I was catching mostly everything on a Green Pumpkin Mizmo Tube 2.75" But I'm sure with how aggressive they were, that they would have hit anything. Did pick up a couple on a Pumkin Fat Albert Grub.

That they are, I floated from Hog Heaven to Mt. Shira last Thursday. Caught and Released over 30 Smallies, and 1 4.5lb largemouth. Be careful on the last set of rapids before you get to Mt. Shira, I almost flipped my kayak.

I've been planning a Smallmouth trip for this week. Well the original plan was going to Wilson Lake in KS, but wind is 45+mph, so I decided to take my try at the Elk. But I've never been there, driven there, or even seen anything there. I have Russ's number that I'm going to be giving him a call this week for possible help with putting in and taking out. I'm wondering what advice can be gave to a River Virgin, and someone that isn't expeirenced in smallmouth fishing. I'm a Green fish man that fish flat water. So new species, and moving water can be a bit overwelming. I've caught maybe 4 or 5 Smallmouths in my life. 2 on a Spoon and 2 or 3 on a white grub. That's it. So any advice is appreciated. I'll be heading out and getting there approx 8am Thursday and fishing till Friday around lunch. Weather reports say that there is suppose to me a slight wind about 10mph. How does the wind effect the river? Is it protected for the most part? I fish from a SOT Kayak. Thanks again, sorry for the jumbled pile of mess. :/
