Stockton Lake Fishing Report
crappiequeen replied to Stockton Lake Guide Service's topic in Stockton Lake
eh, he is trying to sell you a fishing trip!! The crappie fishing is NOT awesome.... I have been hitting the water 3 days a week and let me tell you the truth. it is S U P E R S L O W !!!!! they(crappie) are holding out about 7 to 10 feet deep, about 20 feet out from bank. Only males are caught and they are FULL. no spawn yet!! nothing over 13". all in the 10 inch limit size LOTS or 9 3/4 throw backs... the one female i did get was a big girl full of firm eggs not bloody. This cold snap and the rain will scatter them to high heavens. out to the warmer deeper pockets. I have not fished the nights yet so i do not know personally how that is going. EVERY boat and bank fisherman I talked to said the same thing i was experiencing REALLY SLOW.. Takes Hours to get 2 or 3 keepers....and the lake level was 868.24 as of Monday the 9th. water temp was 69*. Stay home this weekend, save your gas. it will surely get a little better in a week or so.. -
very very slow! they are just holding in 8/10 feet of water....about 20 feet from the bank... males are NOT fanning nests, males are full, females (only had 4 of them) were all full! fished for 2 weeks now and have only had 22 keepers ,

great help guys. when we rewire the boat, we WILL put in a circuit breaker compatible to the unit i buy.. When we bought the boat It came hooked up direct to the battery terminal.... Yikes. we were dipping water to cool the battery and wires down. I am checking into the terrova i pilot. sounds awesome! i hate to be broken down at CRAPPIE TIME... fuel pump went out an hour after trolly went up in smoke,,, bad day on the water... ended up fishing from the bank which turned out very good Thanks so much everyone! I will use everyones help to set up a nice new unit "the right way"

you are ONLY allowed to keep 4 Walleye!! i hope you threw back 1, Thank your lucky stars you did not get caught.
-
@ Jerry Rap.. it was a Foot Control. 12 volt 55 lb thrust. the smoke came out of the torpedo looking thing the prop is attached to, and on the mounting frame where all the wires connect! it melted the whole wire loom to the carpet INSIDE the boat( a real mess) all the way to the battery. a miracle it did not catch on fire. price is not an issue, i want a brand new one. dependable, reliable. this one was OLD! not putting money into it. But thanks for replying. @MoSportsmen..what brand do you have? i will stay with the foot control, bow mount. mine had reverse.

crappiequeen commented on dennis boatman's blog entry in dennis boatman's Blog
I have fished Stockton lake for 30 years and have NEVER ...yes NEVER caught a Walleye!!!! Supposed to be the "premier walleye lake in Missouri" SHOW ME a walleye then... and tell me how to catch one as well. , countless hours spent trolling the dam, the points, the flats, the drop offs... 50 feet vs 5 feet...cloudy/sunny/choppy waters.....i have tried it all. not happening for me. HELP..- 3 comments

So we are out on the lake last weekend, and i smell smoke... then a smelly hot plastic smell. We had just finished trolling for some slabs & were headed to another spot. I seen smoke coming from the troll motor... it shorted out melted all the wiring, NOT fun. soooo needless to say i am wanting to buy a new one. I am unfamiliar with them (this one came with the boat) so please help me choose a good powerful model. IF you were to buy one for yourself....what would you get. We do alot of trolling. Bow mounted of course.

Crappie Report From Bank For Aldrich/high Point Area 3/30-3/31
crappiequeen replied to crappiequeen's topic in Stockton Lake
yep. i do not fillet my crappie. i split them in half on the bone. the taste is so much better and you get more meat.. -
we will be using our "homemade" umbrella rig in the next few weeks, will let everyone know...how/if they really do work. and hopefully i can get it on video.(hard to hold a camera and reel in pole at the same time..haha) i refuse to spend 20 bucks on something i have seen no proof of working..so we made our own (fake videos on you tube to sell their rigs) pfttt. hard to beat a jig, crankbait or them live minnows..

I have been to high point 4 times last week/weekend(see my post) super slow! light bites... they just are not up yet...yes you can catch some keepers but it works your tail off. and takes 4/5 hours and still not limit out... good luck.

Went fishing SAT/30th at dawn. Bobber hit the water with a minnow and under instantly. 3 feet down, about 6 feet from the bank. very slow but hard bites. all keepers only 1 thrown back. 5 males and 2 females.eggs are full and streaked but not bloody yet. 4 hours of fishing time produced 7 keepers. nothing over 12 inches . big ones are not up yet. males are not cleaning nests yet either.. tails are full and pretty. not torn up from cleaning. SUN 3/31 went again at dawn. was still dark when Bobber hit the water with minnows! SUPER SLOW.Super light bite, most would spit out at bank and get away... so light bite you sometimes did not know a fish was on... The fish were farther out about 20 feet from bank and 6-7 foot deep. caught 10 nice males! in a 5 hour period...no females. all were keepers but nothing over 13 inches. All are good fish but the BIG SLABS are not up yet.... do they know something about the weather we don't? Again.... they are not even cleaning nests yet. the tails are to nice and no signs of fighting on any of the males...a total of 4 trips and we got 30 fish between 2 of us... not super good action yet..maybe soon it will turn on!
