  1. We were planning a 3 day trip on the lower end wed-fri but it's out of the banks now it appears.
  2. Looks like a really nice time! I've always wanted to hit that area.
  3. Thanks to all who took the time to read and consider this petition. Scott

  5. Thanks for the info...I might give it a try next time.
  6. Looks like a nice trip!
  7. Thanks. I agree about the drought.
  8. Anybody have good instructions on how to clean and cook a gar? We caught several on jug lines at truman this weekend. We let em go but am interested in cooking some up. Thanks!
  9. Congratulations! I hope it is the first of many.
  10. Well, we did HT to Galena this week. Three Nights was perfect for the speed we travel. Water was pretty low for our loaded canoes but we were able to manage. We went Monday thru Wednesday and the wind was strong and gusty out of the south which for the lower James is bad. We caught lots of fish but not the size you would normally expect from this stretch. I had one 17 incher just above Kerr, the rest were 12" or less. We had better quality fish on the Niangua week before last. Still had a great time and stayed close to home. To do this stretch in one day would be tottally unrealistic for the way I float. All in all, it was a good float and the we had a great time.
  11. That's kinda what I was thinking Osage. I just hate being in a hurry on the river. To me it kind of defeats the purpose. Not to mentiong, it seems like I always get on the water later than I intend. We did 3 days on the Niangua last week, 21 miles or so. It worked out about right. The James is a little slower, that's why I thought it might be about right for us. Everybody has their own ideas though, I've been with people who like to do 15 miles plus a day. For me that makes a good 2 to 2 1/2 day float. Different strokes for different folks, that's what makes the world go around. Have a good one.
  12. Please do rain on it...we need it!! I am good at taking a short trip and turning it into a long one. I have done two day trips from hootentown to horse creek. It normally works out okay especially if one or both days might be a little short. I've never floated all the way to Galena. Thanks!
  13. Thanks! Sounds like a great trip! Did you find good gravel bars for camping??
  14. Planning on a 3 day float next week. Considering Hootentown to Galena. Don't mind dragging a little but don't want it too low. Any thoughts? Thanks!
  15. Nice Fish!
