  2. Bob Bennett Stockton Lake Guide Service lives up at Greenfield he's very good and Stockton Lake Guide Service is on the forums.
  3. it is going to be warm here all week with a chance of some showers mid week so water temps should continue to rise and i bet the wiggle wart bite should be on. Just because the water temps will be pushing mid to upper 50's dont be afraid to throw a jerker. i like spro blue in the sun and table rock shad in low light in the spro mc sticks. i think youve done a great job preparing for your trip. this time of year i like to have a couple spro little john md's in my arsenal. i like the nasty shad and fire craw colors. good luck on your up coming trip and whack em good!!!!!!
  4. less than a half a pound from the state record.
  5. the swing jig is one of my favorite weapons i never tried the jika rig but i thought it would be good fishing standing timber and cedars.
  6. I apprentice in a bait shop down the road from my house and I used only war eagles until I tried papis. His sb's are similar to war eagles with the same quality components but we can costumize colors and blades and they are cheaper at 4.50 a piece. We've got probly close to 50 poured an painted but haven't had time to assemble them. We are swamped between mushroom head jigs ordered off eBay and custom orders for bass jigs and our own designed structure shakey we can't hardly keep up.
  7. Great job and thnx for a good report. What you said about the next hot bait made me wonder what happened with the jika rig. I don't hear much about it anymore.
  8. Walcra Bob Bennett took a guy out today and he put a 6.56lb small jaw in the boat. There's a pic of it on Stockton Lake Guide Service on Facebook.
  9. The argument is people can't tell the difference between a LM and a spot but my reply to that is people have learned the difference between a white and a wiper and to me they are harder to tell apart. If you can't tell a spot from a LM just run your finger on there tongue and look for the rough patch. Case closed how easier can it be!!!
  10. Dprice they are dragging Arigs over deep brush on main lake and on channel swings. We brought in big bags a couple times last year thinking we'd win just to get blown out the water. Our best bag of 23lbs last year came on red/blk neon paca craws on a channel swing in 30fow on the big sac near pt.9. Its blows my mind too. I catch nice fish on the Arig on the rock but can't do it on Stockton like some of them do.
  11. yep id use a kayak at 39 bridge with no problem at all theres good flats on each side of the old road bed.
  12. little over ten pounds won the ma and pa tourney. two of my friends and wives fished in googer and griesser and all they caught were dinks. its still just a little too cool for the big girls to move up in the creeks but it wont be long. we did manage a 4.95 kick a couple of weeks ago in the creek on a jerker but its the only solid keeper in the flat pockets since then.
  13. coming out of griesser you can go straight across the lake and stay bout 100 yards off the bank and make it up to the timber and the pockets on the left side. i run to the timber then troll on over to the pockets the fishing been decent on the left side but be careful its a lower unit nightmare with the lake as low as it is.
  14. thats three hills and its a very tricky area the right side looks good to run but if you do chances are you will run up on mud. the creek channel runs right thru the timber on the other side. if youve got navionics or lakemaster maps study them before you try to run it. thats why i suggested putting in at 39. that channel changes about every year and we idle it or run slow the first time and once we got our track on our maps we'll venture it a little faster. when the waters up in the spring i dont have any reservation putting my ranger in at 39. id rather do it than run the creek channel up there, i havent even run the channel yet this year but i'm going to in the next couple of days just to get the track on my graph.
  15. very good advice slab knows what hes talking about. crappie grubs have been working for me but mostly dinks when im wht bass fishing. ive still had a good jerk bait bite early in the morning and then a wart, RKcrawler and spro little john md has worked some but the water temp gets above 55 cranks will be more affective. dont rule out a shakey head with a baby brush hog either.
  16. Yep CC is on the upper end just below where big sac and turn back run together. CC is east or Greenfield off 160 highway
  17. You might try putting in at the ramp at 39 bridge go under the bridge and either fish minnows on the stumps or a jig 18" under a bobber and target the lawdowns.
  18. thnx for a good report, ive been hitting greeser pretty hard the last two weeks and have yet to catch a crappie in there or in googer even at the backs of them. Anyhows I drove around just cking water conditions and some crappie are being caught at the 39 bridge. there were 5 boats tired up to standing timber in that stump flat just above the bridge. 39 area the water has a slight brown stain to it but its very fishable theres no floating debris coming down the creek. Went from there on up to Campbell ford and theres not much water up there and its crystal clear with green slime still on the bottom. It doesnt look like to me the water had even gotten up. the good hole of water where wetzzle branch runs in below the low water bridge has filled in but thats as far as i walked down. I didnt make it to the long flat. From there I ran over to H highway and drove down to the conservation area just above greeser on the east side and besides being too windy to fish the water clarity there was very good.
  19. we had the same survey a couple sundays ago over on the rock point between Y and H highway bridges. it was pointed out to me that only 2% of the spots they survey are 15 inches or larger and they estimate a 15'' spot to be seven years or older which is right at the end of their life cycle. He said that because there are no threadfin shad in stockton because it gets too cold in the winter it slows there growth rate way down. I talked to my county game warden a couple days later and he had heard that MDC is considering uniform length and creel limits for some species including bass state wide. he said that was the reason for the survey. It's interesting because the surveyor said most spots they shock up come from the darn area. most the spots i've caught which arent too terribly many have come off a long bluff between point 9 and the rock fence just below springfield cove.
  20. when i lived in Greenfield I used to fish with Johnny Wilkingson. he pointed out many things to me that used to be there before the lake was built. the upper end of the lake is full of old rock fences and foundations and johnny showed me several. hes in his 90's or close to it and still gets around pretty well in fact when it warms up we plan on going fishing.
  21. zarra in the top left hand corner just above the number 84 just to the left of the boat docks i've knocked the snot out of crappie there in early april in that little double pocket. i tried to drive down there today but its been 4 years since ive drove down there and i forgot how lmbo!!!!! guess i better pull up google map before i try again.
  22. I hope that little baitshop opens back up because they sure did have good minnows there.
  23. friends bridge is whats on the sign at the bridge. Ive always referred to that area as the CC road bed or Greenfield landing. Jim how long ago did you live in Greenfield i transferred up there when Summerfresh bought the grocery store. Lived and worked there till my mom got sick back in 2011 then i moved to Mt. Vernon to take care of her.
  24. triton has a few different options including a center console model. http://www.tritonboats.com/boat/423.aspx
  25. drove up and ckd water conditions in a few spots today. CC still has a brown stain to it from the mud coming down turnback. drove over O highway bridge and it was muddy and pretty full. Didnt fish much but i did see a few whites coming off the long flats just below the old road bed.
