  1. If possible, more info needed How about a nice thread on the smallmouth spawn. Cause to me it's a strange uneventful hard time to fish. Maybe cause I spend more time fishing the middle of the river and the current seams?
  2. Just got served another slice. One goggle eye. My 2 comrades caught 13 keepers. All on jerk baits! What the %+*!?$&?! Did I say yet I hate the spawn. By the way, it's the spawn.
  3. This river is on fire. What a good time
  4. Nice rp. And fish.
  5. I haven't enjoyed a soft plastic bait this much in 30 years. It makes me really really happy. And I smile a lot
  6. Blame it on Mitch , Scott and Paul. I could of gave two craps about smallies till I met them on this forum that I actually was googling to lurk for some walleye info. These guys were so passionate about smallies and I had long since burned out on the fish. Even though I respected them for a true ozark gem I'm actually in my head thinking over the last 30 years of every giant that followed me to the boat over the last 30 years and I'm gonna go there with a craw. Oh yeah, the craw. The craw honestly has been nothing like I've ever seen. Sure over the years I've seen Giants on live bait and even trot lines for crying out loud. But this craw is to me completely over the top lets go fishing Al
  7. They are all up and down this river man. We were sitting at a very random sand bar where I normally wouldn't fish but I knew there was a submerged log out there so I started picking at it with a crank and caught several but then I had that tell tell wave action and a bump so I gave him the craw. I honestly think there is the biggest smallmouth on the entire river from 30 bridge to times beach. But I'm always walleye and hybrid fishing when I go down river if I catch another walleye on a craw it might be all I need
  8. I can't post pics for some reason. Anyway it was really big. 5 lb 1 oz. almost 21"
  9. Goofing around today with the family on the river and caught several really solid fish in the 14" to 15" range. Then this! I should goof around more I guess. Oh yeah. The Mitch craw!!!!
  10. Meramec was 63 degrees yesterday evening. Some smallies were definitely in the right places for bedded fish I'm just not sure what's going on
  11. This was the best pRt of my day
  12. Why the crap are my pictures sideways ?
  13. After catching several nice bass including 2 16" smallies I was happy to set the hook on my first craw walleye. New trend ?
  14. The big one I lost is haunting me. I know it was giant. One of the few fish I have lost on Mitch's jig head. I jumped the gun instead of giving him the 2 second pause. Probably face hooked him or something.
  15. Went out for a little jaunt with some guys who know how to fish. River up 4 to 5 feet. Need I say anymore. Caught a few lost a big one.
  16. Spot on Al. I guess there's a fine line between wanting to gain attention to the fishery I hope to better and over exploiting. I would hope everyone realizes that I give a lot of half truths on my reports. The entire length of the river is good and I'm never gonna say where I caught said fish.
  17. That bluff hole in the picture is a nothing special spot. Many many spots like it every mile or so. Who cares. Excellent post. Awesome fish. Good for you. And anyone that wants to waste a lot of time and money, go try to catch wipers on the meramec. It's a needle in a haystack fish. Chances of a 9 lb walleye are way better.
  18. I very rarely see anyone on the river anymore. Especially on the lower reaches which by the way for the most part suck I joined this forum to learn about what others are doing and where. Maybe I joined for the wrong reason?
  19. I have caught many of these wipers from the Mississippi to meramec caverns.
