  1. Daddy-O, what club does she play for? I coach H.S. volleyball at Holland Hall in Tulsa. Good luck and I hope you all make it to Dallas for nationals.
  2. Congrats. I would love to get my wife into fly fishing. I think she would enjoy it.
  3. I went on Friday. The weather was absolutely perfect. Got to WATTS area around 10:00am. Had a great day fishing. Caughts over 50 trout in the 5 hours I was there. At one point I caught over 25 fish in the same area in less than an hour. They were hitting on every cast. Fished a #16 beadhead pheasant tail nymph about 20 inches below a strike indicator. I set the depth so that the fly was only a few inches off the bottom.
  4. Got to WATTS area around 11:30. Made my way down to the trophey area below the stream gauge. Fished a #18 black midge under a foam indicator between 18-30 (just off the bottom) inches and caught a half dozen or so the first hour. The fishing was slow, so I switched to a white floss jig. Caught 3 or 4 in the next 30 minutes. Then I Switched to a #16 bead head pheasant tail and "the game" was on. Caught on the first cast. The fish were hitting on every cast. About the same time around 2:30pm there was an amazing hatch of small tan flies. The fish were hitting the top of the water so frequntly that it looked like it was raining at times. I caught over 50 fish in the next two hours. The fish were still hitting on almost every cast when I left at 4:30pm. What an amazing day. I am headed back tomorrow if at all possible.
  5. I'm headed down there this weekend as well. This will be my first trip to Taney since Winter. I plan on fishing at least one morning and possibly two. Kevin
  6. Josh, I actually hooked and landed one of those carps last week. I will post a topic about it with a pic. Couldn't believe I landed the ugly thing. Kevin
  7. Went fishing at WATTS on Friday, August 24th. Caught a dozen or so nice trout. Fishing was slower than usual. Fished mostly with a white floss jig (Basically a size 12 hook with a 1/124 oz beadhead tied with mint dental floss and white thread, no tail). Around 9:30am that morning, while fishing close to the bank, I set the hook on what I though was a tree limb. A few seconds later it took off peeling line from my fly reel. When it finally finished it's first run it was almost 100 feet downriver. I chased the fish all over the river. It was over 30 minutes before I got my first look at what I had on the line. It was a 20+ lb carp. Needless to say my net was useless as the carp was way to big to even come close to fitting in it. It took another 15 minutes and several attempts before I finally got him to shallow water where I could attempt to get my hands on him. After over 45 minutes I finally got my hands on him and brought him to the bank. Check out the pick. 20+ Carp caught with 5X leader with 6X tippet on a 4 weight rod. I didn't even believe it was possible. Kevin Willis
  8. Got to the River at 10:30am. Hiked downstream from the storm gage at Watts. Caught 8 fish right away on a 14 orange midge I tied last night. Switched to a 14 pheasant tail after lunchtime. Caught some very nice sized trout (including the one in the pic). Very windy day. Left at 3:00pm. Only caught about 20 or so, but they were overall larger fish. I was able to get to a couple places I usually can't get to due to the River being about a foot lower today then last weekend. Good luck tomorrow. I will try and post the pic later. I don't think I can post it from my iPad.
  9. DaddyO, I believe we saw you at Jimbo's Saturday. Nothing like a burger at Jimbo's after a long day of fishing.
  10. I caught a few browns today at Watts.
  11. Fishing report for Thursday, April 19. Arrived at 7:00am at Watts. Hiked down below the storm gage and Caught the first fish within minutes. Ended the day with close to 100 fish. It was like a feeding frenzy at times. I tied on a Size 14 BH Copper John under a strike indicator to start with and fished it for the first four hours. I caught over 20 fish in less than 30 minutes on the same fly at one point. I switched to a Size 14 BH Brown Pheasant Tail after lunch and continued to catch fish til 3:00 pm when I gave up. Planning to go back on Saturday if they are not generating.
  12. No generation on the schedule for tomorrow. Headed down to the Watts area. I will send a report tomorrow night.
