Bill, I'd like to think those new tomato craw normans i just got in the mail have something to do with the variety of fish i'm catching. So far a walleye, crappie, bass, slab gill, and the flathead. In the green tint on the Kings that red and yellow color must really stick out.

I went out for a couple hours from 4 to 6 in anticipation of the storm coming in tonight. I threw a red norman crank and caught 11 bass with 1 keeper, a walleye just under 24 inches that weighed 4lbs 15 oz. and a 3 pound flathead all on the crank on 45 degree rock chunk banks. Water temp was around 62 to as high as 64 with a green tint to it.

Bferg and quillback thanks for your reports. We fished outta bigm this morning also and it was as calm as i 've seen it in a while with all the wind we've had recently. I threw the ned rig in a pbj and caught four or five non keepers right off the bat. My buddy threw a football jig and caught a couple non keepers about the same time. I put a green pumpkin senko on a 3/16 shakey head and started catching a few here and there. The wind picked up a little and we threw a wart and caught 4 or 5 more. We might have had 14 or 15 with no keepers but the majority of the fish were 14 3/4 kentuckies built like footballs. Warmest temp was close to 55 .

Has anyone noticed Stacey King was not on the leaderboard or did I miss him on there? I thought he still fished the Bassmasters. Just wondering. -
After the morning rain I went back to one of the banks I caught most of my fish on earlier in the day and find a wrapped boat on it. Nothing special about this bank except for the dropoff and brush someone buried on it. The pro spent over an hour on a 50 yard stretch of it but I was far enough away I couldn't tell how he was doing. Eventually he left and I threw a red wart with only two small keepers. I changed to a norman midnight sun which has a chartreuse belly and blue back. I caught 11 more with three small keepers in the next hour. I think the different color definitely helped. I figured a lot people were throwing red lures.

Merc, I haven't hit any bluffs yet but I will after the tourneys over. Champ, I actually hit some of the ugliest banks this morning. I stayed out of the way of the big boys. Rains over for now so i'm heading back out and throw a red square bill in the shallows on those same ugly banks. Think i'll leave the wart down the rest of the day. Maybe

I should have got out before 7 but waited till 8. What a mistake. Second cast I finally found big mama on a wart in 3 fow. She went 5/9. I caught 14 more males until the rain, lightning, and thunder started a little after 10. Some of the males got bigger. Lots of wrapped boats fishing down here. Everything was on the red/orange wart from 3 to 15 foot out from the bank. Sorry the big fish pic was dark, I blame it on my wife. haha

What's the reasoning of so many bucks in a couple stretches of banks? Does this mean some larger females will soon be following them in? Any ideas fellas?
-
Bill, the keeps were only 15 or 16 inches. I only worked two different banks about 100 yards long. They just kept coming and coming. About the only time I didn't catch one is when I brought a stick or leaf in.

They're were lots of wrapped boats flying by yesterday. Today maybe 5 or 6 that i saw. Water was that perfect green tint with about 2 foot visibility. Still no pics in my email. I even sent them again from my phone.

I started a little after 4 and finished after 6. I caught a few over 30 with 6 keepers. Nothing bigger than 2 1/2 lbs. but it seemed like every other cast i had one or they got off. I threw a tomato craw norman crank and caught a few and then lost it when the line broke on the cast. After looking for 10 minutes with no luck, i switched to a reddish orange wart and caught 5 or 6. I then threw a norman bumblebee color and caught about the same amount. The next 4 lures were a chartruese fat free shad, a orange and yellow walleye diver, red rattle spot and finally a red deep diver. It didn't matter what i threw and thats why i tied on the wally diver. Water temp was 56 to 57. As soon as my phone and email decide to hook up i'll post pics. I took several pics of fish on every lure. What a day!

Mike, after yesterday where they were jumping in the boat on crankbaits , today was totally different up the kings. My buddy and I caught 4 in about 15 minutes off 45 degrees banks around 8:30 and then they just quit. For the next 3 hours nothing and then I picked up a green tube with orange strands and between the two of us we caught at least 10 and had about that many slam the tube and let go in our last hour of fishing. Nothing bigger than 15 but it made our day after the miserable morning. Just slow dragging the tube. Good luck tomorrow. We're throwing the crank first thing for a hour and then switching over to the tube if the crank bite is not there.

YourRightOnThe Norman. I found The Lures Packaging. I've Bought Way To Many Lures Lately.

The crankbait bite is on. Water temps up the kings past sweetwater close to 54 with a greenish brown tint. I started at 10 and ended at 2:30 right before the rain hit. I caught a total of 20 and had at least 7 get off back to the boat. All the fish were on the red and yellow crank in the pics. They were up against the bank and out deep as 23 feet. I caught 8 on one spot before i finally left. I really impressed the older gentleman watching from his deck. I had such a good day that my line broke reeling a keeper in and after waiting a few seconds the fish jumped and threw my crank. I had a extra one just like it but i retied it and continued fishing.I think the lure is one of the H20 brands from Academy. Largest was under 4 with a mix of kentuckies and largemouth. Wish i would have taken more pics but it got old after a while by myself.

Thanks for the report, you guys did great on the jerkbait. I'm going to set the wart aside and throw a jerkbait tomorrow.

Thanks Champ Will do

Nice jobs guys, we probably saw you guys when we put in at Viney somewhere after two. From your report we should have started earlier. We fished the wart and jig only and in the three hours we fished and came away with only four. The red wart caught all four on a bluff bank, a point, inside a cove halfway back and on a 45 degree bank. We even had fish chase the wart up to the boat several times. It was cold and windy with water temps finally getting up to 47. All four were keepers with the biggest the 3 pound LM in the middle of the cove. We were in the silverflake triton.

Sorry I didn't show a pic of the jig but the painted purple head was the key to catching them. I tried two others of yours with green heads and they wouldn't touch them. I throw the purple back and they hit it immediately. Go figure.

Fish were right against the bank today on 45 degree banks. The red wiggle wart and a purple head 1/2 oz. football jig with dark green and brown skirt provided to me by Danger Close/Skunkworks worked like a charm. Largest was a 17 largemouth and two keeper kentuckies on the wart and 6-15 inch kentuckies on the jig. I probably had at least 10 others pick up the jig and drop it just as quick. I had a couple taking it sideways before I knew it. My green line blended in with the water and was awful hard to see it today. Trash was coming down the Kings by sweetwater ramp around 3 today so fishing is going to be bad down the kings for the next few days. Water temp was up to 50 by 4 pm in the Kings.

Way to go, looks like you and your dad had a great time. I hope you continue to post. I think alot of others don't post because of some of the negative viewers on here. Oh by the way, GO HAWKS! Lets see if that stirs any up. I'll be there next week for the Big 12 tourney.

Does anyone else have a occasional problem with wind knots when throwing with braid? There's nothing worse than a braid wind knot. It's sometimes easier to cut the line than try to undo it. I've tried several types of braid but now i'm willing to use nanofil if it cuts down on wind knots. I know don't throw into the wind.

I should have tried it yesterday. Fish were anywhere from 10' down to 30'. I think they were shallow because there were shad fluttering on top. Seagulls were everywhere on the upper kings cleaning up on the shad. Maybe that's why I only caught two on a dropshot .Water temps were 35 to 36.

Left the kings river for clearer water up the white and found chocolate water to pt. 21. Water is 39 degrees and very dark in that area. Threw a rig, jig, spoon and jerkbait with no luck. Turned around and headed back down the kings past kings marina and found nice green water. Temp was around 39. I managed to catch 3, all about 15 and one eighth all on a 1/2 oz. war eagle spoon. Most fish I saw were down in the 30' range. Tons of baitfish out there but I couldn't get any to hit the spoon besides the 3 I caught. All 3 bass were almost as white as a white bass.

I had a gift card from BassPro so i stopped at the Olathe BPS while visiting relatives over the last two days. The Live Target baitball lures in crankbaits and jerkbaits were all gone from the shelves at the price of $14.99. Quillback had a post on the 30th about these lures and i was just wondering did anyone else buy any since then or have you had a chance to throw them? The salesman there said they can't keep them in stock.
