Double San Diego cinch knot. Drop of glue just before you cinch it in.
-
Well, keep on NOT fishing it, and we'll continue to take your donations at the weigh-ins.... I don't like fishing in walleye tourneys......so I DON"T.
-
Cull, how 'bout if only ONE hook was use in the rig.... 4 dummies/spinners. Would that fit your criterias of sporting/conserving?
-
I like Rick Clunn's take on the A-rig on his facebook page..... When people start catching fish from toilets, its time to get worried about the A-rig....
-
I've actually thought about the prospects of have a rig tied on bed fishing....one live bream, one live crawdad, one mud puppy..... now that would be pushing the limits. The being able to fish everyday, was nice for awhile, then it just got to be too much of a job, and not much fun anymore. I like the compitition of the derby, I guess I'm getting too old to make it my life again. All the travel, fast food, hotels, when you were doing well, or camping in the truck when you weren't. Its for the true dedicated ones for sure.

I can definatley agree to disagree....its nice to have a civil debate. I love this sport as well, no aspirations to move up to next level, like my current job too much. I just like to catchem.

Cull, I'm sure the guy in Alabama was sitting around trying to figure out how to get around a rule in a tournament circuit he doesnt even fish...If you'll do a little reseach on the one rod at a time rule it would become very clear to you of its intent. If some states have actually banned the rig like they have banned lead, then one might think it has an effect......but then again I'm not accusing any politician of thinking about much of nothing, except how to put money in his pocket. I just believe some are jumping to conclusions that can't possibly be made at this point about the rig, Its not been out a year and some think its satan himself.

Which two events were won with it in FLA? Chris Lane(Harris Chain) won with a worm/frog....Medley(Big O) won flipping.
-
The plastic worm is the reason for the one rod at a time rule that was set many years ago. Guys would cast out 2-4 rods with a worm and just wait for one to load up. Many old timers believed the invention of the plastic worm would decimate the fisheries because of it ability to catch lots of fish without any skill by the angler.....Sound familiar?? You believe theres no sport using the rig, ok, I dont get it but, ok. Where does conservation fit in? Kreit, none....KVD alot.
-
So.....THROW THE RIG.... fishing ain't rocket surgery. Kriet is one of my favorite guys to watch, but he one of those guys that uses the hydrowave. I don't really care if they use the rig or not, I still don't belive its as deadly as the plastic worm was when it came out, but BASS seems to be picking and choosing who/what they ban. Do they really think Strike King will go under because KVD aint winning with a lucky craft oh I mean a SK crank? Lure companies aren't dumb either, they will all be manufactoring their own form of the rig and its accessories. For goodness sakes they are letting a guy fish the Elites that tried to buy fish from his Co-angler. Ban the GPS chips, side imaging, flasher units only, color-c-lector, anything technology.... Heck go fish with a stick and thread... I'm still confused on how the rig has any affects on conservation and sportsmanship. If its legal to use.
-
I believe KVD is good, maybe the best ever, BUT no way is he that much better/lucky to be fishing the same water as several others in last years classic. If you dont believe those Biosonic things work, you've lost your mind. Its one thing to have those graphs/hydrowave units on your boat, its totally another to know how to use them.....same with the A-rig. Its not as simple as "throw it and they will come."
-
No one disputes the odds go up.... But doesnt the high tech side/down imaging, Hydrowave increase the odds? Why arent these banned? Thats the question I want to know. It seems they've select whats fair/sporting by where the money comes from. And if thats the case say so and I could live with that. I'm not so good at catching that I wouldnt try to do most anything, with the law, to increase my odds of catching fish.
-
The only reason I can come up with is that they have the money and time...If they hit the trail, less money and no time. For some strange reason there are a few people out there that dont want to make the sacrifice of leaving their wife and kids at home, lack of desire so to speak. IMO the best weekend guys are better than the Elites.
-
Why am I not allowed? Its my understanding that some one with the money, time, skill, desire....can fish the Elites. I have a couple friends that only lack the desire, they have plenty of the rest.
-
I question the sportsmanship in using the side imaging, hydrowave, bed fishing.... BUT if I could afford those things I would probably use them too. Sportsmanship is in the eye of the beholder. I've used the rig ALOT the last couple months, had same number of great days as zero days. Have only caught one double, and partner doubled once. Never used the DD22, until two years ago, and have caught MANY doubles since. There is possibility of catching multiple fish with any lure with more than one hook. So I guess we should just use single hooks on any thing we throw to be "sportsmen"

Read one comment from a "pro" that said, fish cant help but bite the rig.... That realy fired me up to know that I caught every fish that saw my rig over Christmas. I mean I only covered miles of water with the thing. This rig will soon just be another tool, if you know any old timers get them to tell you about the plastic worm when it first came on the scene... Can any of you imagine the thought of banning the plastic worm, or even outlawing it? That was the talk WAY back in the day. People seem to jump to conclusions before any real research is done. What about the Biosonc/Hydrowave units? I would bet if KVD was the one winning with the A-rig, it would not have been banned! To me the Elites are becoming too elite for their own good, and maybe ours as well.
-
Just heard BASS ban the A-rig... thoughts?

Being from central/southern AR... stripers have always been in the waters I fished. Those lakes down there havent seemed to suffer because of them. IMO theres not a lake up here that compares to Ouachita, for quality and quantity.

Hard to beat a Fluke for me. Baitfish, Albino shad, Smokey shad, Arkansas shad seem to work well. Have also C-rigged watermelon chartreuse tail, might work on jighead too... I just hate using Sissy Spinning Sticks tho. Probably why I get my tail kicked so often up here too.
-
I tried not to buy one too, seemed like everywhere I looked on Table Rock and Beaver last week every boat I saw had at least one guy throwing it. Finally bought one.... Great decision on my part. Had best day in two years on the Rock throwing that stupid looking thing. Now I gotta start working out just so I can throw it more than 10 times without having to sit down and rest!

Yeah they didn't have many but had what I was looking for. I used on A- rig but also use on a scrounger

Thanks found a few in Rogers this morning.
-
Looking for in store. Can't get them here from Cali fast enough

Does anyone know who carries this brand? Looking for the swimming impact. Thanks for any help.

Please clarify the 3 hooks rule. One could interpret that as not being able to use a pointer jerk bait with 9 hooks? Really needs to be defined better.
