  1. Very nice find!...checked 3 trees last week..nada...need to look again....Big Oaks...Dead Oaks...you never know...Red, White, Shingle, etc...spots were folks nick trees with there zero turn lawnmowers.
  2. You'd be surprised at what holds in featureless looking water some times. If its got depth & the right current speed..toss a lure in there. Big fish can be in a foot of water on inside bends and inside bend eddies sometimes Sometimes they are in the middle of the darn river on featureless gravel, inobvious rock ledge, isolated rock, clump of weed or moss. I've floated right over more than I've ever caught.Figure its a live and learn. Day 2 is almost always better than Day 1 on most water. .
  3. A thingamabobber helps alot...best indi that I've tried...those cork ones arent nearly as sensitive.

    Good for you Andy!
  5. Depends on what stretch your floating...If starting at Greer..you have 5 miles of special regulation trout water to contend with. No bait, no plastic lures. 1>18" limit on the trout...and its all under special bass regs..Marabou jigs, inlines, kastmaster spoons, small rapalas and the much hated rebel wee craw should be a good starting point. Anything goes after you pass Turner Mill. After turner...same lures will work...but you can break out the powerbait, live bait, and plastic lures if you choose to. Sounds like a fun trip. Brian Sloss at Eleven Point canoe rental can help you out.
  6. My backyard and lots of parks are overun with honeysuckle....plus I see lots of bradford pears where the shouldnt be around town.
  7. Its only a 3/4 mile walk between Tan Vat & Baptist..5 miles one way between Baptist & Parker...take two vehicles and exchange keys midway if you want to do the Baptist to Parker walk & wade.
  8. It depends on water clarity...up and milky...big baits....Clear & early in the year usually means down on the bottom on the Jack's...think jig, tube, curly tail....maybe a soft jerkbait...on top is worth a shot too..
  9. Dunno..there are lots of little flouresant tags and trail markers in the stretch of woods.
  10. Had a big bunch of moles in the yard till I switched to scissor jaw traps...got 13 of the little buggers last year....4 this year....but tunnels were down considerably...hoping for zero next year.
  11. Good for you! Bass busting a buzzer is awesome fun!
  12. I've called a few nature centers...no luck...Its not listed in the MDC's online store either.
  13. Google "Rude Pursuits and Rugged Peaks, Schoolcraft's Ozark Journal 1818-1819" University of Arkansas Press.
  14. Glad your getting in some well deserved fishing after your season! Need to clear 4-5 days for a trip in the next month or three.
  15. The lack of funding for dam removal projects is the part I dont agree with as well.
  16. Good advice Joe...that water between Parker and Cedargrove holds no trout that are worth the drive ;>)! No fast food joint, and I cant text while I drive down there.
  17. Used to turn over rocks, collect bugs, and try to match them.......but I dont have much time to tie these days... My indi rigs have gotten pretty simple. I usually start with an egg pattern and something else tied on below it...Mohair Leach, Wooly Bugger, Rubber Leg Bead Head Fox Squirrel, Prince Nymph, Pat's Rubberlegs Stone..Will poke around in the scud or a zebra midge box if they seem picky. I pay more attention to my presentation, the amount of shot on my leader, and indicator depth adjustments than I do to fly selection. There are no magic flies... good drifts catch fish. Have fun.
  18. My buddy Norm did a write up when we helped out 6-7 years ago. His report is spot on. http://www.streamsid...r-shocking.html
  19. It looks pink to me from above;>)!...Dont know how the fish see it..I've asked several, but they arent tellin.
  20. Its not bubblegum...its pink...great in clear water for some reason.
  21. Nice fish! Sorry that some scumbag took your friends boat.
  22. Topwater might be over by then...so I'd probably start with crankbait, suspending jerkbait, or a jig in natural colors. Mabye a fluke or a spinnerbait if leaves are an issue.
  23. Olives & Browns mostly.

Definetly jealous...hope you have a great trip!
  25. The gravel pits do do some harm..Water seeps in and out of those gravel pits and they warm the water considerably in the summer time...Cows in the creek are never good...Several landowners on the Little Piney are bad in that regard. Its pretty easy to find fish...look for good habitat...usually found on forest service land, or where the cows, or a bulldozer cant access the creek.
