Center Punch replied to jdmidwest's topic in Bennett Springs State Park
so i guess that an articulated fly(with 2 hooks) would be considered an artificial lure... am i understanding this correctly? -

Great Day With A Beautiful Girl!
Center Punch replied to Flysmallie's topic in Roaring River State Park
good job fly smallie- im guessing she will be flyfishing her whole life -
i will vouch for that hog as i was there-heck! i even took the photo-sorry, you just cant make a photo look good with leonards mug in it(oooohh! that one was below the belt) anyway, what a fish-definitely the biggest i have seen there recently-it had very impressive girth as well)

thanks dano and flyfshn-glad to have those on the end of my line----definitely look forward to next year

with the brown run winding down, here is a recap of my last 13 night/days on taney(which has been in the last months span) for the most part, i was with topjaw and he stuck some pigs as well-he has a few more of my pics but i will leave him to post his enjoy- all and all a good brown run but seemed different to me this year(seemed shorter than i remember but probably just me) most were caught off of gray, tan, and olive sowbugs, some were caught off of bigger streamers.

nice pics matt-i know what you mean about those big fish lookin small behind a giant-i am around 6-4 and 300 lbs and some of those fish just dont do justice. but hey! at least i understand and you just have to hyper extend your arms(lol) anyway, i guess i will keep this thread going and tune in with a couple of pics as jrbhc8 mentioned above. the rainbow was one of two identical 4-4 1/2 lbers caught and the brown was 29.5 inches and had a 17.5 inch girth. it was caught in the small c and r section. i was fishing a smaller rainbow with a black and white zonker(which is becoming one of my favorite brown trout flies) and from out of nowhere this hog comes from the undercut to hammer this thing. needless to say i am thankful that before i tied this zonker on, i switched to 8 lb test or that brown would just be another story of the one that got away anyway-here they are.enjoy

awesome fish leonard, but whats even more amazing is that youve got him hooked for life and there isnt a high thats better than that right there

Center Punch replied to Center Punch's topic in Wild Trout Creeks & Streams
jjtroutbum- gavins link sums up the pattern and its just yellow instead of black and as caddis said, charlies fly box should have the step by step there kayser, and creek wader to be honest im not sure as im not used to the area. i was up with a buddy, wet dreams. maybe he will chime in and help you out. all i know is it was near spring bluff -
good report leonard!

fished burbouse sunday where boone creek dumps in and downstream from there my first time fishing there(went with a buddy) I tied an articulated sex dungeon in yellow and i never had to change the fly. We didnt fish too long as none of us felt very well. Fished for maybe an hour and half and i ended up with 7 quality smallmouth ranging from about 12-15 inches. all fought good and they were really after the sex dungeon-will have to get after them again as its always fun on the fly rod. also caught a few baby largemouths and sun fish but i believe this area is pretty loaded with smmouth right now

Catch And Release Season Is Coming Up Fast
Center Punch replied to Center Punch's topic in Maramec State Park/Springs
Allright, keep the feed back up. Looks like it will either be sat or sun after 1st weekend of december Maybe if we get enough people(and if you tie your own flies) we can have sort of like a fly swap also. and can be gracious enough to spare a few extras for those who dont tie . just an idea -
awesome fish jeremy! congrats

Catch And Release Season Is Coming Up Fast
Center Punch replied to Center Punch's topic in Maramec State Park/Springs
Allright, maybe we will just have to do that we have a little time but not much. so, i need as much feedback as possible from days that people cannot fish(that way we can eliminate those days) it will probably have to be on a sat or sun for most people. dress code:there will be a dress code that is mandatory!! no waders, no fly pack, no fly rod-----no service. all fisherman must be wearing proper attire. This includes underbritches. Fee: there will be a small fee of $10,000 to Jareds fly rod fund raiser which helps one selected needy person(which was me) purchase their fly fishing stuff what to bring: I am asking everyone to bring a covered dish of scuds, midges or cracklebacks. Any other questions please contact me -

Come on Seth. sometime you have to sacrifice-just do what i do and get that 180 inch poper on the first day that way you can fish the rest of the time -
drew, give me a shout sometime if you want to go.

kayser, yes i mean the area below the springs outside of park. if you dont want to drive to cardiac or suicide access, you can get down there from the park. walk towards the end of park and cross the swinging bridge. go right and stay on that trail(alot of weeds and undergrowth are taking up alot of the trail but you can still see it. It is a good spot in the hole below the bridge(where the park ends and the actual maramec river starts) if you keep on going down that path it will eventually take you to an opening where there is a cabin and a gravel road that runs along the river. take the gravel road down until you find a path to the right-take the path to the right and it will take you straight to the river at some good holes. fish dowstream and the fishing is good for awhile-hope this helps

topjaw and myself went down to the park sunday afternoon and goofed around seeing if anything wanted to play. He got down there a little before i did and not sure how many he caught. I caught around 10 or so in the hour and a half i was there and had many hooked but came off. I wasnt really motivated for fishing so i called it a day as did topjaw.(it was hot) River was up a little but was good for the fishing as they were more agressive and less wary. There were alot of fish, but i also noticed the size looks down from earlier this year. There were some good fish in the fast water up by cable and saw one other one down, but most fish were small. Figured i would share this not much of a report with you all. Used olive zonkers, san juan worms, scuds, and zebras.
