I love this line "Kinda hard when they know how to get a snag, but don't know how to tie a knot." So true ! I got 3 girls I take out and a few friends that are higher maintenance then them.

When that wind picks up go off them points a little deeper and put on a crawler harness. I like the Lindy Brands. Kill the trolling motor and just drift that heavy wind and that spiiner on the harness will do the rest of the work. Red and pink colors seem to be doing better then chartreuse. Be sure you troll a blugill color crank through those same spots and you will possibly catch some big eyes feeding on them. My 3 biggest walleyes of the year I caught after catching a few shorties on worms and then moving to that color in a crankbait. My wife pulled in 3 short bass I cast the baby bass color looking for the eyes. Seems like Walleyes are the ultimate predator. They are eating what you are catching in those spots. The biggest walleye I had ever seen in Stockton was trailing a small crappie my daughter was reeling in. Up north we used to use bluegills to catch walleyes and Pike.

Do you vertical jig your spoons? I had a real tough time catching bass last weekend and for the past 3 weeks I can not seem to catch them on a plastic. Nearly every fish on a crankbait.

I am in for any tourney but I can not meet on Friday nights. I am on the lake by 5pm nearly every Friday. I have no idea how a crappie tournament works but I'll figure it out.

I thought we had a place for them Table Rock

A man's first Walleye! Unfortunately I will never have this experience. I have all girls. My 7 year old has landed every species and sometimes too many and her sisters usually outfish me too.

I usually do not fish much with all the traffic on the Holiday weekends but the high wind seemed to stick all the boats back in the coves tied up drinking. I actually did not have to battle boats, jetskis etc at most of my favorite fishing holes. Caught about 10-12 keeper walleyes over the weekend. The red and white crawler harness was the magic color drifting the points it caught a lot more then any other color. With the heavy wind that harness was really humming ! Had some luck in the morning casting a sunfish color norman little N. Caught a lot of small bass, some nice crappies and about 1/2 dozen whites. I only fished Saturday and Sunday but I thought the bite was pretty good for a holiday weekend.

right across the lake from Cedar is the Masters campground. Good fishing around that island. Their is also some old foundations over there that might have a few walleyes...... or jet skiers

Dang that sounds good. My wife is fish crazy so I eat more then I would like so I am always lookng for a new way to cook em.

Ran up to the RV last night. Went out for a few hours. The campsites are pretty full already and a lot of boats for a Tuesday night. Caught a few bass.

I caught some short walleyes in the back of the coves this past weekend. I think they are heading back up in the shallows feeding on hatch. I also just noticed your email about hookin up to fish some eyes and we can do that. I have a crazy schedule and it is hard for me to plan but we will get together.

Thanks for the tips and for sealing the deal for me. The Whites are getting thrown back ! Too much work when Walleyes r a plenty.

It was a funny Walleye weekend. I fished Friday night the walleye ways and had no luck at all. 1 small cat and a crappie. Decided to go cast the shore for some bass and caught a nice 18 inch keeper walleye. Sat was crazy with the wind and I had my Mom in the boat. Mom knows the ways of a Zebco 33. I was out of worms and she was nagging on me. I told her a real walleye fisherman can catch them on a jig. We put on a white grub and drifted in about 26 feet across secret fishin hole #9 and caught 3 keepers. We could not repeat it anywhere else and the drift was about 5 miles per hour due to the wind so we went back into the coves and started throwing that Goby at the shore and had some fun action. Sunday I took out my TriToon with the family and trolled between the swimming holes and ended up with 1 more walleye and some crappies. It is funny I catch more walleyes trolling out of my Pontoon Boat fishing with the kids then I do in my walleye rig fishing alone? I have a camper parked year round at Southwinds RV park so I always put my fishing boat in at Roark. I keep my Tritoon in a slip at the State Park Marina so I usually fish out of it on that part of the lake. I am almost always between twin bridges and the dam but with both boats at different spots I usually cover most of the lake.

I stopped by Fin and Feather I thought it was only for Fly fishing. This is my kind of fishing place. I did not pick up what I was looking for but will be back to stock back up on the plastics. As far as Academy's issue they just can not manage their inventory which is pretty Retail 101. I will go back for the hunting gear but even though Academy is blocks away they r no longer a fishin store option. Maybe in the winter when they are not selling anything. I guess good for them - sold out is a good thing.

I see you kept some White's. I have heard mixed reviews on the taste. Some guy was telling me they have a nasty blood line ?? I have caught many but have never ate any of them. Are they any good or any tricks to cleaning or cooking them ? I have eaten about everything else in the lake but never a white.

I was excited to see another option come into town. Bass Pro can be a little crazy and I am no fan of Wal Mart. Academy is no outdoors store it is a clothing store. They are sold out of everything, every time I stop in. I could not even find any 8 lb test line the last time I stopped in. Sinkers and red treble hooks - sold out. Beetle spins - sold out. Plum colored worms - sold out. They carry the SKU's but no inventory. I would not even waste the time to check here. It is probably sold out but they do have great runing shorts.

Pretty slow for me compared to what has been going on. Only caught about 6 keeper walleyes all weekend. I got pretty pissy with them and did not fish them that hard. Saturday the wind was pretty rough. Sat night I did catch some real nice bass and lost the bass of the year. I am sure he was 7 pounds. Oh, he got away, I mean he was at least 10 pounds. I found these little Goby plastics they were at the outlet store and we caught a bunch of smallies, large and even a walleye on it. Never tried anything like it but I thought I would pass it on. Looks like a little tadpole. It outfished everything most of the weekend and in certain holes it was the only bait we could get a fish to hit. We put it on a jighead and fished it like a grub. I am sure these critters are in the lake at certain times of the year but they were chomping them up this weekend. Yes the Idiots are out on the lake! The water temp was 74 and with it came the jet Skis and the Tubers. Fisherman Beware !

Sounds like a lot of fun besides for the Crappie part. But I will fish for anything. I have a walleye boat and a pontoon so If we're fishing crappies I might also have an extra boat if guys can fish crappies out of a tri toon. I am up every weekend so I am also flexible on dates.

I think the trick to catching walleyes all day is you need to pull up the trolling motor and move if your not catching any. They are either there and will bite a nigthcrawler or they are not. No sense in changing baits or colors like bass fishing. Drop your worm and if you dont catch any in 15-20 min or a few hundreds yards of trolling move on. Many days I can only seem to pull one or two out of a spot and then I move to the next spot and catch 1 or 2. Last weekend I found a shoreline and the bite was good all along it, all weekend long. Last night I got skunked at the exact same spot fishing the same way. I moved around the corner and caught 3 ? Nightcrawler on a jig, Slow death rig or a harness and just keep moving and fishing. This is the main reason I end up bass fishing. Versus pulling up and moving I often juts grab a different pole and get my fight on.

Walleye fishin was a little slow this weekend but quality replaced quantity. Only caught about 8 all weekend but we had 4 over 20 inches. Hard a hard time getting bites on nightcrawler so started trolling them and found em in about 28 foot of water. Seemed like I was having better luck down the shore about 100-200 yards vs right off the points?

I have been having a lot of luck trolling crankbaits for crappies in about 25 feet of Water. Chartreuse and pearl Flick R Shads. Nice big fish.

Took my wife fishing all weekend. Fri night and Sat was a little slow but Sunday afternoon it was game on. Every boat I seen was reeling one in. Managed to fill the live well with walleyes and Crappies and caught a bunch of nice bass. Baby bass colored Little N was by far the hot lure this weekend. Caught a few bass on topwater all the walleyes and crappies on nigthcrawlers and deep diving crankbaits. Caught about 5 white bass so something is happening with them I had only caught 2 all year up until this weekend. The seaweed seemed to be less of an issue this weekend and the water temp seemed to be 71 everywhere in the lake. I was fishing at secret fishin hole #4.

I am not in any position to make any changes fellas so no worries. I couln't catch any this weekend anyways.
-
I think I am probably ok with the size limit because most guys can not catch any walleyes anyways. I do love the idea of setting the size limits at the perfect fillet size for all species. I am just very shocked no season. I remember May 15th being as big up north as Nov 15th (opening day of deer season). It was a huge deal and the fish had time to do their thing.

Ok maybe not. Had another awesome walleye fish. I am pretty sure I have just about limited out every time I have gone fishing them. I have caught walleyes in many different locations then I have fished in the past few years which makes me think they are everywhere. Time for Stockton to raise the Min length or move to a slot length. 18" should be the min on a Walleye. I remember up north throwing everything back under 20" and of course we had a walleye season so you could not hammer them all year long. I do not have any new tips that I have not shared before so good luck and everyone keep fishing the Crappies, cats and Bass. It should be a great weekend. Big fish was 21 inches and only 1 fish under 15.
