Went fishing at WATTS on Friday, August 24th. Caught a dozen or so nice trout. Fishing was slower than usual. Fished mostly with a white floss jig (Basically a size 12 hook with a 1/124 oz beadhead tied with mint dental floss and white thread, no tail).
Around 9:30am that morning, while fishing close to the bank, I set the hook on what I though was a tree limb. A few seconds later it took off peeling line from my fly reel. When it finally finished it's first run it was almost 100 feet downriver.
I chased the fish all over the river. It was over 30 minutes before I got my first look at what I had on the line. It was a 20+ lb carp. Needless to say my net was useless as the carp was way to big to even come close to fitting in it. It took another 15 minutes and several attempts before I finally got him to shallow water where I could attempt to get my hands on him. After over 45 minutes I finally got my hands on him and brought him to the bank.
Check out the pick. 20+ Carp caught with 5X leader with 6X tippet on a 4 weight rod. I didn't even believe it was possible.
