I was lucky enough to spend a total of 27 hours over the past 3 days on the H2o! Spent Friday and Saturday up on Stockton and Sunday down at the Rock.
Friday's Report: Fished with Jason from 7:30 to noon out of State Park and only had one small bass, water temps were 49 to 50 but we just couldn't get bit in all the "good" places. Pulled the boat out at noon and went up to Roark and dropped the boat back in. Stayed in the Son's Creek area and ended up with roughly 25 with the best 5 going 11#s. Couldn't get bit on the blade, about 1/3 of the fish came with the crankbait and most with the jig in less than 6' of water. Water temps in Son's were 54 to 58. SE winds of 10 to 15, 65 degrees and mostly sunny skies.
Saturday's Report: Put back in at Roark about 7:30 and ran up the Sac, what a difference a day makes with the blade! I started on a main lake point, threw a creature bait on a shakey-head out into 6' of water and while I was turning on the graph and adjusting the trolling motor my first keeper picked up the bait and was swimming off with it! For the next 10 min I couldn't get bit on that bait again so I picked up the blade and and in the next 50 yards of the bank I had 7 more keepers. First time I think I have had a limit+ in the first 30 min of the day. Stayed in the Sac until late afternoon and then went up around twin-bridges and caught a few more fish before coming off the water around 6:00. I ended up catching 24 fish on Saturday and believe it or not 19 of those were keepers. All the keepers were 15 to 17 inches and I think the biggest weighed 3.25#s, best 5 would have gone another 12 or 13 pounds. I was about 1/2 way back in a cut in the Sac mid-morning and I noticed shad being busted in the very far back of the cove. I went up into 2' of water thinking that these must be blacks up there but it turned out to be whites feasting on a bunch of shad, and here I thought all the whites would be way up the river. Water in the Sac was about 53 on the main lake and the same around twin bridges. I did find 57 where the whites were busting. Bluebird day, high of 70 with same SE wind as Friday.
Sunday @ the Rock: Put in at Aunts Creek with Austin around 10:00 and thankfully it never rained there yesterday. Air temps never got above 46 and there was a cold NW wind blowing all day. Stayed in Aunts Creek most of the day and ended up with 10, only 4 of those keeping. All on the crankbait except the biggest one (3.35) which came on a jig in a main lake pocket. My buddy did catch one on a spinnerbait and a few on the ned. No rhyme or reason with the fish down there yesterday, we caught them on sheer bluffs, very backs of creeks and main lake points. Water temps around Aunts were 54 degrees.
Next week is going to be THE WEEK, can't wait! Tight Lines All!
