Mizzou sits at a 4.5 pt favorite right now. If the D does its thing and the O can put up a few points I think they should cover. But I admittedly don't know much about Minnesota. Both Oregon and Alabama are about an 8 pt favorite. Sounds like alot to me. Give me the dogs to cover...

Eat Your Heart Out

looks like he's in the marina cove, maybe he'll get a fine in the mail -
Illinois isn't any good either.

one thing I think the committee could do would be to not release their rankings until the end. Just say here's our final 4. That way we would not have known that TCU got jumped and there wouldn't be this controversy.
-
I can say that I think this final 4 thing is way cooler than it has been in the past. If we still had the old system, who do you think would be in the national champioship game? I'd have to say Bama and FSU. And let's take a look at what we would have with a 16 team playoff. First round game we would have Miz vs. Bama....again...oh joy! Nobody wants to see that again! I'd much rather the tigers be playing Minn. in the citrus bowl. Whether you have 4,8,16 or 40 somebody is going to whine about being left out. Basketball has 68 teams and there are always teams that complain about being left on the bubble. There is one for sure way not to get left out....don't lose.

yep, and the reception before that for the 1st down looked like it hit may have hit the ground.

best case scenario for Mizzou would be to win (obviously) and for Baylor and Ohio state to lose. If my calculations are correct (which is no guarantee) that would leave the committee to choose from Mizzou, Wisconsin or Kansas State for the 4th spot. Or possibly Bama backing in. If that scenario played out Mizzou would have the best most recent win and be SEC champs and...well...who am I kidding right? We're out.
-
top 10, top 20 blah blah blah....pretty much from 5-20 its a crap shoot. Some teams won close games and some lost em. Baylor is 6th and Auburn is 19th. Who you gna take in that game? I'd almost say Auburn would be favored but maybe Baylor -3. Boy that 16 team playoff would be cool wouldn't it.
-
I read today that if Bama loses, this particular writer believed they would still get in the final 4.

I'm as big of a Mizzou fan as there is, but I think they need that one BIG win and to make it to a major bowl game before anyone is going to consider them as one of the country's best programs. Beating the Kentucky's and Tennessee's and Vandy"s is great, but this game against Bama could change everything for Mizzou. Most likely they make a major bowl, prob not the final 4, but something like the Orange bowl is a real possibility. MU has made it to this spot a few times in recent years and not been able to make it over the hump, it's time they do that if they want the respect we fans think they deserve.

Whats wrong with a rematch? All the other teams in the final 4 discussion have to play a 13th game against a top 20 opponent. Big 12 teams used to play rematches in the Big12 champ game all the time and nobody complained about it. 2007 Mizzou played OU in a rematch and got beat again and knocked out of the natl championship picture (then whipped ARK by 30 in the Cotton Bowl WOOOO........) so if I'm on this committee I hold it against the Big 12 teams and maybe not even let one of them in. If Mizzou beats Bama or AZ beats Oregon, it will at least be a discussion if one of those teams is not more deserving than a team that finished its season playing Iowa St.
-
There better not be 2 Big 12 teams in the final 4 considering they don't have to play a conference championship game.
-
We need Bama to beat Auburn handily. Then we need to blow out Bama. If that happens...well...either Mizzou gets in or the SEC gets shut out of the final 4.

What a game to be at!!! We had hill seats, but there were so few students there that they opened their section up to GA ticket holders so we sat a few rows behind the band. Great seats. The first half was ugly for Mizzou, IMO the biggest play being the Mauk fumble being reversed for the hand coming forward. It just felt like AR was about to open the game up with that short field and the momentum. But the MOmentum shifted right before the half when Baggett knocked in that field goal to cut it to one score. Big mistake by Bilemma trying to ice him but waiting long enough that Baggett got to kick it. There is no need to ice Baggett in the first place, and letting him have a practice kick at it was the only reason he made the second one. The crowd was pretty stoked to only be down 1 score at the half, and it just had the feeling of another MU comeback, and thats what we got. Mizzou was clearly the better team in the 2nd half. Jimmy Hunt decided to start catching the ball. The long pass play to him when MU was backed up was a huge momentum play and led to the first MU TD. Sasser also mad a sick catch on that drive. Then the Defense took over with help from a loud 12th man and you could feel that Mizzou was not going to lose. Another interesting decision by Bilemma was to defer when they won the opening flip. It allowed Mizzou to play with the wind in the 2nd and 4th quarter. Whick is when they scored all their points. Can't wait for next year in fayetteville. As far as MU getting in the final four.....we would need just about every team in front of us to lose today. Lets just worry about winning the SECCG first, we all remember what happened to us last year.

Scored some tickets today, I'll be there on the hill. You Arkansas fans better keep that hog callin' to a minimum! MIZ!!!!
-
If you are talking about kicking field goals and extra points then sub-par is a reach for Mizzou. They're just down right awful at that. But their return game is dangerous with Murphy.
-
thats not trash talk, I've got alot better trash talk than that! This game will probably come down to turnovers, as most football games do.
-
they sure are, they've won 2 in a row! oh wait, Mizzou's won 5 in a row....
-
Somehow they just keep on winning???? Who's better....Arkansas Oline or Mizzou's Dline? guess we'll find out in the battle zone line crossing whatever game. Should be interesting. MIZ

"battle line rivalry" is just terrible. What idiot was put in charge of this? With the DGB debacle I don't think any name with reference to "Hoe's being throwndown" would have gone over very well. But I like where your heads at OTF!

Hey the Roos are a tough matchup...errrr...ok we suck. The freshman kid Gill-Caesar looked to have a little potential.

I Got A Chuckle Out Of This. Didn't Realize They Have Been So Bad Lately.

you could have beat us up in bball and we would have beat you up in football. whats the harm? If Bama jumped ship and went to the ACC i bet there would still be an Iron bowl. -

Nope, it wasn't us that didn't want to play. Could have easily been a non-con game but Kansas didn't want to. Playing Kansas though is kind of a double edged sword, sure it's fun to kick their butt every year but it kills your strength of schedule. -
The Kim Anderson era officially starts tomorrow night vs UMKC. I really have no idea what to expect. Apparently Vegas doesn't either as there is no line on the game that I could find. I see they were picked 7th in the SEC preseason poll, for what thats worth. Hopefully I will see a team that plays with EFFORT and DISCIPLINE on both ends of the floor, because I haven't seen any of that since another Anderson was the coach.

Craziness. All of a sudden Mizzou wins games by running the ball, punting and playing defense. Good on Pinkel for realizing thats how they are going to have to win games with this offense. Assuming GA loses to Auburn and Mizzou splits on the road at A&M/Tenn, the border showdown with the hogs will be for all the marbles.
