  1. That thing is SWEET. I like that it looks like it may actually be castable on a 6 wt. I need to go get some laser dub colors and try some out. I think a black and green would just be dirty at night.
  2. Dylan, Your In!
  3. either or, both would be shiny and have th esame effect.
  4. I hope so! Tell your friends everyone!
  5. Her voice is the greatest! That was awesome! "IT'S A SHARK! IT'S A SHARK! IT'S A BIGASS SHARK!!" Hahahahahaha
  6. It's been slow this year for me to, last year, even after the flood we did pretty well, I've had a good night or two but have been catching less fish. This is fishing further down to, I've been having to cover a lot more water to be finding some fish.
  7. If they just hit the tail you wont hook them. period. But i typically strip set with a lift of the wrist when fishing streamers.
  8. Fishing was pretty slow. Caught 8 fish in about two hours of fishing. 6 Rainbows and my first ever two browns. There just doesn't seem to be a large concentration of fish up top there below the dam. This year has been slow and I haven't been seeing a lot of fish even below the outlets, but alot of the fish that I have caught this year have been slightly larger. Most fish took small leeches, one took a white rabbit leech, and I caught a fish on a Meal Ticket, and another good 18-20 Male rainbow on a white circus peanut. All the females I caught last night were SUPER fat, and about half the males I caught got a bit too happy that I had caught them if you catch my drift. never seen it this time of year. Good Luck to everyone out there. There seem to be a good number of stocker - 15 inch browns up there.
  9. YAAAAAAY! Brian I'll put it down in ink... err type. Edit: Last night the white circus peanut caught a good male rainbow on taney. It's fishing well.
  10. I'll be tying this fly in white instead of yellow for me.
  11. That's a great looking fly!
  12. I'll go ahead and throw him on the list Brian. I really do enjoy swaps and like to see the variety you can get from them. I finished up two in the last month for another site and have gotten some seriously awesome flies out of the deal.
  13. This is starting to shape up to be a pretty good swap, a few more people and this will be awesome!
  14. this. was. epic!
  15. Mike, Good to have you join. Hopefully as more people join this, even more will join. For now plan on tying the same number of flies as people who are signed up for this. That way each person will get one of each of everyone elses flies.
  16. I gotta second what Brian said. High sticking has been the only way for me to consistently catch fish on a nymph. I would MUCH rather fish a small soft hackle, and not have to have a perfect presentation so that it would be ok if it swings a little bit. I've just never mastered nymphing because time and time again I go back to streamers. Some of my best fish "nymphing" though have come on small streamers that I drifted instead of swung or stripped.
  17. Fairly new tier or not it's a GREAT way to perfect a pattern. Let's face it after you've tied 15 of any given pattern they are going to look pretty good. They are also a lot of fun to see how different people tie different flies, and it's a great way to add some variety to your boxes.
  18. Agreed, I think we could put it a bit later than the 25th, if only because two flies a day would get them done in plenty of time if they started on August first, which is kind of what I was thinking. Spread the word.
  19. OK, we'll call it on. I can host and have no qualms with it. 16 tiers max and Like Brian said lets call it an August 15th date. When you have your flies done PM me and I'll send you my address. You can either include a few dollars for an extra envelope and postage or go ahead and fold up a self addressed envelope in your package. Please toe-tag all of your flies with your user name so that we know what comes from who. I don't have a suitable camera so if someone would be willing to take a pic of all of the flies when they get them it would be greatly appreciated. Some food for thought. Even if these flies are big and bulky that doesn't mean they will take a long time to tie. Tie them in steps.. i.e. do all of the backs and then all of the fronts and it tends to go pretty fast. I'll want this to go smooth for everyone, which means no late flies please. When you say that you will tie, start them, don't push them back to the last moment because that makes it less enjoyable for everyone else and I will do my VERY best to get the flies out ASAP. To keep from flies being in too late i'd be game for setting a "you can't join this swap after "this" date" so that we don't have someone joining last second and then everyone having to wait longer for their flies. I know there are a lot of talented ties on this board and let's see some of that work. It should be fun and for those who have never participated in a swap feel free to join in and it's a great way to add a wide variety to flies to your boxes. 1. Lancer09 - Done 2. Brian Shaffer 3. 20. OH come on guys, lets do this. It will be ever so fun.
  21. I on the other hand do not prefer to palmer the schlappen along the shank. I like to do it just at the front like that but if you do this it needs to be a big webby one to flow back. Also, I would find a body material, that takes up a bit more space, I really like UV dyed polar chenillie or some sort of cactus chenille.
  22. I'd jump in on this, when you thinking they be due? I'll probably go with something articulated EDIT: sorry, just saw the date, I was driving earlier when I posted that. I missed the brown run for the most part last year and definitely want to hit it a lot harder this year. I've hit taney a lot and have YET to catch a brown. starting to get a bit infuriating. I'm leaning towards a circus peanut, in white probably. I caught a couple good rainbows a few weeks ago at night. I've been in quite a few swaps on another forum so I know how the gig works. Sorry just saw this too, I'll also head up the swap if no one else wants to to make this thing happen but would prefer not to.. but will if absolutely necessary, and i think twelve tiers would probably be more suitable because these will be big flies, but I have no problem with more.
  23. Fish it in the day before you do at dark. Any small streamers really will work. Woolybuggers, leeches etc. I like to swing 'em. Some like to strip 'em. I've also caught a lot of fish Highsticking the outlets. Make sure you have a headlamp, and be ready for some smashing hits.
  24. Yes, if you hear that siren go off, or notice the water level go up, HAUL it on out of there. When they start pushing water through it gets real dangerous real fast. If they forget the horn and teh water is going off, and you'd have to cross deep water to get the parking lot, just get to the other side and wait it out. I know it sucks but it's a lot safer. Check the thread down in the white river section for tips and staying safe with the generation. Scuds and midges are the ticket if you'll be fishing during the day time.
  25. I think getting rid of the 18" keep limit should be done away with, but then again I don't think that many people who keep those, probably wouldn't keep smaller fish any way, and are probably bait fishing as well. If there could be more enforcement regarding that, plus some good higher water for a while I think the creek would support some AMAZING fishing. I know me and Andrew 324 fished awhile ago and didn't hardly see any fish in the lower section whatsoever.
