Posted 56 minutes ago ยท Report post I was fishing back in Spring Branch this morning, just got started and had caught one keeper smally when all of a sudden this guy about 35, all in black with the Ranger clothes, and in a big Ranger boat with a 250 on it, came roaring by and pulled in right in front of me, not more than 50 to 75 feet, right on the bank where I was fishing. Pulled out his rods and started into fish, I think he had spotted a big fish there before and was trying to catch her, he was doing some flipping, but never did see him catch the fish. Had a few words with him that were not pleasant, told him it was a really big lake and that surely he could find another place to fish rather that within 50 feet of me. I think he was a pro because of the way he was dressed and the big black Ranger boat with twin poles on the back, I don't know if there is a practice session going on down there and a tournament tomorrow or not, don't keep up with that stuff. Just wanted to let everyone know how this guy acted, I sure hope he had no luck at all. If that is how all the pros fish, may they have motor trouble all the time.

If you are going to talk about a new location, maybe you should put in where! I have no idea where, so where is it?

Does anyone know if you can launch at Indian Point Marina? hoping to go down on Wednesday when it cools down.

Does anyone know if you can launch your boat at Indian Point yet? thinking about going down there on Wednesday when it cools down.

I went down to Indian Point to camp and fish for a few nights, but that just didn't work out very well. The Indian Point Marina will not let you luanch your boat there. The launch area is closed by the Corp and they will not let you lauch your boat. Talked to the Marina guy and asked if they let campers launch and he told me that no one could launch, so I left and came home. Cancelled my three remaining nights down there and came home. I know I could have gone to Moonshine Beach, and I did go to Aunts Creek for the afternoon, water really didn't look good in color, a brownish color to it. Did have one nice bass on in one of the cuts but it got off just before I was to lift it into the boat Had one other keeper follow the jig right up to the boat, but he never hit the bait at all.

We need more responses such as this on this forum! You really hit the nail on the head with that statement. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the info, guys! I have some spoons and will try them this week while down there, maybe get into them like Bill did. Thanks again for the info.

Bill, would you explain the "Dixie Jet" , checked Bass Pro, and they don't have anything with that name listed, what is it? I am spending a week at Indian Point campround, starting Sunday, and would like to catch a few. Thanks for the info.

I made it down to Piney fairly early for me this morning, I was fishing by about 7 a.m. and didn't get a bite until about 9 or so. The water has a lot of color in it, visibility only about a foot or so at the most. My day was not good at all, only caught two shorts and that was it, left around noon for cooler places.

Thanks for the info, I will be down there fairly early in the morning giving it a try. Hope it works out for a good day.

Anyone got a report on the water conditions and how the fish are biting at Cape Fair and Piney Creek? Planning on a trip down there tomorrow and would like some info on that area, if it is available. Thanks for the help.

I really don't like the advertisments in the middle of the topics, like the one at the Stockton area reports. They should be elsewhere. I know this has to be paid for and this is a way to do it, but not right at the beginning of the topic. Just my opinion.

Fished Indian Point area yesterday from about 9 till 2. Caught only one nice 16 inch Smallie, really the only bite I got and that wasn't much of a bite at all, just felt the bait get a little heavy and there he was. Really didn't fight as much as I would have expected, but still a nice fish. Water was really clear down there and the temp was 48.3 where I caught him. On a secondary point up in Indian in about 15 feet of water.

I have seeen several references to a "pigsticker jig" but don't have an idea what this is, can you enlighten me, Bill? I fish down around Indian Point a lot but don't seem to have the luck you are having/ I guess I need some help as well. -
I know a lot of people use the "fin" and I know it is the redfin, But what is the color, could someone put a picture of this lure on here. I am not familiar with it and would like to know what it is and the best colors. Thanks for the info.

Anyone got an idea about the chemical or additive to use to clean old gas from the carbs of a 5 HP Johnson outboard? This one has been setting up for two or three years and I know the old gas was not run out of the carb or expect that anyway. I haven't even checked the tank yet to see what shape it is in but it still has old gas in it. Probably just replacing the tank and hose would be the best thing to do here, but still have the engine to clean out. So any ideas would be appreciated. LaneT

Just wanted to let everyone know about the problems I was having with the motor. As I told you, I took it up to Son Sac Marine up near Ruark Bluff and he, Bill, fixed the problems for me. As I said it was smoking severly on startup and at idle, I thought it was the VRO oil pump, but he checked that out, not the problem. The motor had somehow got out of synch, so he adjusted the synch back to where it should be, readjusted the carbs as I had to enrich them to get it to run, put a new water pump on and just checked the enginer over real well. On the way home, I stopped at the lake, put it in the water and cranked it, no blue smoke, the motor ran well, idled as it should, so I am well pleased with the work he did and the price he charged which was not out of line at all. Sure beat just out right buying a new VRO pump when that was not the problem. Just wanted to let everyone know that Bill, the mechanic up there and owner of the place, knows what he is doing, he might take a little long, but he does it well.
