(late But).. Last Nights Fishing Report W/pics
tippet7 replied to Leonard's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
It's measured in metric. -
One is TIPPET7 (ME..John) the other is TIPPETT7 I have been seeing several posts from 2T7 (mine is only 1T7) just in case either one of us say something that is not exactly kosher with everyone, please make sure the correct one gets the butt whipping. Thanks John TIPPETT7-no offense intended, but it was pointed out to me a couple of weeks that I made a post about night fishing and thought maybe I had hit the scotch a little too much the night before beacuse I couldnt remember making the post. I just want to avoid any confusion. J

great game last night. although C of O came up short, and really they got hosed on a bad call in the last minute or so. they hung very wel with OWU and had a incredible tournament. i was sitting right behind the official table and the ref came over and asked them to look at a replay during a timeout. he shook his head and said he missed a foul on OWU. i dont know that it would have meant a difference or not, but it was kind of interesting at the time. Congrats to BOTH the mens and womens basketball teams from C of O. now lets get ready for some baseball.

My niece Haley Hodges, was taken from her home in Lindale TX on Friday. She was last seen in Marana AZ at a Wal Mart store. The boy that took her is a 16 year old white male driving a 2003 Chevy Silverado Shortbed truck with tinted windows. TEXAS LIC # 32PPT8. His name is "Dakota" It is thought he is driving to San Diego, so if you know of anyone in that area, please foward this information to them! Please call 911 if this vehicle is spotted or the number listed on the flyer. Thanks John

i was out there as well and was also surprised at how crowded it was. i got there around 1145 and had my first fish on at 1148!! i started off using my O-Scud (ostrich herl, dubbing and peasant tail) and caught 3 more in the next 20 mins. the rebar hole was PACKED to the gills, the area between 1 and 2 was jam packed as well. so i stayed around # 2. caught a few on a #24 w/d 40, but the most came on a #22 griffiths gnat. i was hitting a seam and the fish were killing the fly as they hit the outside part of the seam. i wound up with maybe another dozen or so before i had to get out of the water at 140pm. the weather was beautiful and there was plenty of fish being caught. going to try to hit it again during the week. anyone going out this week at all???

i was thinking the same thing. that ad is VERY annoying

i usually just wear a pair of Patagonia or Simms wading socks (they keep my feet nice and war) nylon wind pants and in the winter time my LL Bean neoprene waders. in the summer, i wear hodgeman breathables. for upper body, an under layer of t shirt, mock turtleneck, windproof type jacket (think golf style pullover) that will usually keep me warm. i dont get cold too easy (extra padding and all that) so i very seldom wear gloves.

Don't Know If This Is The Right Topic To Post In
tippet7 replied to am4mu's topic in General Angling Discussion
I guess....depending on the size of the flat screen tv.......some of those fish in the reports MAY actually be 20 inches or more now. -
I took my 10 yr step son to the lake to let him try his hand at fly fishing. i set him up with my 7.5 foot 4 wt rod. i let him start off at chute #2, showed him how to "cast" and let him alone. within 5 mins of being in the water, he had his first trout landed on a fly rod. (Thanks Don-but the picture you took of us actually did come out just fine!) After a while we moved down to the rebar area. everyone seemed to be hooking up and he was pretty excited. he hooked into several fish down there using a variation of the "g bug" (i think i will call my version Z bug in honor of Zach) anyway...he hooked into this little bow, fought and landed it without any help at all from me!! right after we let this one go, he was going to get out of the water to warm up his hands, he handed me the fly rod (i did not fish while he was in the water..this was his day!!) i hooked into a pretty big bow (around 20 inches) Zach's hands were no longer cold and he came over to fight the fish. he fought for a good 3 mins until he dropped the rod too low and the bow spit the hook. in this picture he doesnt look too disappointed about it. we left about 230, with zach landing 3 fish, me landing 6 and zach totally hooked on fly fishing!!

I fished Saturday night as well. I got in about 11pm fished just below #1. Caught a couple on a brown pine sql bugger thingy I tyed up last week. Moved down about 50 yards or so and started hooking up a lot more. Changed over to a cream colored bunny and landed 6. Best fish was an absolutly beautiful 18 inch bow. Great colors. I will post a picture of that one later. I left the water around 145 with a total of 13 fish landed and a couple more long distance releases.

i did not see any boats out there at all.

I was in the water at 1120 with zero units running. started off below #2 throwing a streamer (pine sqrl/saddle hackle) landed a couple, but was getting hit on almost every cast. moved down to rebar and had a couple of more hookups. switched to a trout crack and had a couple of really nice fish on, but i was using 7x tippet and got broke off 3 times. switched to a scud i tied up, kind of a flattened out scud tied on a #14 hook and the fish we all over this fly. i was fishing the rebar hole itself, casting up and letting the fly sink into the hole, just the seam of the current. i counted 52 fish landed and many more "long distance releases" i landed a couple of browns, the largest landed was about 18 or so. i did have one on that went about 22 or 23 (one the trout crack victims) i left the water around 315 with about 60 fish or so landed. lots of silver bullets in the bunch. but it beat staying home and watching the lifetime network with mama!! it did seem that almost everyone was catching fish yesterday. i only saw one larger fish taken, that was in the shallow run just up from the rebar hole. that fish was probably around 24 inch bow.

for example todays projection is 0700 100 0800 200 what exactly is that telling me? thanks
-
I hooked into a brown on Dec 4th that went about 24-25 inches below the rebar hole. I didnt land him, but that was the first brown i had seen in a long time.
-
I saw NO browns at all. I am sure there were some up there (maybe?)
-
Started out below #2 around 9. Not too much action, caught a couple on a wine midge. Fished the water between #2 and the rebar for awhile with a fish here and there. Caught one on a red soft hackle at the top of the rebar run. Once in the rebar hole, it was LIGHTS OUT. Nothing too big, 18 incher was the biggest and the hits varied between subtle and a locomotive. Fish were caught on olive w/b, peach jig, ginger jig, brown and black jig and a couple on a white jig. Ended up with over 50 fish. Bad thing was, I did not see one fish that went over 25 inchs But, it beat working, and the day was perfect! Get out there and fish
