there?
So when you are using jigs on the bluffs and points and fishing the deeper water (15-30+), are you in contact with the bottom still? Also, do you prefer a spinning or baitcasting rod for the technique?
Great list, only thing id add would be 3" mister twister grubs in white on 1/8th oz jighead any color. Finest multi species lure i can think of, ive caught everything from sharks and pike, to cats and crappie on the ol standby
