Most people wouldn't be able to comprehend the crazy hour of fishing I just experienced. I think I will go tomorrow. I seen with my own eyes a bonifide giant yesterday come out of a log while fishing with Smallie bigs. Surely after two days of peace and quite he is ready to bite. I'm sure it moved up to the fast water 200 yards above where I seen it. 57 degree water this evening. Smoke em if you got em. I rest now.

I could send gps coordinates to all my spots right now and it wouldn't matter. These fish are running like salmon up the river. In schools no less. I'm used to seeing white bass do this but not smallies and largemouth. One good clue- deep and very fast water. This is a short bite But violent. I had a lot of fun yesterday Scott Could the meramec be as good as I've seen it in years? Yes. Without a doubt. Some would say the lack of gigging this year is the reason ??? Mitch, I've been fishing the big and meramec for 33 years, besides using live craws, the combination of your jig head and your craw is by far the best thing that has come along for me. Yesterday a guy was working on his boat ramp by me and I could literally feel a fish pick up my craw and I had time to tell him to watch this Then I would lay into the fish and every time I reeled in a nice Smallie. It happened 6 times in a row. Once they find it, it's all over but the battle. I'm a bit of an egotistical guy but I have to say when I use the craw I know I'm gonna catch big fish. Big to me is over 16".

It's fixing to all be shut down this rain will hose it up. It sucks cause I seen a giant Smallie chase a spot I had on my line and even after waiting an hour to try for him he wouldn't bite. I wanted to go back tomorrow. I've caught a pile of 17"s in last two weeks. Where the crap is my 20.

I'm almost out of craws and I'm freakin. I think Mitch has a plan To make them very available soon. I won't feel comfy unless I am sitting on a hundred. Even though I fished for 2 hours today with one!

All I can say is the river is on fire !!! Catch em while you can. 53 degree water.

I asked a guy to go fishing yesterday and he said we couldn't because bass season was closed. ? I says okey dokey.

I took a short trip out from my ramp upriver fishing was off the charts Mitch craw was the super star. Caught 9 fish off one craw. I prolly would've caught more but lost it. Grabbed my jerkbait rod and caught few largemouths.

The river looks perfect. Water temps upper 40's to 51 Clear and up a foot.

I ran from Redhorse to below caverns. I didn't see but 2 boats. They weren't gonna catch any fish though. Where'd you put in ?

I got out for a 2 hour tour yesterday evening. Couple 17's and at least 5 keepers in the 14 to 15" range. All in one spot Never moved the boat more than 20'

Water is perfect color and up less than a foot. With the increased flow and temp drop all the fish should be very easy to find. I'll let you know in a few

A lot of people have no idea what they are. I showed that spot to a guy I know on the river yesterday and he almost freaked on me first off he thought bass season was closed. Then he had no idea what a spot was!!! He was fishing with a rooster tail so that kinda says it all. I think I knew what a spot was when I was 10 years old. I catch more mean mouths below rate 66 than anywhere

It's just fun showing you guys what I see Believe me when I say I saw a spotted bass hit minnows off the topwater today !!! Nuts in February!!! 55 degree water. Crank bait time. My favorite way to fish Don't get me wrong. Mitch craw is my new go to for Giants Sorry Mitch but I don't think I could go out without the craw its in limited supply so all the rest of you poor saps are bumming but I'm cherishing every last one I have and no more sharing The river by me just got blew out by torrential rains so it's done prolly for few days so don't fight with your wives tomorrow to hit the river around here

A 16 and 2 17" spots in last 3 days. I love those things.
