  1. Grats on the big slab. Sure would like to have seen it. What area of the lake is your dock? I have been fishing mainly off the docks at the Alhonna resort over by four seasons. I am very curious what time of day you have been getting bites and how are the water temps right now. Also how deep are you getting bites.Thanx for the updates and for any more info you can give. Good luck fishin and be careful out there.
  2. It is a real shame and loss to lose fellow outdoorsman like that. This seems be coming a more regular occurence over the past couple of years and it is a situation that very well could be avoided with such a simple thing as a life jacket. A real tragedy indeed and my thoughts and prayers go out to their families and loved ones during this hard time. Everyone take care and be safe out there and for goodness sakes wear those life jackets.
  3. Just wondering if anyone is catching any good crappie over the past week. Was thinking about going out saturday but thought I might try to get a feel for how they are biting if their biting at all.Any info greatly appreciated.
  4. Was just curious if anyone has been catching any crappie off the bridge and if so what are they biting on,at what depth or side and at what times seem best. Any info appreciated.
  5. Nice catch. Have never fished the rock for crappies. Are there any good places a guy without a boat could go to do some dock fishing for crappies down there. I always fish lake of the ozarks for crappie and have had an incredible year up there but am looking for possible new spots to try a little closer to home. Any info appreciated and good luck to all and be safe out there.
  6. Fished yesterday from about 6:30 in the morning until noon and ended up with 15 nice keeper crappie all between 10-12 inches(caught approx 30 or so total). In the early morning hours were catching them in exactly 7-10 fow above brush under docks. They were hittin pretty hard and heavy til the sun got up then started catching them deep(approx 15-20ft)and the action was all but over by noon.Did also pull out three nice lm bass but all three were between 12-14 inches but fun none the less. Were using 1/32 and 1/8 ounce chart jigs with either chart nibbles or 2" gulp minnows.Water temps in the area were dead on 60 degrees with stained water clarity(maybe 2-3 feet visibility).Hope this info helps out and good luck to all and happy holidays.Be safe out there.
  7. Thanx for the info. I had thought that the crappie should be moving in for the last big feeding before they scatter and suspend for winter. It's nice to know that out of 63 views on this post that not all the people who fish this area are so insanely secretive about such things. I can chat with people back and forth about Stockton and Table Rock on this forum all the time without issue but when it comes to the LOZ fisherman they act like it's their lake and their info and will not share a thing with you.I thought that was what this forum was all about, fellow fisherman sharing info with fellow fisherman. Thanks again for the feedback Mike and good luck to you in your fishing adventures.
  8. I received some information stating that the crappie seem to be moving up in the shallows to begin feeding before the transition. Catching them approx 10-12ft deep using chart/silver jigs mainly and with minnows as well but also seeing them along the banks. Am curious if anyone can verify this info. Was thinking about going out and trying to get a limit this weekend. Any info greatly appreciated. Will be fishing Gravois arm around horseshoe bend area.
  9. What area are your dock and do you have any brush piles under or around them.Just curious.
  10. Was looking at coming up to to do some dock fishing next weekend. Was curious if the crappie have been tight under docks with all the heat or are they moved out into deeper water. Any info appreciated. Also curious how bad the boat traffic has been with all the excessive heat. Thanks for any info and good fishing to all.Stay safe and cool out there.
  11. Made the trip up yesterday to try to get into some more crappie. Fished the docks at the alhonna resort from around 8 in the morning til 3. Between two of us ended up bringing home 27 decent fish. All were between 10-12 inches with a couple 13 inchers as well. If included throw back fish probably caught over 50 all together. They seemed to be hovering between the 6-10 foot mark in about 25-30 fow. Caught all on the same 1/32 chart tinsel jigs with nibbles. We were fairly surprised with these results due to the time of year and with water temps as they are but definitely not complaining. Did have what seemed to be some light current running underneath the docks so that probably helped out some. With the numbers from this trip we estimated that since mid to end of march have probably caught well over 400 crappie all together out of this very same area this spring. I am curious if anyone might have any other good dock spots on the lake that have been very productive this season. Would appreciate any info on that and how everyone has faired this year fishing for our papermouth friends and if any ideas on how they will be the rest of the year. Good luck to all out there and be safe this summer.
  12. Thanks for the good info. I was fishing mainly in the gravois arm at a resort close by to the four seasons. It is really more of a secondary point not right on the main channel but pretty darn close and the docks do have substantial brush piles underneath. Is there any real good solid area or location that would offer these kind of conditions(current, correct depth, etc.) that you mentioned or is it a kind of hunt around til you find the glory spot. I do not normally bring my boat up there(is only a fourteen foot deep v with a 25 horse merc) but if there are any good and relatively easy spots to get to might consider bringing it. I am also curious as to how crappie would be during the night time hours when the temps are cooler and the water has quieted down. Any suggestions or info appreciated.I do love those crappie.
  13. Had not been up in a few weeks and was curious if anyone is catching any crappie under the docks. With the summer heat upon us and heavy boat traffic was curious how the crappie fishing is this time of year. Have not really tried for them in the summer months just during the spawn and early fall. Any info is greatly appreciated. Good luck to all and be safe this summer.
  14. Fished the very end of Horseshoe Bend Saturday and ended up with 36 nice crappie all together(only kept the best 15 of course).Still seem to be hangin in approx 10fow about 6-8 feet deep.Used a 1/32 chart tinsel jig tipped with a nibble all day without ever changing jigs. They started feeding around 10:30 in the morning all the way to about 5 before they slowed down. All were averaging around 10-10.5 but did get a really nice 14.5 female at one point that was packed full of eggs so let her go.Many others also full of eggs as well.I would think maybe a week or two before they should be done with the spawn and back to deeper water(any opinions on this time frame would be intersting to read).Good luck to all and good fishing.
  15. Thanks for the info.I'm hoping to do well both this Saturday as well as all weekend next week.Good luck and good fishing to all.
  16. My uncle has place on the Long Creek arm of the lake and I was down there Tuesday and can tell you that conditions that day were very dangerous to say the least.I have read and heard from different sources that there are some areas a little better than others but as a whole is still pretty bad at this time.I do know water patrol requested no boats on the water for at least the next couple of days and that most parks and launches it seem are closed for the time being as well.Don't want to put a damper on your trip plans.Only thing I could recommend is to keep checking for updates over the next couple of days and especially watch the posts on this forum and hopefully things will calm down and you guys can go forward with hopefully a successful fishing adventure.
  17. Thanks for the info. Was very curious how the crappie are doing and if they are still running shallow for the spawn. Will likley be up Saturday in the Horseshoe bend area.Good fishing to all and enjoy that beautiful sunshine.
  18. Would be more than glad to lend a helping hand where needed.Have the whole weekend free.Let me know.I check this site several times a day.Helping our fellow man and fellow anglers is what it's all about.Everyone be careful out there.
  19. Just wondering how conditions are after the big flood of '11. Does not appear that the lake is going up to crazy.Did not ever hear exactly how much rain fell in the area.Any info on this appreciated.Hopefully did not mess with the crappie spawn to bad. Good fishing and be careful out there to all.Let me know.
  20. Thanks for the info.I'll be sure to check into that.
  21. Just trying to get a feel for how much rain had fallen since yesterday's storms moved through. Didn't look like as much as was originally anticipated. Also curious as to what the weather forecast is up there from now through Saturday night and if anyone knows how the crappie are reacting to this weather. Thanks ahead of time for any info. Will be fishing in the gravois area.
  22. Thanks for the info. Was one end of the lake better than the other?
  23. Welcome to the Ozarks and good luck in your new surroundings.
  24. There are no better crappie waters than LOZ in the spring.Pretty darn good bass lake as well.My heart belongs to the magic dragon.
  25. Thats probably the best info i have received on this lake since starting on this site.I was a little concerned what the rain might do if it does get heavy.I had heard today they got a bunch of rain either yesterday or this mornin.I do think I will come up Saturday and give it a go and see what happens. Will undoubtedly bring the rain suit just in case. Thanks again for the info.Good luck in your fishing ventures and be safe.
