I like that bluff I only recently started bass fishing again. Some guys on this forum stirred me up and I've gotten back to my roots on the meramec. Those are awesome fish to me any day of the week !! The other day I thought I was gonna be humbled then I stumbled on a mess of fish and the big ones have to eat the Mitch craw so I got lucky again. Not to steal your thunder but here's one of mine from today.

I would t go with that tony. Go 16' it'll draft less water and be more stable if u drift into a fast water log jam. Very important with a 5 year old onboard.

Finally got on the river if only for a hour and a half They are still doing same thing they were doing. In the same places.

I haven't been on the river all week but it looks absolutely beautiful. The walleye spawn is over so I'm itching to chase them and hybrids.

Water looks perfect today at Redhorse. Going up requires some skill about 3 miles up is a treacherous turn full of logs/boulders.

I have caught many many giant smallies on this setup. I don't trim my knot on it so it provides more drag inside the body to avoid pants down. I skip it along on top like a minnow swimming for its life. Nearly 100% hook up rate. I could care less about weedless compared to catching fish. It's a buzzbait to me. Try it. You'll like it. I forgot to add that the farther back u get the hook the more of a walk the dog pattern you get. This has been one of my favorite long cast on the flats and riffles lures. It'll live through many many bites also. Especially the new style Mitch will be hopefully perfecting soon.

Apparently A few guys have steered me back to my roots. Don't get me wrong I love walleye fishing on the river. It's the ultimate challenge. My 28" walleye on the meramec is the ultimate fish ! To me it makes 20" smallies seem stupid but I guess I'm a follower I'm jumping back on the Smallie bandwagon for now. There is a lot more to today's story. I let a 20" go without a picture today cause it was bleeding profusely. Just had to cut it off with a Mitch craw in it's gullet deep It sucked but oh well. I have to believe it lived and it wasn't worth a picture to me.

Heres my prediction, based off of past experience When this river drops about another foot and gains some clarity, it's at 50 degrees today by the way, so anyway, this week I will annihilate some giant bass. I thought it was over but the rise and temperature drop has delayed my previous prediction. If you can fish this week I would suggest go. I can't speak for all rivers but the meramec in Franklin county is gonna produce some pigs this week. I promised a trip to you and this is your week brother. Put some 14 lb test on your pole.

It really wasn't fish able in my opinion but my best friend and longtime river fishing buddy said lets go So I went for a morning run. Very tough weird bite.

I don't know how I caught anything today. But I did.
