  1. What Carolina-rig-01 did not mention was that one of the big fish weighed in that afternoon was 6.70lb Largemouth that was caught on a Spinnerbait. Which was much to close to my Big Bass of the year which was 6.96lbs.
  2. Don't overlook the Topwater Plugs this winter on the rivers. Some of the guys from my old group out of Illinois Smallmouth Alliance were having good luck last winter with them on some area streams.
  3. I was hoping we would! We had a good turnout this year and I think everyone enjoyed it even if it was a little cool.
  4. We had a fine get together on January 1, 2007 this year. It would be nice if we could do that again this year as I really enjoyed that and I think a lot of others did too.
  5. Saw some fly South over the house a couple days ago.
  6. I picked up a small Milk Glass Jar about 2-1/2" High and about 1-1/2" in Diameter with Armor & Co. Packers Chicago on the bottom. I also found a bottle with Wonder Beverage Co. Harvey Bottling Works, Harvey, Illinois.
  7. The motor blew on it and I wanted a Bass Boat so I got it fixed and in the mean time ordered a New Cobra 201D Bass Boat. My good friend owned Venom Boats at the time and was Building the Cobra. I love my Cobra. You forgot backtrolling for Walleye on Bull Shoals or the White River arm of Table Rock.
  8. I took a look at one on the computer Don and it looks to be a great Guide Boat. My second boat was the Tracker Targa 1900 Walleye Rig that I ran on Lake Michigan often and inland lake like Kentucky. I alway felt safe in that boat and it road big water like a champ. Sold it to a guy in Canada who was going to use it to fish Walleye Tournaments. Talk to him a few months back and he still love it.
  9. That is a beautiful photo of what appears to be a beautiful River. Thank you for bringing it to us.
  10. I had no idea that they gave this many workshops during the year. I was thinking they only did them during the Spring Fever or the Hunting season. I suspect that the Flyfishing Workshop is conducted by the Manager or head guy in the White River Fly Shop. Pre-registration is required so they may bring someone in from around the area. Seems few people know about these workshops. I am sure it would be better received if more Anglers knew about the events. I always see Fly Fishing Questions on here so I know that a lot of guys and gals have questions about Fly Fishing.
  11. Lilly, I saw it in a Post on this thread. Lilly, I was curious to see if there was a link for these events and found one. Here is the link to the Hunting and Fishing Workshops at the Springfield, Mo. BPS store. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s...oreID=15#events
  12. You were catching fish and my boat is in the shop for repairs. What is the new toy you're breaking in?
  13. Used to do that for Smallmouths in Illinois until I moved down here. Was a lot of fun too. I also did some Steelhead fishing up around Milwaukee, Ws., but the year round fishing for the Smallies was a lot of fun. Cold but fun.
  14. Just the kind of help I need to catch these elusive Table Rock Fish. I see that there is a Seminar on Dropshot and Spoon on 12-18-07 at 6:30pm at Bass Pro Shop and I am making a note of this and will attend. I will also attend anything that gets put together here on the site as I need all the help I can get.
  15. You guys on here don't know my friend and fishing companion Norm M. but if you did you would love him and cherish his friendship. He looks like the late Jerry Garcia and can catch Smallies and just about anything else that swims year round. All his fishing is done wading the rivers of Illinois and I thought he should be in great shape after all that work wading the river until I saw this post by him on my ISA site. Well the angiogram showed 1 artery with 100% blockage , another with 90% blockage and another with less that will be treated with meds . I got 3 stents put in the one that was completely blocked but it did not open it completely . I go back in a month or so to get the 90% blockage worked on . Part of mt heart was in what they call cardiac hibernation and has scar tissue . Hopefully within 6 weeks I should see some pretty good recovery . I got 3 more scrips today to go along with my diabetes and cholesterol meds , plus I take an asprin a day . I will be doing this for a good long while on some , others the rest of my life . I was told I was lucky I wasn't dead , that will give you a pretty good wakeup call . All I can say is that it is entirely my own fault . I did not take care of myself and I did not get regular checkups which could have caught it much earlier . I owe it all my to my wife who finally convinced me to get checked out . Do yourself a favor and get your health checked and take better care of yourself with your diet , smoking and drinking . The earlier you change your lifestyle and the earlier you catch the potentially life threatening problems the better off you will be. If you saw my friend on the river you would think him a homeless man looking for something to eat. You would be wrong he is married and has a fine loving family and is a Trainmaster for a local Railroad. I would like everyone to say a little prayer for my friend Norm that he may recover from this problem and get back to chasing Smallmouths again on the Kankakee and other rivers in Illinois. We should all heed his words and get a good check-up so this doesn't sneak up on us. Norm My friend God Bless you and get well fast!
  16. Those Pictures look fantastic. There is one with a Bear (#6 in photos of Bears) and he looks like he is looking at you take the photo. Thanks for sharing the photo's.
  17. That's a place I'd like to go to one day especially after seeing a few specials on the TV and pictures. It has got to be an awesome place to be in. Glad you made it back safe and sound.
  18. This is my Personal Favorite. Canon A75 Digital Camera at about 11:30am.
  19. I think I need to read my Paint Shop Pro 9 User Guide more closely. I spent many days wandering the Forest Preserves of Illinois a few years back taking photo's of the Wildlife I found. I really enjoyed that time spent wandering the woods with just me and that Camera. My first was a Canon AE1 Program and I still have it and it takes great pictures to this day. I am sure that we will learn much from you and I have your tutorial in my bookmarks so I can read them often. Thank you for being here and for sharing your knowledge with us.
  20. I tried your link but it doesn't work. Very nice setup that you have. I have been using the Canon 630 SLR's and am now finally using an Elan IIe that I have had for a while. I will be going to Digital soon as I like the ability to download right away. Lately my photography has been photo's of boat making test runs driven by friends of mine.
  21. Really nice Pictures Chuck. I like the ones with the Spider Webs especially. Did you ever say what Camera you are using? Is it Digital or Film? I saw on the other thread that you are using a EOS 20D DSLR. That is a very nice camera.
  22. Those picture show that he is a master at lighting and shutter speed. He has the Fly line almost stopped in the air but yet still blurred enough to show movement. I am sure I could learn a ton following him around. Thank you for getting him here Lilly and for him showing us those awesome Rocky Mountain Pictures. That is a beautiful place for sure.
  23. There are so many beautiful Smallmouth filled streams in Missouri and Arkansas that would be a joy to float and get to know your nephews on that would be such a dangerous water to take them on. You could camp and wade some areas and see wildlife that is going to be abondant along the shores rather then all the industry along the Mississippi.
  24. Who could possibly want to come home from such a beautiful place. I backpacked in Glacier Nat'l. Park a good number of years ago and ran into a couple Canadian Farmers that came to fly fish below Dawn Mist Falls. What a beautiful place and they were catching Trout on every cast of the fly. Thanks for sharing this wonderful story Al.
  25. I fought a big Carp up on Stockton Lake on year I hooked while trolling a dropoff for Walleye. I thought I had a good Walleye on til I got it in and found out it was a Carp. I also hook another Carp on the Fox River in Illinois one Winter Morning while fishing and Eddie for Smallmouths. I was sure I had a 4-5 pound Smallie on til I got it up to me. What a disappointment that was to be standing in that cold water wading the river and catching that. He wasn't foul hooked either he had the 1/8oz. jig and twister in his upper lip.
