  1. I agree and the same for limiting the size of boats on LOZ. Fortunately, IMO, the lake is pretty much fully developed and it is harder to develop property than in the past. So I think that the current conditions will prevail in the next 10 years.
  2. Ok, whatever idle speed is for cruisers is what I meant. I would think that plow speed would be closer to 10 MPH than 5, but I'm going by my bass boat speeds.
  3. IMHO, cruisers should be restricted to about 5-7 MPH on LOZ. In return, the driver of any boat going 5-7 MPH or less would not be subject to DWI laws.
  4. My parents really like Bentleys, but it is a little expensive, but not like the Blue Heron.
  5. No the alarm goes off too often when the boat is underway or even at the slip if the boat is in the water and any wave comes by. I had to remove the alarm lock and go with a very heavy duty all weather padlock.
  6. You're right. It is called a Loc R Bar and it cost me about $500 installed. I only protect my tackle and have had no problems so far with theft. My tackle costs more than the other items that could be easily removed, unless locked, from my boat. The storage compartment locks are not real sturdy.
  7. When I moved to LOZ, I bought and had installed a device called a Loc-A-Bar to the front compartments of my bass boat where I store all my tackle. It is a bar across the boat that cannot be removed and makes entry into the storage compartments impossible. I will admit that I have not had any theft issue, or other, after two years at Parkside Place Condo. I love having the bass boat on a lift in a 30' long slip where it stays dry all the time.
  8. For a part time bass fisherman at LOZ, it is worth every penny and more.
  9. Nice recipe. However, since I don't like fish, I will try it with chicken.
  10. Stitch, I owned a home on Truman Lake for 30 years before moving to Osage Beach in 2012. I fished Truman and the upper 20 miles of LOZ. Truman is a murky water lake and most of the fish are fairly shallow, but can be fickle. In my experience, the upper 20 miles of LOZ fishes like Truman and is usually stained water.
  11. I live in a condo near the glaize bridge inside the glaize arm. Yesterday, the entire lake that I can see from my 4th floor unit was covered in ice. Today, I do not see any ice.
  12. I'm ready, Bob. Last year, some physical issues mostly prevented me from fishing. Fortunately, I am over them and plan to fish much more (1-2 times per week) in 2014 when weather permits. But IMO, this ice will likely be around until Mid-March. It is thick and while tomorrow and Friday will be warm, next week's forecast looks cold, high in 30's. Unless you are going to hold an ice fishing tourney, I don't think that you will be able to hold your last tourney this weekend or even the next one.
  13. First, Bob is much more than an average bass fisherman. He's a die hard bass angler who will fish in any weather. I'm an amateur bass fisherman who will only fish in decent weather and have never fished in a bass tournament. Second, IMO, the site is even better for the occasional bass fisherman, than a tournament regular. Third, Bob has invested a lot of time, effort and (I'm sure) money into the site. It is a great, very professional site. He deserves to profit from it.
  14. The truth is that the daily fishing reports done by Bob are accurate, detailed and very helpful. Until the lake iced over, Bob went fishing about 5 days each week and did a full report on each day's fishing.
  15. If you like to fish for bass on LOZ, then this website is great for you. It is worth $100 per year instead of the $45 subscription to be a full member. However, it is only about bass fishing on LOZ, not crappie or catfish.
  16. I'm not surprised about the slow fishing because the wind was from the East. I moved to LOZ from Truman last year. Due to weather and some other factors, I have not been fishing much this year and last fall was slow. However, I fished on Truman for 30 years and always found that an East wind meant bad bass fishing. I'm not surprised that the same is true of LOZ.
  17. Sounds like you caught your fish on steep banks near the mouths of small coves. I am amazed that you didn't freeze on the way to the Gravios arm from PB#2. That's a long trip in 40-50 degree weather. Thnx for the report.
  18. Maybe all the bluegill get eaten by bass or catfish before they get old.
  19. I live in a condo at Parkside Place which is just past the Grand Glaize bridge on the Grand Glaize arm. I moved in about 2 months ago. I am still waiting for the upgrades and repairs to my bass boat to be done which should be this week. I have a 18' Nitro with two seats. I am an avid bass fisherman. Later this month I plan to start fishing at night. I usually fish alone, but would not mind the occasional guest. If you are interested in bass fishing, I could accomodate you. However, I am new to LOZ, but fished Truman for 30 years. If OP is interested in fishing with me, my email address is jpyllc55@sbcglobal.net.
  20. At least 60 lbs., I once saw some trotliners bring in one than big in Truman and they told me it was at least 60 lbs and probably 65-70. I'm a bass fisherman, I would have cut the line before trying to boat that monster. I didn't know that cats that big would hit a crankbait.
  21. Truman is permitted to get very high so LOZ can stay right around 660 to protect all its homes, condos and their docks. So I decided to quit the fight, sell my Truman Lake home and move to a condo on LOZ.
  22. Fast, .5 feet in one week, shoot Truman can drop that much in a few hours, OTOH, maybe that is one reason why I am moving my bass fishing from Truman to LOZ.
  23. Do any of you LOZ bass fishermen use superline?
  24. What line do you use for the majority of your bass fishing on LOZ, especially when using jigs or plastic baits?
  25. I am planning on moving to a condo on LOZ in the first 20 miles or so next year. I have an 18' bass boat. I don't plan to fish on weekends, except maybe before May and after September. I would like some information on boat traffic during the summer week days. Will I have any difficulty fishing on the main lake points early in the day or at night in the summer months if I avoid Friday night until Sunday night?
