  1. Out of Mutton Creek at 6:30, caught 34 with 9 of those under 15". Biggest was about 3lbs. The last 3 times up the bite has shut off about noon and then picked up after 5. Most caught on jigs and crankbaits. No particular pattern on the type of bank. Blue skies, 20+ mph winds out of the south, 48 to 53 water temps. Tight Lines!
  2. Nice job Skeeter, we'll have to meet on the water one day!
  3. Out of Roark about 7:00 and greeted with heavy fog. Had to piddle around the launch ramp area until the fog lifted, ended up with our first 3 keepers. Ran up the river stopping along the way to fish some secondary points, chanel-swing banks, and main lake points. Out of our first 15 fish only one was short, out of the 45 we caught yesterday less than 10 were short. Best 5 would have gone about 19#s, 7.2 kicker. Blubird skies, mid 50's air temp, light south wind, water temps from 48 to 55. Fish caught on blades, hogs, warts, and jerkbait. Back off the water about 6:00, mid part of the day from noon to 4 was pretty darn slow. Did not really find any fish in the back end of the coves but should be soon. Good to meet you today Denjac. Tight Lines!
  4. OK, I have to ask..............What the heck is a ned rig.
  5. There was also another first on the lake yesterday, hail on the deck. Yikes! Just happy the bilge pump worked! Good luck on the crappie denjac, if you are in the Sons Creek look for us in the black champion. I'm headed up there tomorrow, hope the water didn't cool off too much.
  6. Yes I went today, yes I had the lake to myself, yes I got a little wet, and yes it was a great day to wet a line! Out of Roark about 7, ran up to the timber and caught 27, best 5 would have gone 12 or 13. Nothing big, but a bunch of nice fat healthy bass. Best news is that the blade bite is ON!! A few others were caught on Brush Hogs, Warts, & jerkbaits. Water at launch was 48, by the end of the day it was 54 in the timber. South winds 15 to 25, cloudy all morning, downpour around 11, and then sunny skies after 2. First time I have been on that lake and not seen anybody, no boats, no trailers, not anybody but me and a ton of turkeys. Tight Lines!
  7. Out of Mutton today by 9:00. Winds north 15-25, water temps we're 45-48. Not a real productive day. Could not buy a bite in Mutton Cove, ran over to Googer but found nothing in the back of the creek. Came almost out of Googer and found some bass on the points with the wind on them. Ran back across the lake and found some bass in the back of a main-lake cut. A few Wart fish but most everything else was on the Brush Hog. 12+ bass, 3 or 4 keepers. Up to Pomme today to fight the south wind. Tight Lines!
  8. Nice fish smbasser!! Let's go fishing sometime!
  9. Finally a great day on the water!!! Put in at Roark Bluff about 9 and ran up the lake. Fished both secondary points and channel swing banks on the north side of the lake. Caught 35+ bass, most of those bass came on 2 short stretch's of bank. All were caught on Brush Hogs or jigs in 4 to 10 fow......chunk rock was the key! Bluebird skies, 15mph winds out of the NE, water temps 46 warming to 50. Tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jerkbaits with no luck. All the bass were healthy and fat, best 5 went 13+. Nice to have a sore thumb again!! Tight Lines!!
  10. No need to get testy SRJ, just wondering if I missed something. So in other words there is no rip-rap on the 215 bridge........or does 215 cross the lake somewhere else other than by Old State Park..................just asking.
  11. Is there rip-rap on the 215 bridge? I know there is none on the west side and I didn't think there was any on the east end???
  12. Ahhhh, crappie fishing. I thought maybe you were bass fishing.
  13. What did you throw on the Rock Duckydoty? Any help would be appreciated. Where did you launch?
  14. Another tough day on the water, fished for both crappie and bass from 9:30 to 3:00. Not one bite at all. Wanted to launch at Mutton but both ramps were icy and there was ice in the cove. Went to Old State Park and was able to launch and bust ice for the first 50 yards, no ice on the ramp or in front of the the ramp by the time we returned. Fished all the regular haunts with all the usual baits but with no luck. No wind, mostly sunny, and the water temps were 33 to 36 in the main lake. Every cove we tried to get back into was frozen over, best guess is that it needs until Friday afternoon to totally thaw the lake. Stopped by State Park on our way home and that cove is still iced up out to the end of the boat docks, should be able to launch there by late tomorrow afternoon. Talked with two other crappie boats but no one was catching anything. This weather pattern SUCKS! It was a beautiful day on the water and we saw a bunch of Bald Eagles. Was going to go back up tomorrow but since we can't get up the rivers or back in the big coves I'm headed to T.R., maybe I can find a bite there. Tight Lines All!
  15. Everett and I will be up on Friday too. Pat and I tomorrow.
  16. Hope they are open, headed up tomorrow!
  17. Thanks bass1!
  18. Can a person still launch at Joe Bald. It's been a bunch of years since I have fished TR and would like to launch there if possible. Thanks in advance!
  19. How was the fishing?
  20. We were in the black Champion, the boats we were fishing around were catching a ton of slabs. The 8or10 we caught we gave to the two guys who were fishing on the bank.
  21. Same luck as the report from 2/19. Put in at State Park and fished hard till 2:30 without a bite. Went back into State Park Cove and ended up crappie fishing and catching a nice bunch of them. Once again the crappie were in 20 fow on the bottom with the shad. We fished around a number of other boats and everyone was catching a bunch of slabs. Water had warmed up to 35 degrees. If somebody has figured out how to catch the bass in this cold water I would appreciate a little help. :-) Tight Lines.
  22. Tried to put in at both State Park and Old State Park, both were heavily iced in. Drove over to Hawker and had plenty of open water. Fished jerk baits, finesse worms, jigs, and A-rigs.......not one bite till 2:30 when we found crappie on the bottom in 20 to 25 fow with shad on the bottom. Over the next 90 min. we ended up catching a limit of nice crappie and some huge white bass. We were fishing up against the ice in Old State Park Cove. By 5:15 this evening there was a path of open water almost all the way to that ramp. With the wind and warm temps tonight I don't think there will be any issues with launching there in the morning. I think that State Park will need one more day of warm temps before you can launch there. Watch for floating ice patches on the water!!! I have no idea where the bass were with the water being 33 degrees??? Find the shad and you will find the fish of some type. Tight Lines All!
  23. We will also be on the water tomorrow, going to try and go out of State Park, then try Old State Park if it's icy. I'm going to try a jerkbait or an a-rig on top of the ice and then drag it back off the ice and let it drop slowly. Good Luck out there Bob!
  24. Thanks Blue, we're headed up on Wednesday.
  25. When you say "marina" which marina are you talking about? Thanks for the report!
