  1. This morning I was up in the flats area above the rebar hole tying a new fly on, when I hear the rocks crunching. I look up and there is the guide with an already bad reputation (I wont mention the guide service name, but its the one that everyone usually talks about) guiding 2 clients and positions 1 of them right in the spot I am fishing. Here is how it looked. I am there by myself (nearest fisherman is at the rebar hole, I am at the top of the flats) facing the north bank about 20 ft off the bank. It would seem clear to Ray Charles that I am fishing towards the bank. So numbnuts tells his client to fish here and he was taking his other client a few yards downstream. So I mutter to myself for a minute or two and say screw it, so I start casting right where I had been fishing and quickly realize that 2 people cannot fish this same spot. So I move on down and fish the rebar hole. WTF?? Have just a shred of common sense. There are some things such as etiquette and ethics, maybe you should look those words up instead of being such a horses behind EVERY TIME YOU GET ON OR IN THE WATER!!! Rant off. Now for the fishing report. I did ok on crackle backs until I got broke off. Then I went to a possum scud and hit a couple of nice bows. The largest was a 19incher, very brightly colored. I was only able to fish for 2.5 hours today, there was hardly anyone there (until a certain guide came along anyway) saw lots of fish, but only saw a couple of the "bruisers" No browns caught today at all.
  2. Mine actually told me last night that she WANTS a vacuum for Christmas this year. I said there is no way I am getting suckered into that. I get her a vacuum and I would never hear the end of it!!
  3. I dont see any pictures.
  4. I see the Nikon D40x also comes with the "fish optimizer" lens
  5. I took my ex wife fishing once not too long ago, and as luck would have it, just as I am starting to REALLY enjoy myself, the game warden approches me and tells me to get my foot off her head so she can get out of the water. Those wardens spoil all the fun!
  6. I have been fishing since I was about 2 yrs old. I started fly fishing because my father said I probably could not cast a fly rod to save my life. I was 15 and told him that fly fishing looked boring and too easy. Well, even at 15 yrs old, you can realize that you are wrong!! But I got hooked on it quickly and even though I got away from it while I was in the Marine Corps, I got back into the sport in 1997 and have not strayed too far since. I worked for the Vail Police Department in Vail Colorado, my apartment was 100 yards from Gore Creek (Blue Ribbon waters), I had easy access to the Eagle River, Colorado River and many many mountain lakes and streams. I used fly fishing as a stress release. When I moved here in 2001 I realized that there is warm water fly fishing to be done as well and quickly got into smallmouth and crappie fly fishing. Since 2001, I have only used my spinning gear MAYBE 3 times. The effort is much more than spin/baitcasting, but the rewards are so much better. The company seems to be a bit more "gentlemanly" (ladies, you know I include you as well) and so much more relaxing, even in a crowded hole like the rebar. Just my .02
  7. Thanks for the new screen background!! Beautiful photo
  8. I think we should get them embroidered with our screen names on the back as well as the bumper stickers.
  9. Yes sir, I am. And dont tell anyone, but I was "working" last night when I posted that fishing report. I had the manager on duty status Phil, do you guys have any pontoons for sale anymore or did you get rid of them?
  10. i fished from about 930 until 1140 and did very well using a crackleback and a chocolate midge dropper. i started off below #2 and missed a few on the c-back and caught a couple of bows on the midge. i moved up towards #2 and caught about 15 on the midge and 2 on the c-back. i switched over to an olive bugger for about 15 mins before leaving and had 2 strikes with 1 bow landed. all the fish except one were bows and nothing went over 16inches. but hey...at least i wasnt working!
  11. Here ya go. Problem, solved, now go fly fishing
  12. I will be getting a new 20ft pontoon pretty soon and I do not have the room at my house. I will be using it mostly on Taneycomo but hauling it to Table Rock during the summer. Anyone know of a place to store it that has decent security in place? I live in Holllister, so somewhere close would be great! Thanks
  13. I have 8 interior doors for sale. They range from 28in to 32in. Similiar to the doors in this linkHome Depot interior doors there are 2 that are pre hung, 1 has a nickle colored door handle on it (very nice looking) these are the wrong sizes for my house and i need to get them out of my living room!! Make me an offer. jmoran@dickclarksabbranson.com
  14. I have a Pixtreme also. here are a couple of pics from that camera. Only problem i have with the camera is the slow shutter and not very good flash. 2nd photo was taken at night
  15. I got this from 9 news out of Denver this morning. Video-9news.com fly fishing video report LARIMER COUNTY – It's been said that fly fishing is the most fun you have standing up. This week, there were around 70 men and women fishing the waters of Northern Colorado who would agree. "Worth every minute," said Brian Kimmel of Gallatin Gateway, Montana. "Definitely." Fly rod in hand, Kimmel was competing in the National Fly Fishing Championship. Many of the best anglers this country has to offer hit the waters of the Big Thompson River, the Poudre River and Red Feather Lakes with their eyes set on a trout and a gold medal. "This competition is probably the pinnacle competition these days," Kimmel said after finishing the first round of the first day. The championship is the culmination of regional competitions held across the United States. Fifteen anglers move on from this contest to compete as part of Team USA at the 2008 World Championships in New Zealand. There was a volunteer, like Steve Thrapp, for every competitor. Their job was to monitor the anglers and their catch. "We lay the fish in the trough, measure head to tail and then release them back into the river as quickly as possible," said Thrapp. While watching the fabled fly fishing motion, the idea of competition may seem out of place. "A lot of fly fishermen don't agree with competition, but you've got to have a US team to represent the country and the world," said Colorado angler Steve Parrott, who competed for a spot on Team USA. Not everyone in this competition was looking to fish their way onto Team USA. Anglers from England, Ireland, and Canada traveled here just for a chance to win a medal. There are no cash prizes in the National Fly Fishing Championship. Aside from medals and Team USA, the anglers were lured here by the beauty of the water. "Trout don't live in ugly places," Kimmel said as his fly line delicately drifted through the cold water of the Poudre.

  25. No idea who "project healing waters" is, but with only 10 posts on this board he/she is firing off shots at someone that has time and time again taken NON PAYING fishers out and has produced big fish and in numbers as well, all the while NOT fishing in a chute area. I have fished with Leonard, a couple of times and I ran into him one Sunday afternoon recently and we got to talking about flies, Leonard took me to his car and gave me a half dozen of his flies. About 2 weeks ago I was night fishing and was not getting anything, as soon as i tied on one of his flies I got slammed. I caught a couple more and then lost it on a rock or log or something. i tied on one of my flies and got squat! moved downstream a little and still got nothing, not even a hit until I tied on another of his flies. So until you go fishing with him or use his flies or follow his advise S.T.F.U.
