Water temp came up 4 degrees since yesterday it's a weird dirty green color.

46 degrees today and up a foot. Wait til Wednesday then it'll be crankbait crazy time.

She's up a foot but still clear. I think I'm gonna do a afternoon run.

Sitting on my deck looking at the river. She's cold. A lot of ice. What a bummer.

The bourbeuse River was chocolate milk for some reason. It mucked up everything from Moselle down. Caught one big white bass below gravois bridge at the top of the George winter hole

Lures are tied on I'm going to valley park tomorrow to try some tactics that I'm not fond of and some I'm good at. I should be on water by 11. Will post results in detail. Good or bad.

I only know the river walleye in my area usually only bite a bait coming with the current very rarely do I catch one pulling it up the river. Crankbaits work for me

Wow! That's amazing Al. I can only say that I have little luck in the winter. I have figured out where the fish go as soon as they spawn out. It's a crazy bite too. There's know way I would post every detail though. The thought of a half dozen boats on a good hole makes me shudder. It makes me rethink what I've told guys. I can say the locals where I live know nothing of the walleye fishery we have. Gigging is really the only way they can get em consistently

Good info! I can't believe I have a work trailer behind me instead of my River pro. Maybe I shag out early. Al, your post makes me want to head south. I spent 2 days in doniphan last spring but I purposefully left my poles behind so I wouldn't abandon my wife and kids.

I agree. It's a small fishery. There is some serious fish in that stretch but I've found that if you find that little spot it's chock full of them and some are what I would call Giants I can't post pictures but I've shared some pictures of big walleye and most recently I caught a 9 lb hybrid striper in one of those hot spots. Usually they are with the walleye. Hint hint. It's just not a smart thing to tell all. Smallie bigs gave me some approximents and I lucked into his honey hole . On the middle meramec where I live it's a matter of the biggest deepest holes with a gravel dump off riffle. I spend most of my fishing time chasing walleye on the rivers. I don't think it's nearly as complicated as people think. There's just not a lot of em. Think hard about every detail of when where and how you caught it. If u catch one that is.

very few of us can say we haven't accidently stabbed a gamefish while gigging. Especially when your chasing a school and there's excitement Now put a newby up there and it just happens. I agree with mosmallie and I think our rivers could be destination fisheries for people to come from across the country but they are not blame it on a lot of things I guess

I hit the river today surprisingly I seen more than dead smallies. I seen a lot of dead suckers in less than 5 ft of water. Not sure why they wouldn't do recovery. I've gigged hundreds of times and almost always u can make several passes and pick those winged ones up easily. I fished 4 holes and seen at least 2 dead fish in each hole.

One problem all-star, the big jet boats aren't getting too far on these small rivers at night. 50 horse and smaller on a 16' boat. Remember it's dark. Your not gonna take off on full plane to navigate through bad spots. I'm not pointing fingers but...... Okay so I am. Most of these poachers are low budget guys with smaller rigs I've gigged a lot. Big jets are limited Nonetheless in my opinion, gigging should be outlawed. That's gonna make some hate me but oh well I guess.
