  1. You need to check the stream gauge to actually know if it's wadable. I've waded with one unit but the cfs release was around 1500. Right now it says one unit but it is over 4000 cfs release. You won't be wading in that.
  2. Trout will eat that moss, check there belly next time you keep some to eat
  3. I sent you a PM with the fly recipe in it.
  4. I went yesterday and brought to hand 18. I consider that a slow day of fishing with the amount of time that was spent. I saw several people keeping fish, which is fine, but i'm sure the fish population is going to really drop with spring break people. I used several flies, just keep changing.
  5. With that place location seems to be the key when flow is low. People are catching fish, a guy posted he caught 41 yesterday on another site.
  6. March brown time right now, pheasant tail nymphs and zebra midges is what I would use if I could ever get there to fish.
  7. It was either midges or march browns I bet. You see anything on the surface, fly around?
  8. I know they haven't generated much but saw they did yesterday. If I'm not fishing I'm always looking at the USGS page on the LIR. I believe they have been doing work at the dam so that might be the reason for the lack of generation. Maybe the generation stirred up some bugs and cleaned out the river bed some.
  9. I haven't been in awhile but do know flow is low and that people have been having luck using hare's ear nymphs. March Brown time.
  10. I literally have got behind and grabbed the rod hand of people I'm trying to help cast and made a cast. I then ask them, could they tell a difference? They all said yes. I'm no jedi master at casting but just doing this little thing helped most of the newbies I fished with get to fishing on their own quicker.
  11. Warm day probably helped keep her on the water I bet. Cold has a way of making you want to quit, especially if it is a slow day. I've got a couple of "new" ties I need to try out if I ever get back.
  12. That's great having your spouse as your fishing partner. My son in law got interested in it which in turn got my daughter interested in it. My wife has never wanted to try it. So was the hair and copper the ticket? I haven't fished this year yet and my last visit was the last sunday of 2012.
  13. I've only been a couple times in the last six weeks. With the lake turning over and dissolved oxygen up, the non generation flow is really low. I liked the flows we had back in early fall but the D.O. levels were lower back then. Midges are what has worked with location being key. A lot of other people I know are saying Black zebra midge, hares ear, and wooly buggers are taking fish. Some places are better than others but you won't know until you try them. The two times I did go, we didn't see any fish being taken. Fishing was tough with only a few being taken in our limited time fishing. I believe the weather conditions played a part in the tough conditions as there was really high pressure those days, well over 30.
  14. It's a good walk, go south around the bend and keep walking a few hundred yards more. You will see the cable going across the river. Then walk some more and fish.
  15. That's a great day of fishing. I'm guessing you didn't try a dry mayfly with pheasant tail dropper? For me, catching them on top is the most exciting experience there is fly fishing, even if its a small fish.
  16. I'm lacking practice as well, monday will be 4 weeks since I fished LIR. Misses are better than no action. Was there a lot of people today? There was a scheduled river clean up today. Others have said black midges were the ticket. Were you using size 16 or 18?
  17. I don't like the release schedule that they've been using lately. I'm going to have to tie some of those hair n coppers and try them out.
  18. They generated a little early in the morning so the bite was off till around 10. I fished till 3 and mainly caught them on the red krystal flash midge. I used the "no bead gamechanger midge" later in the day as a trailer and caught a few on it and lost several. It was a good day but not as good as the last few times.
  19. Still off colored today.
  20. It was on monday as I was there. I'm going this morning and will report back the water conditions. Maybe the lake is turning over?????????? I can't think of a reason why it would look like that other than turning over.
  21. That's why I quit using my 3 wt, it's my WV small stream rod.
  22. Tulsaflyfisher.org has several links under the area water & link button. It still is a guessing game though, they called for generation starting at 9 today and it hasn't happened. They bumped up the flow like they have been doing lately though.
  23. They didn't follow it yesterday. Called for 1 generator but all they did was bump up the flow. I watch the numbers a lot. I'm going tomorrow and I will get there at daylight. If they do follow the schedule, I got a few hours of fishing in. They are calling for generation. I'm hoping for a bump up of the flow only, fishing is better when they bump up the flow. It is a guessing game with the current water levels.
  24. I've went fishing the last two mondays with success. Numbers are not like colder weather but still good for warmer weather. Fishing is definitely better when there is water flowing. Flies I used to get fish were the famous DGames midge, Stans miracle midge, Lt. Cahill midge with copper bead and ribbing, BH Prince nymph, Pink SJ Worm, white micro jig and my micro jig. All midges were used as a trailer behind the micro jig. Did't get any big fish but several nice pulling fish in the 14-15" range.
