Have you looked at the lews reels? I have them from 5:4 to 7:1. I really like the new 6:8 I got for rivers

Must be some hungry fish to catch a bass on a hotdog

Had a great experience today in the boat, ended up running 32.6 miles and learned a lot about it, not by choice. Tried to put in at route 66 in eureka, but the park didn't open till 7 and it was 6:30 so we ended up going to Allenton and running up to within a mile of Catawissa Conservation Area, 11.4 miles. When we got right before Pacific Palisades that was where I got to test the boat. The river split and we went right instead of Left. The small stream ended up joining back up but I had some maneuvering to do and ended up running in about 3" of water, My butt was puckering, but we made it. It is truley amazing how low of water these boats will run and how they glide across the water. Ended up running back to the Allenton exit, then decided to run down to route 66 to see the water and run back. Tried to fish, but don't really like fishing for smallmouth unless i'm above Chouteau Claim access. Things I learned: I think I would love a recessed trolling motor. I have a 70lb thrust and it can really wipe you around Make sure you put the plug in the two live wells. We could have mabey been a 100lbs or so lighter if I would have put the plug in those. I discovered this when I got out of the water and all the water was draining You don't need to keep the gas hammered once on Plain and can still maneuver around Loading a boat on a trailer in the river is a PAIN! My boat only seemed to do 32 going down river with a 300lb buddy. The evenrude motor says 90, but maybe it is more like a 65. What is typical speed for a boat/motor like this? I love this boat. Best around boat for the guy who likes to fish river and Lakes Love the tips, please provide more...I have a lot to learn

Yeah, already called cow town about that. They said about $200 -$250

Man thanks for all the info. I'm heading out tomorrow. The eureka 66 boat ramp is just down the road. I'm going to run up to pacific in the morning to test her out. I'll let you know if I jack something up, but guess that is why I bought insurance. I'm curious how it is going to go with floating down fishing. If water is low and you can't use trolling motor, do you have to just motor past the fast rapids? If you can't use the trolling motor and it's fast shallow water you would almost have to fire up the motor otherwise you would be in logs and the bank?

Yeah I'm pretty pumped. Can't wait to get her out. Seth, that's a nice rig do you run the meramec much. I'm in eureka and floated pretty much the whole meramec to eureka, but curious how low of water can you really run. I have a vhall as week and Don't want to tear it up on my first outting. Is there sections you will not touch in dead of summer.

Picked up this toy about a week ago. It is an 18/52 legend ss with a 90hp evenrude etec jet. Just got insurance yesterday and trying to get plates tomorrow. With any luck I will have it out on the water this weekend. I'm sure I will be babying this thing till I get to know the river. Even have room for a 4th battery

Jigmaster82 and I ended up hitting riverround for a couple hours this morning. Well, it was tough out today...water was moving quick, viability was abut 1.5ft and murkey...we ened up with 4 total in the 13" range...we tried everything just for those 4 fish...did I saw it was rough today ran into about 4 boats fishing bluffs and a conservation agent...said he put in at Pacific and was headed to redhorse..this is the first time I have ever been asked for license. ...turns out there are only two agents to cover the wholeFranklin county area

I don't understand what the big deal is...one, your going to need a jet....two if you have a jet you most likely can figure out where the best places already are... heck are first time in this section and was able to figure out where I wanted to fish just from looking at a map before I even left the house... we are on this site for knowledge....come on -

Now that is a monster...surely you didn't catch that out of the meramec? My buddy and I will be hitting the meramec this weekend. Thinking riverround or redhorse....I've floated almost all the meramec down to eureka, just not the redhorse area. Grew up fishing Indian Creek but it's hard to float that area. Nice stripper man, (thinking bullshoals) -

The kayak and pond powerless are nice but nothing compared to a jet...waiting for my other buddy moguy1973 to get his new bass boat ready... -
A buddy and I decided to do a little fishing before the storm came in this morning. This is the first time I have every been in a jet boat so I was all over it. We but in at Chouteau Claim Access and decided to fish a few wintering holes. Needless to say, the wind was bad and rain didn't help, but the fishing was good for the conditions. We spent the few hours we had in one wintering hole. We boated 14fish out of this hole and lost a few on the way. My buddy caught the biggest two, one weighing 3lb and the other weighing 2.5lb. Out of the 14 fish 5 were over a 1.5lbs with two small spots. They all had big belly's but I haven't seen a belly like what was on his 2.5lber. He was 15" but it looked like it had just finished eaten a buffet. The 3lb was caught as soon as the rain started to poor. All fish were caught on plastics, tubes at the beginning and end of the deep bluff walls. Not HOG Wally pics, but still a good day for bad weather this morning. Looking forward to hit the water more now that my buddy has a jet boat.

Great two day float Riddle Bridge - Boiling Spring 10/11-10/12
BassMaster#1 replied to moguy1973's topic in Gasconade River
definitely one of my better float in terms of quality fish. As Moguy said, I lost well over 12 fish the first day of the float, but it happens. Just wish there was better access to fish 5miles to really pick apart the river.....I could have easily spent 45 to an hour just fishing Riddle bridge. I've been searching for that 4lb smallie and I'm sure it would come from these section of the river. Heck, it could have been one of those big ones I lost, but that's why they call it fishing and not catching.. Wanted to test the zoom horney toad to see how it compares to the normal dawg jr or megabass x walker jr..and I can saw this will be a neat addition to my top water baits...Can't wait to do this section again, but it's time to put away the rods for the bow...
