Soft hackles, scuds, midges?

Headed down next week, wondering if anyone has recently fished below the dam?

A couple of guys that can dive up to 190 feet for over an hour are over there this morning. I haven't fished much around point 7 but apparently there is a big cliff over thata way that they believe they were diving when this happened.

I have been interested in doing this in the IP area, just wondering if you have problems catching turtles?

There's a big cliff off Jaques Island you should try jigging/trolling. If your not familiar with the area, stop by Indian Point Marina and ask one of the guys behind the counter.

There are walleye around Indian point but most people pick them up bass fishing.

Can you really target trout in TR, it just always seems to be dumb luck when people get them. A few years ago 10 or more, my grandad and uncle got into them well at the dam catching 5-10, I can't recall the exact number. Those fish would have done some serious swimming if the closest way in was dogwood canyon.

I know of many instances where rainbows have been caught in TR, but has anyone ever hooked a brown?

I work at Indian Point Marina so I can fish up too 5 minutes before work. My Brother and I got out Saturday Morning 5/10/14 around 6:30 and started working a gravel/chunk rock point. We were both using watermelon green twin tailed grubs, red flake, and the candy. He was Texas rigging them and I was using a 1/8th ounce mushroom headed jig with a wire brush guard. Saturday there was a slight breeze, very slight but we were immediately on fish. I would say in the hour and half we got to fish we had close to 10 with 3 keepers. Sunday morning 5/11/14 we left the no wake zone at 5:45 still using the same grubs. We hit up the same point but nothing, so we headed for a real long gravel bank that has an old boat ramp on it. We managed a keeper K, LM, and SM, and my brother caught another short K. The breeze didn't pick up as early as it did the day before. I did notice quite a bit of top water activity but was not prepared for it and didn't have much to through at them. Good Luck!

What kind of setup do I need

I have never caught one, and would at least like to mark it off the list. I don't fish the james by boat, can I guy do it from shore? Have you guys seen them going up river?

I told my buddies " if I was to lay a bet I'd say Michael Kyle is in that boat" how bout that! That's a great fish man!

Yes, do the whites or walleyes go up much farther? Could a guy find them at the Y bridge. Do either run up to horse creek?

A few times last year they either pushed food out the outlet or it was from feeding the fish in the hatchery and the excess made it to the lake, anyway things got slow after the major feeding frenzy. Maybe it happened that day? Caught a fish last night that puked up a lot of what looked like fish food.

Eggs were good if you are into night time nymphing.

Native or non native doesn't matter. The fact is we care about our fish and people need to be educated and practice c&r properly. I hate when a guy catches a 18 inch brown and picks him up by his gil plate so he can have his picture taken. That may have been the way to do it years ago but it isn't now.

A lot of times it's those that are exempt from the boaters safety cert that cause the problems.

I'm sorry the flyer does not say they are responsible but they are, it says beware. I have personally heard from numerous highway patrolman who frequent Indian point marina that boaters are responsible. They said if we got video evidence proving which boat caused damage then they could write tickets etc

They are if it causes damage. We have flyers at work we hand out to people, especially big boat owners about how they are responsible for their wake. These were provided by highway patrol.

what are your guys' favorite color of egg to use. A couple years ago mine was peach, it was straight deadly on Taney but have not had as much luck on it this year, pink has been so so. Multi colored being another decent one, in MO or ARK has anyone had good results using and egg with a dot in it? Overall, not just for one certain fishery, what is your favorite/most productive color of glo bug to use?
