  1. The cool thing about working weekends is that i get to fish when there are less people on the lake. My friend Tom called and said the fish looked fairly small. The bigger fish actually over ran my eighteen inch MDC measure sticker. Tom said I needed to let you folks know that I am close to eight feet tall and about 4 or 5 hundred pounds with very broad shoulders. That way the size of the fish would get the respect it wants.
  2. We started fishing at about 7:30 AM. My partner insists on going for coffee in the morning. We put in at Aunt's Creek and started in the trees and bushes with a spinner bait after reading other people's reports I saw some smaller fish chasing, but never could get them to bite. I switched to old reliable (Eakins Jewel jig) and caught one a bit over eighteen inches right away. It was a fun day with seventeen fish caught. I think we had four keepers and the rest were shorts. The majority of the fish were Kentucky's. The earlier we caught the fish the shallower they were. We caught them from 4 feet to 18 feet deep by 2:00 PM.
  3. I already have a sweet Skeeter. Not as good of a set up or as fast as yours, but mine just the same. If I owned a Champion or some other boat I would jump on yours for sure! Just kidding. They all make good boats now days. Seriously, it is a nice boat. I have been out fished by you in it a few times. Good luck with selling it.
  4. Sounds like you have a great dog too. Mine always seems to be laughing at me!
  5. That is the bridge. You can see part of it now. I think there is a piling that stick out farther than the visible bridge. The lake seems to be almost back to normal levels.
  6. I totally agree with the constant current. You could almost tell in years past when the current started up, because the fish did too. You could tell when they closed the gates too, because the fish went to sleep.
  7. I was up by Flat Creek today. Saw a guy lose his lower unit on the old bridge up there. I almost puked when I saw it. A motor is not supposed to look like that! He quit making waves with his big ski boat after that though. My little Skeeter got him back to the ramp. You are not going to believe this, but the fish were hitting top water. I spoke with another guy who said he throws spinner all year around up there. Go past the 173 bridge and past the trees. We didn't fish much as we were at a lake barbecue for the Mrs. work.
  8. I can't believe you are selling your Skeeter. I know you have it set up perfect. Whoever gets it is a lucky dude indeed.
  9. Did I mention I don't think I am fishing Heartland next year? A great group of fisherman though. I won't air my issues with them on a public forum, but there were quite a few issues with them this year. Just for the record.....many of the sponsored Pros have to work very hard and get very little in return sometimes. Most of them still pay their own way into tournaments. They get boat deals and first in line for service, but they certainly don't fish for free. I know it depends on the sponsors.
  10. I fished most of the Heartland Tourneys. I didn't fare real well, but had a blast. I am not sure I am going to fish them next year. I might head to the AIA instead.
  11. Wow! Two big fish. Congrats Thanks for sharing. I am out of town for training and have to live vicariously through these stories until I can get back on the lake.
  12. You are a ways from my home area too. Trees along the shoreline are always good for blue gill
  13. If you say where you are staying or putting in......you might get a few ideas of where exactly to catch these grub tail eating blue gills. As a matter of fact.....I will beg you to go to where they are stealing my grubs. If you go near Aunts Creek or Point 9...let me know!
  14. I actually had the same question, but about Table Rock. I am not sure why, but I have never ever used an anchor. We were vertical spooning one day I thought about how much easier it would be to stay where I wanted to be in the wind with an anchor. Is it bad to have an anchor there too?
  15. Seen quite a few dead shad floating around too. I don't know why, but it has hurt my fishing last couple of years when the dead shad was around.
  16. We went out this AM for about four hours. We caught three on drop shot by Point 9. None of them were worth a photograph. They were where the ledge turns from 18 to about 40 feet. I know it isnt a secret spot, cuz everyone fishes it!
  17. Cool beans. I need that guy. I can hardly fish without him!
  18. Bill keeps Table Rock forum as one of the most active, but I haven't seen him for a while. Are you alright? IF not has someone heard from him?
  19. It seems when I am fishing a spot and a boat goes by....the fish jump or even bite. Sometimes I think it helps ot have a boat go by. We used to fish another lake with a railroad bridge. Whenever a train would go by the fish would wake up and start eating our bait.

    Heartland

Any idea on how the Heartland boys did yesterday? I was supposed to fish today, but originally had to work.
  21. A friend of mine called and said they did real well near Cape Fair. Wouldn't tell me what they were using, but I highly suspect it was the Jewel jigs. Wishin I was fishin!
  22. I like that photo!
  23. Sorry for whining! I have a pretty good life overall, but sometimes it helps to whine. I do have to say....I don't think duck have knees.
  24. I love those little Jewel jigs. You can drag them, hop them or jig them. You can swim them over the top of bushes and trees and then drop them down the side. You can put a five inch double trail grub on a little 5/16 or 7/16 and they sink very slowly. You can use a smaller grub and they sing faster, or go heavier and they sink faster. I think they are one of the most versatile lures on Table Rock. PS I am not sponsored and have never received any free product or pay to say I like the Jewel stuff.
  25. We went out this morning and were boiled off the lake about 12:45. We did not do the greatest today. We each caught one Kentucky. It was a nice morning with the clouds, but very little breeze at all. We were fishing the point across from Point 9 and three guys in a Nitro came over and started fishing the same point. They didn't say hello, or hey, mind if we fish the same point or anything. One guy was telling the other two how great it is to fish on a bobber at times and they would have three fish on at a time. I didn't see them catch a fish as they trolled away after a while. Looked like they were throwing spoons. I sort of expect jetskis and tubers to get a bit close. I expect they often don't put themselves in others shoes and don't realize how inconsiderate they appear. I fully expect other fishermen to have some sort of ethics or morals. Was a disappointing day, except I was able to spend it on the lake with my Mrs.
