Depends on how much you want to spend. Holiday Hills is pretty inexpensive, but a little on the boring side. Branson Creek is $$ but beautiful and a challenge. Thousand Hills is ok, lots of par 3s, no par 5s at all. Murder Rock is $$, i have not played it yet, but hear it is not as challenging as Branson Creek. Check out Ledgestone too, I have not played it yeat, but it looks really nice and $$$.

My dad and me. I was about 3 at the time. My dad loved this picture so much, he did a watercolor mural in our basement of it. Not fishing, but last Sept I took my 9 yr old stepson on his first ever dove hunt.

Golfer here! I try to play a few times per month. I am waiting for the weather to get nice one of these weekends so I can play Murder Rock! Several of the people I work with have played it and they just love it. I play Branson Creek quite a bit and find that to be challenging to say the least. Branson Creek has a really nice driving range and its only about a mile from my house in Hollister. I work for Dick Clark's and we have sponsered a hole at the Childrens Miracle Network Golf Tournament at Rivercut the last 2 years. We always have a good time up there and that is a pretty nice course as well.

Zander, The W.B. was my fathers FAVORITE fly in the world. I started using the W.B. and had very limited success with it. Limited as in ZERO fish caught, until one day on Taneycomo fishing the rebar hole when I became a born again W.B. fan. If I had only 1 pattern to fish with for the rest of my days, it would be the W.B. Since that day on Taneycomo about 6 years ago, I have caught LMB, SMB, catfish, trout, all sorts of perch on it. Don't give up on the W.B. it holds magic powers. Behold the power of the woolly bugger

It depends on how your body reacts to the cold water. I only wear my neoprenes if it is bitter cold. Like Dano, a thin layer of fleece usually works just fine for me, but I do not get cold very easily. If I had my way at home, we would have the bedroom window open a little bit at night, even in the dead of winter.

A bunch of us from here at Dick Clark's are heading out at the end of Feb for some red and spec fishing around the Corpus area. The majority of those going are using the "heathen" method of fishing, I will be bringing the 8wt with me and try to hook into some nice reds. Does anyone have any suggestions for patterns? I have never fly fished salt water so any other helpful suggestions would be great! thanks

If I remember correctly, there were 2 of those guys using spinning gear. It was kind of incredible to me that they were so blantant and non chalant about shuffling.

Got to the water at 815 to only 1 car in the lot! Tied on an olive experimental fly I tied last night and hit the water. For the next 20 casts I caught a fish on EVERY cast. And then it slowed down some. Total fish caught on the new fly was 28 in about 40 mins. The fish ranged from 10 inches to the largest at 21.5 all 'bows, very colorful and very fiesty fish. After that fly was destroyed, I tied on another new fly, but in a tan color with only 5 fish caught in about 10 mins using the fly. Then I tied on a zebra midge and caught another 6 fish before calling it quits, but not before landing a 19 incher that I would swear was a cutthroat!! Then these 4 idiots showed up. I didnt have my camera on me, but they were in a circle dunking their rods. They should have made it easier for themselves and just put a net in the water

True, very true. OJ is a man to take matters into his own hands.

All we lost was sleep. The neighbors giant cedar tree snapped at the base around 315am. Here is a photo from Thousand Hills Condos

How in the world do you have the time to sit and think of all those people? I have to disagree with one of your choices though. OJ Simpson-You forget that before he got set up with a kidnapping and armed robbery charge, he was out looking for the REAL killer of his wife! I think he is a fine upstanding citizen who happens to have a very sharp knife and small gloves

Actually it would be an "entitlement" to do so. It would be one's "opinion" that you are quite full of yourself.

I was fishing on T Sunday morning above chute #2 and notice a guy doing the shuffle. No real big deal since it is "legal" bu tthen I notice him doing something else. He is shuffling, then dipping his net at his feet trying to "catch" a fish! He caught at least 2 nice size fish that I saw. Both times I witnessed his actions, he called his son (I am assuming it was his son) which seemed to be about 12-14 years old over to look at his catch. When I left I was driving home to Hollister and as I got to the scenic overlook there was a D.O.W. truck sitting there and I hope he was glassing the area. Did anyone else see him doing this? PS-Did pretty good cat catching a few trout myself using a chocolate zebra midge, then went to a stimulator with a gray RS2 dropper and they tore up the dropper. largest fish Sunday was a 17inch bow caught on the RS2.

I did not pm you, but if you have any left I could stop by the shop next week and pick one up. They are really nice looking journals.

I would like to say something at this point. As the originator of this thread, I intended this as a venting platform for myself at an incident that occured in the water. I would like to ask that any personal beefs be taken elsewhere and no other names get mentioned as far as guides or other forum members bad behavior on or in the water. Thanks. John
