BUMP...planning on going this thursday...seeing any whites?
-
I fished from 100am to 7pm Saturday. Started off at Swan, stayed there for 2 hours...Not 1 bite on white roostertail and chartruese roostertail. Say about 4 or 5 other people there, no one caught anything. Left and went to Slough Holler, fished for 2 hours there, nothing....went to River Run. First cast caught a nice male, 2lbs. They had the water running below. After I caught that, thought it was one. They shut the water off and then over the next 2 hours I caught 2 trout. went to Barker hole. Caught about 15 bass...5" long. 1 12" walley. stayed there til 530ish. Went to Beaver creek and fished till 7pm. I think ALL of Forsyth was in Beaver Creek...and no one was catching anything. thinkt he cold snapped pushed em all back out. Anyways...frustrated.

IM leaving work early, going to go check this out:-)

on the park side, right?
-
im so pumped!!! See ya there this weekend!

Wonder if they would be good in rivers then? Since there are not a lot of lake spots? I was also thinking of attaching a fluke or big plastic minnow and seeing what happens? LOL. I think they are neat, i will get bored of them if I don't catch fish on em, but fishing is a hobby...and I love trying new things!

Not sure I can help with the temp of spawn, but I have had good luck catching them on a Rogue above the darn (orange and black, anything white), or with a 3" grub/jig (white, wht/chrt, orng) from the bank when they are spawning. Best luck I have had has been above the darn on the rip raps.

Anyone ever use this Lure before? I haven't, but it intrigues me. I bought one (was $3 at BPS). It calls for a 3-4" worm/creature of your choice. I got 2 in the pack and put a 4" Slider on one, 3" grub with crazy tail on the other. Thought I would give em a toss next time im out just to experiment. Any feedback from prior users would be appreciated though! Looks like http://www.wobbleheadlures.com/id3.html

Large Fish Behind The Dam
walker04 replied to pawpaw_1958's topic in Bagnell Dam Tailwater/Lower Osage River
I hear they are good eating? Anyone ever try em? I just biased because i grew up around trout and salmon, so carp was considered trash in my family. 30 years later and I still haven't ever even tasted it. -
nice grab, man!

Well I think I have been well educated enough to begin some serious fishing there, cant wait! Thank you all for informing me! I will report back my success as the spring moves on!

You are probably right, but when I get a jones for fishing...I will plop out a $10 swimming pool in my backyard and hit it, knowing there isn't ANY fish at all. Alright, not really, but kinda close. Thanks for the insight! So...what is this "pothole" i keep hearing about? Now that I know the bend that is referred to as Barkers hole, where in is the pothole located from there?
-
Very good to know, thank you so much! I was going to ask whereabouts to get there. I fish from bank 99% of time, so know where you can get to the water is 1/2 the battle. was gong to ask if using snow white roostertails was still working, or is there a different lure working better for Whites right now?

I have started fishing in forsythe area in last year, instead of stockton, and still learning where to fish. Where is the "Barker Hole"? I LOVE white bass fishing! I tried beaver creek a last week on that saturday it was 70 degrees, went down Slough Hollow road, then an offroad that goes into the fields and up the creek a ways. There must have been 30 people there fishing, no one catching anything but claiming that earlier that morning they were. Anyways, any tips on where to go to catch some whites would be much appreciated!

THank you, i will go check em out today. I do like to shop local instead of online, But I still consider Bass Pro local for me, lol. I guess Fin and Feather would fit into the category more of "Local" Seen that shop a million times, never been in. I am excited to go now!

i was on the Forsythe side, I was running short on daylight, so I stayed on that side to save myself the 15 mins I thought it would take to get to the otherside. Next time I will get on the powersite side. It gave me the jones for some more walleye though, thats for sure.

I am looking for some jig spinner forms, with or without the blad attached...looked at Basspro shops to no avail. I have attached a pick of what I am looking for below. I can buy em online, but I would rather purchase in person. I live in springfield...anyone know where I can find em?

So, went to powersite on Thursday night, got there about 1 hour before sunset. was using white sliders, tried jerkbait too. Was looking for walley. About 20 mins before dark, i was about 100yds from the darn itself and landad a nice 19" walleye using a 1/4oz white on white roostertail. Then caught 2 rainbows back to back, the first being about 15 in, the second about 11". A buddy I was with came over and showed me a 2.5lb whitebass he caught on white on white rooster tail. He began fishing there with me and nailed a 2.75lb smally, thought he had a HUGE walleye, lol. He lost that lure so switched to a green and orange roostertail with green tail, caught a 3lb LM bass. by this time is 30-40 mins into dark, and we figured all we had left to catch was catfish and we didn't bring the tackle for that ;-) PS. there was no water spilling over, but there was water on the soutside coming out. was 68f degrees when we left.

Got to 123 bridge today, didn't realize how low the water was. Fished near under the bridge and along the rocky bank for about an hour, friend of mine was using chartruese roadrunner, and tried white. I tried black/chart jig for a bit, also tried a jerkbait for abit (got a new rod for it for christmas, mostly just wanted to use it;-). Nothing. we went to highpoint, found some deep water we could get into, but man the wind was blowing like crazy, buddy of mine caught a 13" LMbass on a chart roadrunner. spend 90 mins there...that was all we caught. tried jigging it there too. saw several other people at highpoint, cathing nothing. saw some duckhunters who had better luck than us. just for kicks and giggles we went to steel bridge, fished that horseshoe for a bit. that water is CRYSTAL clear, never seen it that clear. It was down about 10 feet too. fished it for a bit, not expecting much, and got what we expected. was fun though, nice day for catching nothing. I did take not of where to fish for whites and crappie this spring though, since the water was down;-)

Thanks for the update, bill!

Already have the roadrunners in my bag! They are a go to for me almost any time. Chartruese and white seem to get the most bites and of multiple species. thanks for all the help guys, i will definitely report back tomorrow night!

@Straw hat and ZSteale...Thanks for the ideas, I think I will try those suggestions. I will report back on my success....or lack thereof.

mind you, im fairly novice at MO fishing so far too....so bank fishing, lets say at highpoint, and trying toget in that deep water...how are you fishing it? i would thin from a boat jig or minnow over shrubs, but from bank....? (for crappie)
