  1. Gonna be staying at and putting in at Robinson Point campground. This will be my first time fishing Norfork Lake. We will be fishing for anything and everything, mostly bass and crappie; and walleye if the opportunity arises. Any advice on what to use and where to go would be much appreciated. I'm hoping this lake fishes a bit similar to Table Rock?
  2. I've used the Gamakatsu circle hooks in a size 8 with gulp eggs and they work as advertised. Gotta remember not to set the hook and leave the point of the hook exposed.
  3. Does anybody know if this tournament will be televised?
  4. I will be headed to Pomme next Wed. for my first visit. I'll be keeping an eye to this thread for water conditions.
  5. Are these easy to remove or adjust?
  6. Making my first trip to the Spring River this weekend. Gonna fish for trout mostly but I'd like to find some walleye and even some muskie. I was wondering how far down river I'd have to go to find them. Any help would appreciated; river access points, tackle or so forth. I figure some of the same tackle i use for pike would do for the muskies.
  7. It was my pleasure, glad to help. I had my best luck on th P & P midge as well. It's nice when the weather and crowds cooperate.
  8. Drove down early Sat. and had a pretty good day. Was slow until about 10:00 then it kinda turned on. I threw just about everything at them: soft hackles, midges (olive and p&p), elk hair caddis, cracklebacks & there was even what appeared to be a trico hatch about 9:00-10:00 so I tied on a trico spinner, size 28 i believe. I figured I caught at least one on about everything i threw at them except the crackleback. Had a few that broke me off and missed a few takes at my trico. I was lucky enough to take a photo of about a 23"-24" rainbow for a guy that was fishing across stream from me. I was hoping to log in and see a post and pic from him. All in all a pretty good day, great weather, good fishing too, I think i wound up with about 16 total, decent size to most of them too.
  9. I'm leaving work early today and driving the 4+ hours to find out. They call it fishing for a reason. Staying (camping) tonight through Sunday at Cooper Creek. Gonna do a mix of fishing from the Ranger and fly fishing up by the dam.
  10. Thanks guys. I should have known the key was pearl flashabou. I saw a neat pattern in Easter Fly Fisherman Midwest edition that used flashabou for the body of a soft hackle.
  11. Could someone describe or attach a pic of the primrose & pearl midge. I'm not quite sure what color that would be.
  12. I plan on heading down this Wednesday and staying through Sunday. I was curious if it will be safe to boat given the low water situation I've heard about. We normally head upstream from the Cooper Creek boat ramp. Also, I haven't been down since the high water mark this spring; any tips on navigating my way into the catch and release area would be helpful. I know I read a topic from earlier this year regarding the navigation changes from the high water but I can't seem to find it again. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. When casting the pointer, rapalas and other stick baits; i'm sure you go to a heavier line. What size do you recommend 4#, 6# or maybe even 8# for big browns? BTW what color pattern is that pointer shown, i haven't seen that color at the local BPS. Just curious. Thanks.
  14. I thought there would be some here who will find this interesting. Some may have already seen it, I just found it and thought it was pretty cool. It's a live web feed of an active eagle nest. Two chicks and one egg. Pretty cool. http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles
  15. Just tried it from work and it's working again. Unless it was a fluke.
  16. I bought a HDS 5 with Lake Insight mapping in April. I am extremely happy with it so far and can't wait to get the structure scan upgrade. I decided against the Humminbird because I caught wind that Lowrance had a version of the side imaging sonar in the works. I'm glad I went with the Lowrance unit after seeing the website and seeing the videos.
  17. Thanks for the replies. I'm looking to purchase a 9' 5 wt. I'll check these fellas out and see what they can do. Thanks again.
  18. I'm interested in purchasing my first custom fly rod. Does anyone have any recommendations on who or where to go?
  19. I have a trip planned to Cananda next August and I am contemplating purchasing a new fly rod for this trip. I was hoping someone can make a recommendation on what size/wt rod and line I will need to catch Pike and Walleye. Also if anyone has fly fished for these species before, I could use a clue on what types of flies to use as well. I don't know much yet about the water we will be fishing. I am an avid trout fisherman, but have never fished for pike before. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks Brian
  20. Hey fellas, where exactly is Eagle Park? It sounds like a place i might want to visit. I probably have driven past it a hundred times.
  21. I was thinking of purchasing a Canon XTi Digital SLR and was wondering if anyone on the forum has one, or has an opinion about them; or any other SLR for that matter. I was also thinking of purchasing Adobe Photoshop along with the new camera. Any thoughts or ideas about that would be appreciated as well. Thanks Brian
  22. I'm headed down Fri 10th - Sun 12th, and hope someone can offer a fishing report for below fall creek. I will be camping at the City Park and feel safe boating up as far as Fall Creek. Any report will help. Thanks, Brian
  23. Witnessed at least three or four ducks on the water over labor day weekend. I think they are putting in and taking out at the ramp by Scotty's. Man that ramp was packed this weekend. Also a few skiers and tubers down by the Landing. Also witnessed Mo. State Water Patrol on the water this weekend too. (probably a good thing too) What happened to this place, campground is full, boat ramp has no place to park and boats and ducks all over the place. I might need to start camping at Cooper Creek C.G.
  24. I too am considering selling my Ranger and buying something more diverse.(Duck hunting, big Mississppi River blue cats, and of course trout, bass and crappie) I've checked out the Sea Ark and G3. I don't know if I should go with the semi-v or the flat bottom. The G3 is a heck of a boat but only comes center console and flat bottom in their 19' and 20' models. I'm leaning towards the SeaArk though. Flat bottom or semi-v, side console and other good options as well. I'm sure you notice they are made from a bit thicker material too.
