  1. caught em pretty good up the lake on shaky heads in rocky secondary points.. They are in transition and have sore mouths, sides and tails from the spawn. Caught them well shallow and even found a sparatic one or two on the ends of docks. Still think we are second week in June before that pattern becaomes solid. As for now fish all the laydowns and timber you can find during feeding times on steeper banks. Banks that dropped off to 15 ft of water in about 15yrds seem to be good places to throw the shaky head in.
  2. fished in the little buffalo and another cove around there. Caught two really nice crappie over 14 inches in 12 feet of water on brush under the docks. Caught thiry other keepers over 10 inches all on minnows. Jig fishing was slow and we caught a few little walleye as well! Thats a good sign they are getting more plentiful.
  3. Catching fish this year at the ozarks has never been sooo easy. Get yourself some square billed crank baits throw them on rocky flas in the backs of coves that have shap pushed in them. Throw and retrieve on fish after another. There will be lots of white bass mixed in with large mouths.... Its so easy a caveman can do it. Once that pattern dies out throw a black and blue brush hog on the corners of the docks right by the flats and nail them. Go back after you have caught those fish and the flat bite will be on again. Rinse and repeat.. If your not having the time of your life doing this you have no pulse.
  4. I caught lots of bass this weekend during the cold rainy days. Docks on secondary points that lead to small pockets in big coves were great. Also the parts of the back of the coves that supply deep water right before the cove gets shallow all the way back were great. Throwing a jerk bait around docks proved really good and caught every speices on it around the docks. Flipped a jig on brush behing docks with pea gravel and killed em.
  5. good advice lol not what i had in mind, maybe a half stick of dynamite could take care of a few of em
  6. The Carp Spawn is also on... It's terrible thousands of these guys roming the shallows and really dirtying up the water along with the rains expected this week i suspect by this weekend bass fishing could get terrible. Does anyone have experience with this? Good places to catch them? I love lots of places to catch post spawn bass like marinas and such, problem is not alot of bass are in post spawn right now and i would love to catch alot of spawning bass this weekend... Any advice would really help, Thanks
  7. was there this weekend all over the lake.... Crappie bite off but big mouths on like donkey kong
  8. the largemouth bass are on beds with that in mind some have already spawned and some still havent moved up the water is ssssllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllyyyyy rising but the bite is good right now bass are all over the lake doing a variety of things. The crappie are still spawning but most have completed and can be caught on brush in bunches 5-10ft of water around docks. No report from this guy on whites
  9. A Jig size depending on wind. atleast 3/8 oz and eakins jigs work really well in 3/8 oz missouri crawl color. wiggle worts have a wobble ozark bass cant refuse this time of year. Some shaky head worms green pumpkin slays em a popper early can really get some nice bites when these fish are on beds if fished slowly and a crawl bait texas rigged with a small quaeter ounze weight if there is no wind and maybe a little heavier if there is a little wind
  10. good to see you had a great time fishing.... Did the kids catch anything?
  11. Yeah I took some kids fishing with me over the weekend. I keep a small rope to tie on to dock lines to keep the boat steady and in place. I used a seven foot ultra light rod and flipped a minnow as far as i could and let it fall slowly when it got to the bottom i would slowly bring it up. You find alot of brush this way. When you find the brush set bobbers that depth for the kids and the crappie will bite. The kids fishing with me were 5 and 7 and used a princess rod and a hot rod car rod. They caught some really nice ones.
  12. In my 25 years on the ozarks I have learned the crappie will still be positioned on the backside of docks during these fronts aand the fishing right now should be really good even through the weekend. The bass tend to move quite a bit and become a harder bite when the water muddies up even more. With that being said... This time of the year try transition spots early throwing a half ounce missouri craw jig. As it warms up go further back into pockets slow rolling wiggle worts or spinner baits. If that fails throw some creature baits tx rigged with a quarter ounce weight down the sides of docks. Don't forget about the backs of the docks when the water rises!!!
  13. Caught them in the little buffalo and lick creek on minnows on the back side of docks. Limited out Saturday and Sunday and kept nothing under 10 1/2 inches. They key for us was to drop line to the bottom and slowly pull up they were all mainly on the back side of docks and docks on secondary points were best.
  14. Hey guys have read numerous posts in the past and joined recently. Fish the ozarks last weekend and slayed the bass and crappie. Only leaned the crappie of course. Just wanted to say hi. I sell nitro/tracker in olathe and always fish many local lakes and have parents retired right across from the little buffalo on LOZ so I know that area well. Good fishing and boating to ya all. Also interested in any local clubs in the kansas City area!
