  1. Remember to compare reserve capacity
  2. Personally I'd say pro guide group 31's. They're pretty reasonable on price. Around $100-110 I think?
  3. I've yet to have this happen. I hope the heck I never do. That would freak me out.
  4. Weight above the head. I have no idea if it would work but I'd start at a foot above. A guy might as well splitshot rig a cut stick work at that point though.
  5. Yea to add weight but not impede on the action of the lure. Just weight to help it sink.
  6. Shoot did you really think we thought you were the only confused old guy on loz? Lots of mouthing but few answers from you. That's been a pattern.
  7. Have you considered or tried what Bo does sometimes on different baits and use a splitshot above it to help get it down better? You're gonna lose some feel and casting would be awkward. If a guy was bent on using it way on down it might work though. Or not.
  8. For sure. Even if the line feels good you never know how well the knot survived the battle.
  9. I wish everyone would Don't worry about those cables man. Use real quality flourocarbon like Sunline shooter, seaguar tatsu, or also to ray super hard. They have reasonable diameters for there size and hold up to cables very well. Get him to bite first and then worry about the rest.
  10. Why would you say something so completely ignorant and just utterly stupid? What kind of fishing do you think goes on at Grand? I'm a dock fisherman by definition. I used to do it with 10lb line on an Eakins jig and at the great wonderful loz. I know some stuff about docks is what I'm saying. What did I say that made you think I didn't? I typically use 20lb sunline yes on a homemade jig I designed myself, drew up on mastercam myself, and made the mold at work myself. So yea I take dock and willow fishing pretty serious if I'd go through that much trouble. Now if you aren't capable of catching fish around docks with lighter line then you need to learn some things about dock fishing from someone that knows what they're doing.
  11. Exactly and thank you for further driving my point home. Btw are we talking about the same jig or are you spelling it wrong? I'm talking about the Eakins finesse jig made by Jewel. I can't possibly imagine how on earth you derived that from what I said. The Eakins tweaked a jig that had been around for a while and made it to their liking. They developed their system for it thst works. Sorta sounds like the Ned rig right? Lol. Only he didn't name it that. He didn't sell his name to a company either. So if I see this right you do like a bait that technically sold out while bashing one that has become popular by the people that use it. Wow, seems legit. My guess is the butthurt whiners have either tried it and can't get results that others are or they just don't want to try something different and would rather gripe and moan about it. What really cracks me up is before it was the a rig and now at the complete opposite end of the spectrum a tiny worm has a disgruntled few with their panties wadded up and wedged up high. It's borderline comical to see people be upset over a fishing lure lol. Especially the ones that are shall we say more "seasoned" and "wiser" than so many others. And finally not sure what the winning weight reference was about or if it was pertaining to anything. It's not bad I guess but a ways from impressive.
  12. This is an actual legitimate statement and criticism of the bait. No reason a 1/4oz head and a longer cut stick worm wouldn't work with 12-15lb flouro. Especially in the shallower water behind docks. Surely someone makes a shorter hooked shakyhead that would work for this.
  13. Thank you. You said it plainly. So plain it whooshed over many heads here.
  14. Looks like I'm nailed it, as usual. Thanks for your contributions bear.
  15. A couple questions. 1.What on earth are you trying to say? I'm sure it's something though I doubt very constructive. Engrish pree 2. Do you seriously not know what an Eakins jig is or more typical rambling?

Carter even worked on it pretty much all day. He got the first one in the boat too throwing the dt16 in the pic. Then later this fat tagged kentucky. One of mine. As always I'm not easy to look at. Focus on the four pounder.

Not much to report really. I was told to throw a deep crankbait so I did. I've been wanting to learn this for a long time so Saturday was my start. Usually I throw it a few times and then pick up a football jig. Well Saturday I pretty much stayed on the crankbait all day other than pitching a few trees. It was work and we lost a few but what we caught was solid.
  18. For suspended fish I know it would work but if you are looking at them on the graph I'd personally want something that fell faster. Around bridges and docks it should be great.
  19. Every time I read about the butthurt whiners griping about the Ned rig I have to wonder did they get their feelings hurt when the Eakins jig came out? It wasn't a new thing either but there it is with someone name on it and they are actually making money on it to boot. That right there is a difference. A fishing report on a small forum based out of swmo is hardly going to generate a lot of sales other than some locals. Now back to the Eakins jig. Like the Ned it wasn't new. It was a "system" type deal though. Line size and type, jig weight, type of craw. It worked/works too. Actually I used a little jig 75% of the time when I started really getting serious over 10 years ago or so. I make my own jigs now and have a more broadened range of techniques I like. Anyway the "system" part of it was the key. Same with the ned. Slapping a part of a worm on a mushroom head jig isn't new. Using the right weight, type of plastics, and method of fishing it is what has really came out of the Ned thing. That's what I've taken from it anyway. Nobody is claiming an end all lure here. Even the guy selling the heads isn't. He likes to use it and catches lots of fish (pics to prove it btw) and reports here about it. Honestly I haven't put much time on it. If you read my last report I was doing what I like to do and that's have a short length of 20lb line out. The Ned likely would have caught more fish and I knew that the whole time I was there. It simply wasn't what I wanted to do. Not because I'm to proud or think it's a gimmick devised by people who have nothing to gain by it. It's simply a way that has caught on and people are talking about it. No more no less. Also a word of advice. I know I'm not 105 years old so I can't possibly know what I'm talking about but if you don't like having things shoved down your throat, shut your mouth. If you don't like things shoved in your face then just keep your face the heck out of places where that could happen.
  20. I'd like to try carp a few ways to see if I liked it. I love fish and am less picky than some so who knows. I did see a bunch of bow fishing boats on the road today around Carthage and Joplin. I saw this on facebook. This would be an awesome sight fishing boat!
  21. I was going to mention spittoon until I read your last sentence lol
  22. I knew I'd get fewer bites but I'd enjoy the ones I got better if I was flipping wood. Table Rock isn't in it very often so I take advantage of it when I can. I will say I'm disappointed in the lack of leaves on the buck brush. Did the flood a few years ago hurt them? I know Stockton being high so long so often killed the willow trees and it's a dead forrest now. The lack of leaves might explain why the fish were buried deeper. If all goes right all be back down in a few weeks and by then they'll have the bottom sucked out of the lake so I imagine if I want to pitch to anything it'll mean a run into the river.
  23. We do fish tacos sometimes but there's a section on this forum for that type of thing.
  24. Do you see a bass pro sticker on it?
