  1. Here's a few pics I snapped from last years trip!! It looks cold!! 24 miles of river to ourselves in 2 days was worth it tho! Correction...the two photo's of Cody's nice browns were taken by Phil on day one..
  2. Yep, Flathead and Channel cat on Saturday! Love to meet some new folks, nows the chance to speak up!
  3. Look forward to meeting you Pete! I think GotMuddy is smoking a brisket again, it was awesome last year!
  4. I"m going to have to drive to searcy Thursday and leave there early Friday morning. No problem if my boat is needed, but if it isn't id assume leave it with all the driving. We'll figure that out as the weekend gets closer.. If Hoglaw can't make it, we'd be down a boat from last year. NO problem if it's needed, or if someone is not comfortable navigating the river. I"m good with that if needed!
  5. Thanks for the report, saw some of the pics, looks like a great time! Wow, didn't know this, hate to hear it. Have lots of respect for the way Mitch carried himself on here!
  6. Lol, gotcha on that one Cody..lol I"m bringing some jerkbaits to tho... Rick, glad to hear the knee is better. You'll be fishing machine come time for the jigfest!
  7. I'm planning on being there Friday and Saturday nights as well. Bringing fish, potatoes, cooker and oil. I"m gonna try to get there early Friday morning like last year, my wife has me going to a concert that Thursday night. I can bring a boat if needed ( an L48 25 jet)
  8. This one wouldn't work anyways, because of the high transom of a blazer, I think 20 inch transom is all this go to. I think I can make on out of some scrap around the shop!
  9. Something like this is what your talking about wrench? I would like one on my trolling moter to, but since only got one in my budget, i'd put it on my steering console, i'n thinking I can rotate it and still read it from the deck of the boat. http://www.basspro.com/Sully-Transducer-Brackets-for-Outboard-Motors/product/387/
  10. It is sad really. The spring river used to have a good population of them, this guy stated in a video they did a few years ago, but he said there all but extinct in that river now. Guess all the beer cans on the bottom don't do them any good.
  11. My Blazer is kinda a dual purpose boat for me. Running shallow river for smallies and walleyes, and some lake and backout fishing for crappie/catfish. I think Santa is gonna bring me a new sonar unit. Any of you have trouble running shallow river and having transducers on the boat? Thought about a portable mount I can raise when not needed? Also i'm helping Santa/My wife research a sonar unit. Looking at a Lowarance elite 5, they get good reviews, and got deals on them now. Any body got one and like it. Don't plan to use it smallie fishing, but hope to find some crappie and maybe even walleye water with it?
  12. Don't bet the farm on these long range forcasts, but there more accurate than in the past. Looks pretty good if holds! http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/mountain-home-ar/72653/december-weather/331876?monyr=12/1/2014
  13. I"m making a bold prediction, that someone is gonna hook a 6 plus pound brown on this years trip! I do hope the weather is better than last years meeting, at least the roads hopefully. But i'd take some cold weather if we could get the wind, or lack there of, that we had last year! That was great for jigging!
  14. actually the pic is sideways, but I go top to bottom 1/16 1/8 1/4. Those 1/32 I'm gonna keep separate for my fly rod, or if the water get really low. I only got those in white, mainly for my smallies on the fly. Yeah there's no telling how many zigs you got Ham. However, I had forgotten about those Richard brought me when we met last year, I had those to, so i'm stocked up for sure. I got some red and black, and of course pinky's this time for the arsenal!!
  15. Here's some of my cold water lures I've been working on tonight while my wife is out doing the Black Friday madness.First I had my litte boy help me string some new floro on a couple baitcasters, then I started arraging my tacklebox some. The jerkbait in the second pic is a vision 110 jr, I really liked that one last year, as the bass seemed to also. It's an odd color as that was one of the only ones available when I ordered it, but it worked. It's already got some battle wounds! When I wanna go deeper I tend to lean on the pointers, esp that long bill model, it will get down there if need be. Ordered two different kinds of hair jigs i'm gonna try, I think the cumberlands are deer hair, not sure bout the arkies..Got some zoom trailers I may play with also. I"m ready, may hit the current river Saturday!
  16. Getting my zig jigs organized for the trip while my wife attacks Black Friday
  17. Yeah, that stinks Kyle, hope it works out!
  18. 10 4 on the float and fly, or jig and float. I love to fish for smallies on a flyrod with that, works great out of a boat. There's days that out does everything for me! Oh my there's the jerkbaits now...lol Let me get mine....
  19. Agreed! Noticed ya'll jigs seemed lighter and more minnow pattern? Do you swim those slowly? These I ordered are more for dragging on the bottom..
  20. Nice arsenal there Saluki. Here's some I got in just today from TW. I've got a plethora of zig jigs now that work, looks like your white one with the red tie is a zig?, but wanting to try some hair jigs this year. These here are Deer and rabbit hair supposedly. Gonna play with some trailers to, I had good luck last year trailing a stike king jig with a jennybugs twin tail grub. The spots seemed to like that one. Would love to tie some up like those Mitch makes, those looked awesome!
  21. Got some great advice from Mitch the other day, gonna try to tie me some up hair jigs as well. I did purchase a few, a couple different kinds, Cumberland, and arkie. One is deer hair and the other is rabbit I think, in black and crawfish. I'm with ya Ham, gonna try those to... Great advice guys!
  22. Are you using florucarbon on your jig rods?
  23. At what water temps do you consider to cold to get an effective fish bite? I was thinking anything over 40 to be worth trying?
