  1. Just wanted to share that I was looking online to order some Swimming Minnows and beetle tails and I came across a good site with good prices on soft plastics. The website is swimmingminnow.com, kinda clever I thought. I emailed the owner about ordering and he responded quickly and informed me I could place an order for 1 piece or multiple pieces with multiple colors. So I order several different things and the lures came in 2 days. Come to find out after talking to him he lives in Marshfield so getting the lures quick isn't a problem. The only thing that i didn't like was the shipping seemed kinda high but he told me I could order 1 or 10,000 pieces and it was the same shipping so all in all it was a good experience. Just my two cents.
  2. I went last Saturday night to Cedaridge between 2 of us we had 30 keeper crappie and 18 white bass. Caught all of them between 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm. The surprising part was that they were only about 5 feet deep in 17 feet of water and completely full of eggs. For us the trend has been that about 10:30 pm the bite slooooowwwsss down.
  3. Well didnt get many posts on this topic so I decided to just check and see for myself. Headed up Saturday night and got to the Cedar Ridge about 6:45 p.m. and we anchored out in about 16' of water. We went ahead and put our lights out at about 7:15 and started fishing with our minnows. As expected we did not catch any until it got good and dark. Bite really started picking up about 9. By 11 we had three limits of nice crappie. About 10:30 the bite was UNBELIEVABLE. After we had our limits we werent ready to go yet so we started the old game of "do you think you can catch them on this lure". And sure enough, it literally did not matter what you dropped over the boat every cast you would catch a crappie or have two or three good hits on the retrieval back to the boat. The fish we were catching on the artificial bait seemed bigger so we culled a few and headed home with 3 nice limits.
  4. From what I am seeing and hearing I am thinking a little rain is our only hope.
  5. All the reports I am getting is that the white bass run is over at James River. If it is that was an unbelievably short run. We caught fish consistently for about 5 days and that was it. Haven't been in about a week but have not heard anything good. Does anybody have any reports on the James River Arm and white bass?
  6. Went a couple weeks ago with my son and caught 9 keeper crappie and 8 white bass. Have not been back since. Has anyone been night fishing yet? If so what is the report and where at? We usually go to Cedar Ridge under the power line. Thanks
  7. Went down last Wednesday night with another guy and caught 2 limits after dark on purple beetles and purple swimming minnows. Also, went down with a group of guys on Saturday night, and we ended up with 5 limits after dark on the same lures. We were just up from Taylors Shoal. The bite was tougher than it usually is. The bite was very light, we were fishing St. Croix and two Loomis's and had a hard time feeling the bite. I did see several guys having pretty good luck on live minnows before dark.
  8. Interesting report... Know two guys went down on Saturday night and Sunday night and both caught limits at Taylor's Shoal... They did say they only caught one on a stick bait before dark and the rest were all after dark on purple and blue.. I am shocked that there is still not a daytime bite...I am puzzled this year
  9. Ducky that is how it was Monday and Tuesday night...I counted 14 boats from the two big rocks to Mccord Bend that weren't 50 feet from the bank..that is where we caught ours but just could not get a pattern on them. I think a good rain would be best... Do you think that the fact that there is basically ZERO current right now has anything to do with it? It seems like there is always some current but not this year. I fight the wind more than the current trying to hold the boat still.
  10. Fished McCord Bend up to Blunks on Monday and Tuesday late afternoon/night. Both nights were really slow. We caught 9 on Monday night and only 5 on Tuesday. Caught most of them right at dusk on XRAP and Purple Swimming Minnows. Talked to a lot of boats and for the most part everyone had the same report. On Tuesday I put in a Blunks and worked my way down to Walnut Springs. Looked like most of the boats were trolling for whites. Talked to a couple down there and they all said about the same thing...SLOOOWWWW Did not make it down last night but was considering getting out tonight or tomorrow. Has anyone had any luck last night or this morning? Thanks
