yea our night was pretty much the same. we put in at 8 oclock at cedar ridge and set up with lights in four different places and left about 2am. 3 of us in the boat and I was the only one to catch a fish. 11 inch crappie. I did have something big on for awhile with my buddy waiting with the net but spit out the lure before we got to see it. fun while that lasted. I got about 5 other hits all night and dont think my friends got any. we fished 2 brush piles 1 big tree area and 1 bridge pillar. saw several other boats fishing and all moving around and leaving by midnight. at least it wasnt blistering hot. guess I will go back to pomme and feed the little ones. at least i can catch a small mess there. stay cool everyone.

anyone tried crappie under the lights lately? thought i would try to beat the heat this weekend and try it at night.

i strickly crappie fish and that is what i do with my livewells. mine are on timers i have set to come on every 6 mins to aireate the water and works great when the water temps are cooler like now but in the heat of summer its hard to keep them alive even leaving it on constantly. in the real hot i bring half gallon milk jugs of ice and place in live well when they start going belly up. hope this helps. good luck. stacey

headed out in the morning to fish arkabutla lake in mississippi sat. thru tue as I did last year at this time. going after the big boy crappie. weather and water conditions look perfect this year and the spawn is just starting according to the reports. Last year they got 2 inches of rain the day before we got there and the lake level rose 18 feet. yea thats right. its a flood control lake and the level can change with a spinkle. I caught 6 fish in 3 days but the weather was nice the I was impressed with the lake and areas around it. hopefully I will has some pictures to post when I get back. save some crappie for me here I will be back thursday to start turkey hunting in the mornings and fishing in the afternoons. good luck guys. glad to hear youre converting. lol. minnows or jigs are always my pick. some days its either or. blue seems to be the color of choice so far this year although I throw everything in my box just to see. so far the crappie have been staying deep with the cold water and weather but as the water warms they should get shallow fast. we found 60 degree water up lindley creek last saturday but couldnt catch anything. friends caught a few around stumps in 10 foot of water casting minnows like a jig. I target the brush piles until the spawn kicks in. hope this helps. Im sure Shockley will answer your questions with much finer detail as soon as he reads this. there is a crappie tourney out of pittsburg this saturday that you could join us on if you like. good luck. stacey

on the water at 10am. fished brush piles at differant depths but could not find the crappie. not even on the locator. starting water temp was 45 degrees. fished from hermitage to L9 way up past nemo. finally caught first dink in L9 area also snagged a shad at same place. water temp at L9 was 55. came back to nemo area and caught 1 keeper and 3 dinks in 10 foot of water at 52 degrees. all 5 fish were caught on blue and white jig. was using minnows and did get robbed 3 times without hooking the fish. very nice day on the water with moderate winds much less than forecasted. water clarity was about 3 to 4 feet. saw lots of crappie fishermen moving around often so knew they were not catching either. talked to some that said no one was having any luck. good luck

I guess I am lazy and dumb but I just took the sd card to marine repair on prince lane and they loaded it for me in about 30 seconds. popped it in the locator and done, waypoints all loaded. Nice guys.

Buddy and I went Saturday. Didnt get started till about 9:30 . We only managed 10 keepers and one nice 7.5 lb catfish. All were caught on brush piles mostly on minnows. Did catch lots of small crappie and bass too. We put in at Nemo and just fished that area of the lake. Planning on going on a family camping trip at Nemo this weekend. I am going to O D on crappie fishing day and night.

crappie slayers tournament series will be having a tourney on pomme this saturday at 7am. launch out of pittsburg park. 40 dollars per boat plus 10 dollars for big fish. its not a big tourney but its a lot of fun with a bunch of good ole boys (and 2 or three girls) (who won one time) . come and join us. besides the crappie fishing has been better on pomme than stockton this year anyway. stockton is my lake of choice but I have done better on pomme this year. Let me know if you have questions or visit the pomme forum for the listing. Stacey

put in at CC about 7;30 this morning by myself and fished till 4:45. nice day on the water. a little warm this afternoon with just a slight breeze all day. not to many boats on that end of the lake which is why I decided to go there instead of my usual cedar ridge. fished standing trees in 23 fow 12 ft deep most of the day. the bite was really really slow. but I did manage to take home 10 keepers. probably caught 15 shorts. most fish were caught on minnows with chart nibblet. the bite was so light that you had to be watching your line for the slightest bit of quiver or slack and they would still swallow the hook. I did catch a few on a white tube skirt with a silver glitter body too. Plan on going back to same area saturday when my fishing buddy gets off the road. Im in a red and silver Strados with a evinrude 200hp stop and say hi if you see me. good luck

watched the radar monday and decided to go fishing since I was rained out from work. Got to cedar ridge at 1130am and fished under the bridge while it was raining and only caught one little one there. Rain over so started moving around and only caught one more little crappie and one little bass all afternoon. Finally pulled up on one of my favorite brush piles before calling it quits at 430 and BAM caught 7 NICE keepers in 45 minutes (not that thats tearing em up but compared to the rest of the day it was). Then they shut off. But I stayed with it for another 2 hours and ended up with 11 keepers. Had 3 that went 13 inches 1 that was 10 inch and the rest between 11.5 and 12.5. I was in 24 fow over brush pile fishing 12 to 15 foot deep. Most were caught on minnows tipped with chart. nibblets some caught on white tube skirt with silver glitter body jig also tipped with nibblet. Of course the day stayed cloudy with sprinkles and water temp was 77. Went back on tuesday morning about 830am and fished all day and only caught 1 keeper and about 7 shorts. Water temp got to 79 and you could see down about 6 foot deep. Tough day in the hot sun. Time to start night fishinh I think if you want to catch any with size. good luck. stacey

yoda......... this should be a good time for the crappie at night. was going to go myself at night last weekend but the storm threat changed my mind. I like to go to cedar ridge. there are lots of brush piles in the area if you are in a boat or you can fish off the fishing dock too. I use a submersable green and a floating white light. I seem to catch more crappie under the white light and white bass around the green light. Let me know if you need any more info. good luck

NOT!!!!! what a beautiful day on the lake but no fish to be found. was headed to stockton but at last minute decided to go to pomme instead since we did not catch much at stockton yesterday. fished with my grandson for six hours today and only caught one crappie and two small bass. grandson did hook something big this morning but finally broke his line when it got under the boat. catfish I would assume for the way it stayed down. we fished mostly brush piles and pitched to the banks and then fished under the Nemo bridge where I caught the one crappie. did have a few light bites throughout the day. nibblets stealers. water was up quite a bit and a little murky but not bad. you could see down about 2 feet. water temp started at 69 and got up to 74 by 4pm. one man at the ramp said the water came up 3 feet overnight this weekend and was now dropping. No wonder the fish wouldnt bite. good luck
