  1. Did you find any walleyes?
  2. You might want to think about staying home, 25 to 30 winds tomorrow. YIKES!
  3. Looks like it's going to be a chilly & windy day on the water. Perhaps you should also have a side-pot for the biggest Eye, those girls should be up shallow. :-)
  4. As i've always said......"I'd rather be lucky than good!" You are the "King of the Eye's" Dan, I have no doubt you will get on them very soon!
  5. Paid $2.48 yesterday for ethanol free premium at the station @ 215 & 123......right across the highway from the old Masterbaiters. I always try to fill up the truck and boat there just to keep them in business.
  6. Went yesterday too and had a ball. Out of Mutton about 6:45 and fishing till 4:30. I would say I caught roughly 20 to 25 bass and would have had a small limit. Almost all the fish came on the brown jig with a green trailer in anywhere from 6 to 20 feet. I found them on deep channel swing banks and just inside points in 6'. I also caught a few on a R.C. crankbait but couldn't buy a bite on the a-rig. About 3:00 I ran to a main lake point (B8) and decided to throw a jerkbait. The second cast I caught a keeper walleye and then on the 5th cast I caught a beautiful 21", 3 to 4 pound Eye....both these fish were in less than 3' of water. With all the wind and dark rainy skies yesterday I should have spent more time fishing for the Eye's, I think a guy could have done well. My water temps were 44 @ start and ended up around 48. It's coming hard, even the globe willow trees have busted the green out.....and that seems to be a full 3 weeks early. Tight Lines All!
  7. Good to meet you today Skeeter!!! That's a beautiful boat you have, thanks for telling me what time it was.?. I ended up with 12 and would have had a small limit, most of mine were on the jig.
  8. As I've always said I'd rather be lucky than good.......and I've been pretty lucky for the first 3 outings of 2017. My winter fishing is usually pretty hit & miss, missing more than hitting. I don't know what to contribute it to but my guess is that the water hasn't gotten as cold as it usually would be this time of year. You know what they say............."Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while." :-) We need to fish together this spring sometime. I'm resigning the end of March so my guess is that I will be fishing 3 or 4 days a week in April, if my bride will let me. :-) I did talk with a guy at the ramp that said he caught 14 on a jerkbait but I couldn't buy a bite on that stick, but I have to admit I didn't throw it very much.
  9. Were you in Googer yesterday?
  10. What a beautiful day to be on the water! Fished from 8:00 to 5:00 and had about 23 + one nice walleye. We found fish from 4' to 20', most were caught on jigs, swim-baits, and creature baits. One over 4#'s and this beauty was 5.5#'s. Water temps up in Son's was around 42 degrees. The shallow fish we found were on secondary points with small chunk rock. Tight Lines All!
  11. What a beautiful January day on the water!! Only had 5 but I finally had a scale in the boat when this 8.1# lady came aboard! Talked with 3 other boats, two with one fish each and one with no fish. I think I saw you on the water today Skeeter, headed towards Mutton from down lake?
  12. If you weren't on the water yesterday you should have been. I've had some great days as far as numbers but never a day with such big fish. No lies here but my best 4 would have gone over 22#'s! 7.6, 6.3, 5.3 & a 4.5 were the 4 largest. Had a number of other fish were that were 2.5 to 3.5. What a KICK posterior day! I also fished on New Years Day but didn't have near the luck or size that I had yesterday. Tight Lines All!
  13. Was up this past Saturday & Monday and caught a number of nice bass with a spinnerbait. I would also encourage you to throw some topwater off and on all day. It was the BIG ticket for me! If you find those whites put on a baby spook they love that bait this time of year!
  14. And otters, they are everywhere!
  15. Had a pretty productive weekend with the bass, Saturday was better than Sunday. Spent about 5 hours on Saturday morning and ended up catching about 20 bass with 15 of those keeping, the biggest was 3.2#. Most of them were just nice healthy 15 to 16 inch blacks. Put in @ Mutton and ran up the Sac to the timber and caught all the fish on the spinnerbait, I actually didn't even pick up another rod all morning. Sunday was out of Roark, 7:00 to 4:00. We ran back up the Son's into the timber and caught blacks on jigs and spinnerbaits until about 9:30 and then it got pretty quiet until around noon. Guess we caught about 20 bass again on Sunday with only 3 or 4 keepers, nothing over 2#'s. About noon we found the white bass back down in Powerline Cove and ended up catching them on topwater which is always a hoot! Water temps of 65 most everywhere we went. Hard south winds on Saturday and pretty breezy NW winds on Sunday. Tight Lines!
  16. Nice boat Dutch, any idea what you want for the Champion?  What year is it and do you know the total length of the boat and the boat on the trailer?  I've been thinking about selling my older Champion and upgrading.   Thanks so much!

It's hooked to the truck so I could only measure from the tongue to the end of the motor trimmed up.  That is 27 feet.  I can do it with the motor down to the swing tongue this evening.

Trimming the motor down shortens it by 15".  The swing away tongue is about 3' long so motor down and tongue swung it is about 23'

  17. I spend quite a bit of time solo for the same reason as Chomper. I was up Friday afternoon/evening solo cause I couldn't find anyone to come along. I don't mind pitching in $20 or $25 for gas if I fish out of the back of someones boat but if we go in my boat I kinda like to be supported with some gas money too.
  18. Can you give us dates, location, times, costs please. Thanks
  19. Amen Ketchup!!! Some folks thrive on drama and I for one am sick of it. Lifes2Short to have your panties in a wad all the time!
  20. Don't leave us Hammer, in fact let's meet up at the lake again and fish! I am getting tired of the mug shots however. :-)

  22. Blast & Cast, great way to spend a day!
  23. 1/2 melted butter & 1/2 Worcestershire sauce. Put the fish in the fish basket, put it over a hot grill and baste while the fillets are grilling. It's a great basting sauce for almost any fish!!! A wedge of fresh lime to squeeze over the fish after it's come off the grill and you have a meal to be proud of!
  24. Main lake today was 60 and Roark area was 64.
